  • They applaud because their hands must do something. They have already been praying.

  • IMO this movement stands or falls on the execution of the coda. Most conductors skate over the notes, a common problem with aspiring Brucknerians, but given that Bruckner was about God Almighty and this coda is the glory of same, this cannot be justly done.

    But Celi does this justice. The only other conductor I have heard do so is Maurice

    Abranavel with the Utah orchestra.

    One thing i am yet to comprehend. Why do they applaud? do they not understand this music? where is their sense of AWE??

  • Amazing Symphony! At 10:50 you can hear Celibidache's voice!

  • When was this recorded? Celi did Bruckner 5 on BBC tv in the 1980s and the tempo was much faster.
