It's the addiction of meeting new people and making new friends. Making more popular friends (especially members of the opposite sex) than you can in real life, because people on these sites "sell themselves", showing only their best side, their best pictures. So you can get both more quality and quantity of friends and romantic interests. All one giant boost to ones ego, if thats not addictive I dont know what is.
