  • This problem is not related to the DSG. they only recall that vw has on the DSG transmissions is called 37E6 witch is for Transmission mechotronic unit. when you get that flashy light on your cluster i would say most probably You have a bad shifter postion sensor/ cable.

  • It's probably flashing PRNDS for "Please Remember Never Drive Shit"

Jetta's were made in Mexico in the past... I'm pretty sure they might still be. I had a 2000 Jetta and it was at the dealer more than it was driven by me. Windows... Starter... Shifter stuck on Park... Should get a Japanese car better. They last longer and have fewer problems. I now drive an 2010 Audi S4 (B8) and haven't had problems. However, I still acknowledge that Japs make the better cars. Hope you can get VW to fix it. :(

  • on transbrake lol

  • definitely a problem with the DSG.

nice jetta btw. i miss mine

  • i changed the battery & the same function came up, cant put the car in gear & cant remove the key from ignition switch

  • I own a R32 09 with 25K and ive got the Same exact Problem!

Let me know if you find out whats wrong with them!

  • Well your not alone! I love my car, but I might have to take old yeller out back and .... you know how that ends..

  • that is the "false neutral" it's a sensor wich deteriorates in the tranny due to the high oil temperature (easy fix) but MANY DSG's are having other problems including hars shifting, jerk a low speeds wich VW seems unable to properly fix..

mine had a bunch of problems too.. traded the car for a new one with a manual transmission... DSG may be "cool" when working bur as they are now are dangerous and unreliable.

word of advice,, just stay away from them...

  • My car is at the dealer since monday morning and this problem is on warranty they are changing the transmission.

  • I have the same car he's at 98000 km and just started but it's doing it while i'm on the road the car just start to flip out and i can't change gears or even go faster if he's in drive but triptronic it stays in the gear that he was when it happened i fucking mad

  • It looks like mechatronics damage.

    The most common DSG problem.

Ive read someweare, you don't have to change whole transmision.

But it's notnig sure, I moght be wrong

  • There was a recall for this transmission

  • I called my VW dealer today and asked him about any recalls for the DSG transmission and he said that there is only a recall for a temperature sensor on the transmission. But my mechanic told me there was a recall for the double clutch in the DSG transmission. So I dont know...Could you tell me abit more about the recall?

  • I actually don't know too much about it. my tdi has a manual trans. I know it was 06 to early 09 versions of this car was the recall because the cars would not shift properly and stall.

  • AFAIK, there are two different recalls. One is a safety recall by VWoA (temperature sensor fault) The other isn't a safety recall but affects 50,000+ Audi/VW cars in which is due to a defective megatronic unit.

Better ask again or another VW dealer to make sure.

  • Mechatronic*

  • @MrDubbz09 look on the interet for "VW vortex forum" in the DSG transmission section you can find the info about the recall.. (only in america for now)

actually the estimated nuber of complaint of DSG malfunctioning worldwide it's 250.000 and growing..

that's how bad and unreliable this tranny is.... trade it before you run out of warranty.. a mechatronic (tranny ecu) replacement is more than 1500 bucks (and most of the times don't even solve the problem at all)
