I like it very much, but I feel you should have done the "Peaceful and Warm" segment after the guitar solo. It was amazing I saw Kansas do it live that way.
How did I miss this one. A perfect and inspiring song from Kansas and an outstanding rendition. Dave and Al, I've commented other times on some of your other superb collaborations and this one is equally impressive. But if I can just add some praise to the other muscians- I believe most of these guys are the same on each video - their work is incredible right down to replicating the sound of the original. You all must have been playing for years independently
OMG this is more than fantastic, ur new singer Al Herda has passion, WOW what a voice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.....not forgetting the rest of u wonderful artists that compliment and make it all HAPPEN ..i don't know wat to say..i THANKYOU AND WISH U ALL WELL...you guys are "ON the BRINK of FAME" if i had my way & owned a radio station & a record company....this song is awsome......deb from down under.....long time KANSAS fan...XXXXOOOO
Guy's, I've commented on this one before and this song just get's better all the time. I love all the sound's in it, but this guitarist is amazing blended with all the accompanyment and this vocalist help's to keep this tune ageless. Kepp em' comin'.......................
To be honest the vocals could be a bit better (maybe you should have lowered the pitch 3-4 semitones down). But overall it was a GREAT cover of a GREAT song of a GREAT band :P
It is really good.I really liked your voice. It is similar to the original singer. Now I know what I missed in my life. The music was beautiful. The video itself wasn't for my taste but the music rocked!:)
Perfect! Everyone here is just great ... keyboards, drums, guitar, vocals ... it's all fantastic. Really impressed with you guys and wish you lots of awesome recordings to come.
wow, first of all thanks for sharing and letting people who love Kansas know about this... It was great guys, you totally nailed it. I loved everything, the voice, the guitar escpecially. Long Live Kansas! [2] :)
superb! me being a kansas fan waaay back can at once hear that al herda has a past with steve walsh, correct me if i'm wrong :) but it's those little details when singing out each and every pronounciation. the vibrato. the wonderful wordw "TOmorrow" and "TOday"... that's what i love about walsh and it's being captured here as well.
This is the best yet that I've seen from you guys. Absolutely amazing work. The guitar solo was overwhelming, and the vocals were unbelievable. Great Work!
Dave... you know I'm a fan of yours but man... give that guitar player some love... that was amazing... I love the film progression ... it is really quality stuff all the way around... I am sure the "Boys" are taking notice too.
This is my first listen to you guys. I am verrrry pleasantly surprised!! I think you covered this song as well as Pearl Jam covered Reign O'er Me. You are GREAT artists!!
Wow, wow, wow!!! This was amazing! All of you did a fantastic job on this masterpiece! Especially Al's awesome vocals have impressed me. I would never have thought that he'd be able to sing the high notes in the end so well. Keep up the great work guys :-)
Awesome like always, I think that's better than the last recording, the sound edit and the lead singer voice sounds better now! keep on playing this wonderful band!!! well done piece, So.. I would like to see Belexes, Can I Tell You or Apercu(this song is pretty good).
Al Herda sounds pretty good, pretty good vocals overall. Push those high notes boy! I wanna hear flawless out of you next time! Really excellent production by all though. The band also sounds wonderful and the production is spot on. Everyone does their part quite well. Now I want a keyboard with aftertouch control, thanks! XD
Hey Dave, I'm always thrilled to see, "you have new mail from dgcmusi"! This piece was very well done! Your play and style hits that heart string...just like Steve & Kerry. Matt
is always in the pocket (you rock me, Matt!). Also, fantastic rendition on lead..very much impressed! Vocals? here we go...again, very tough shoes to fill! However, I did enjoy the passionate effort!!
Keep it up guys....you have another virtual fan for life!!
Wow....This is really awesome! So lovely and all sound so good. The lyrics are so beautiful and the voice impressed me. I love this video.....your are amazing!
I was too busy listening to the voice that I didn't realize the video. When I got through to 1:10, that's when I realized all the instruments were all from different locations. Reminds me of the video "playing for change". I love this. Love the singer. Dave is always an amazing pianist. And with all the players, very GOOD!
Now that I've managed to lift my lower jaw back into position...WOW! You guys nailed this one! If there was one small thing I would have done differently I think I would have found a better keyboard voice for the violin part in the beginning, but what you guys have done is absolutely incredible. The musicianship in this is fantastic, and I love the homage to Kerry in the middle of the tune. BTW, did you know he is recovering from a really bad stroke? Check the Proto Kaw web page.
That was something I had to do with a trumpet sample.
It was very hard to play a string sample that had the right attack and flow for that part . The original, they use an ARP 2600 string with Robbie over that giving it a smooth attack. Again everything I used before the trumpet just did not work to my ears.
I loved it. The story behind this is that, at the time, Kerry Livgren's wife was at a point where she was close to becoming a christian, as he had become. She was "standing on the brink" of making the change. The book is a good read for any fan of Kansas and a must-read for any christian who is also a Kansas fan.
I know of the revised version but never purchased it. By the way, for others since you know this already, Seeds Of Change is also the first solo album by Kerry just before he left Kansas. It is strictly christian and still holds more of the traditional Kansas type of music. Some of the songs there are masterpieces. Of special interest is the song Ground Zero with David Pack on vocals.
Amazing! Absolutely fantastic! Thanks for turning me on to this video - you guys did an absolutely amazing job. Not quite Steve Walsh (there's only one), but an amazing job none the less!!

The singer here is wonderful. He articulates and emotes just like Steve.
