@Xpl0ReRChR ah kirk wears it pretty low too like :P ah i kid, nice job man, it doesn rly matter wher uve it slung, it sounds good :) tho u have no idea how jealous i am of that guitar :O how many guitars have you?
@Meticullamaster Well yeah, but it makes it harder, while there's no real reason to do so other than "looks". You'll find that most, if not all lead guitarists, have their guitar higher than rhythm guitarists.
@Xpl0ReRChR still possible 2 do though. its just alot more difficult basically you sacrifice coolness for comfort lol but if you play slung low for a while you can get used to it. haha but do ur thing man \m/
@naughtypersian I do agree that you can get used to it but I think it would still hold you back. At least that's the case when I try to have the guitar as low as Hetfield does.
Thank you for the feedback though! :) Have a look at my latest video if you will, this one's rather old! :p
The thing is, I'm always kinda stressed out when recording my videos, so that's why I don't look like I'm excited. But whenever I play on my own I'm so relaxed and enjoy every second of it :)
I just had one problem with it... There's a part that's always been sliding vs hammer-on (I think you know what part) and I play it as hammer-ons. Sliding just does not sounds right.
If you put a whammy bar on gibson explore (like you have) would it fit in the normal gibson explorer case with the whammy bar on it 2. would it screw the toning?
In fact the original Gibson pickups of your Explorer are perfectly fine but if you're looking for a heavier, raw tone (just like I was - that's the reason why I got my EMG's) then they are definitely what you're looking for. A Gibson Explorer with EMG's is pretty much ideal for rock/metal because its tone is amazing plus it's perfect for shredding.
i wouldnt say its perfect its a short scale guitar the headstock design doesnt allow any locking systemive heard many horror stories about explorers the best explorer ive played were esp explorers but designs like the explorer like the kelly is way better longer scale comes with emgs 24 frets and a floyd rose amazing tone explorers were never designed for metal since they came before metal started
When having 24 frets, while it's a bit better for shredding, you're compromising the guitar's tone since the pickup has to be placed lower than where it should be.
As for the locking system which can't be placed, that's why I've put the Stetsbar which is the best solution after the Floyd Rose.
I do believe that Gibson Explorers therefore are the best, even though they were designed before metal came as you say, because not only do they have better wood than the rest [...]
[...] but mine also has EMG's, which enhance the Metal sound it gives. There's no doubt that the Gibson Explorer is the BEST when it comes to Metal.
Seeing that you're promoting cheap-ass guitars and that you're "born to piss off people", as you're stating in your profile, I'd say you've got no idea what you're talking about anyway.
Oh and, I'd never trade my Gibson Explorer for ANY other Explorer IMITATION out there, due to the fact it's simply superior to them all, so please learn your facts first.
"than EMG's, because i don't like actives; they sound a bit cold, lack of dynamic."
Well actives (at least mine, on the Explorer) are better for hard rock/metal, and I believethey're the opposite of cold, with an actual boost in dynamic. I can't really see how you'd prefer the standard but then again it's only a matter of opinion. :)
The Tubeman is freaking amazing. It's got amazing quality of sound (also depends on the amp of course), and you can experiment with it to get many different
Metallica by the way are one of my favourites band ever... I've learnt all of Death Magnetic on guitar, which I've been incessantly listening to since it was released.
That Was Just Your Life's also one of my DM favourites and your cover of it's amazing!
I suppose people are true about EMG's being cold...but I do love the cold.

is it hard to lock the strings with the stetsbar?
DRCRUE1313 1 year ago
Ha, I do the same thing, when its a really easy palm muted riff, I strum the shit out of it.

only 1 problem!! that guitar shud be slung a foot lower, around the crotch area, hetfield style then u know ur rly rocking :)
GuitarmanMo 1 year ago
@GuitarmanMo Yeah, but Hetfield doesn't have to do the kind of solos Hammett does...
That's why the guitar is that high :P

One of my top favorite Metallica songs!
I just had one problem with it... There's a part that's always been sliding vs hammer-on (I think you know what part) and I play it as hammer-ons. Sliding just does not sounds right.
Other than that, FANTASTIC!

Yeah I agree with you on that, hammer-ons do in fact sound better.

how do you find the Hughes and kettner pedal?
guitarlad24 2 years ago
But i don't get it how does it fit in the gibson explorer case with the bar? Can you like remove it when you put in the case? or something?
kossumussu 2 years ago
You can pull the Stetsbar back and as a result it's almost flat on the guitar.
Xpl0ReRChR 2 years ago
If you put a whammy bar on gibson explore (like you have) would it fit in the normal gibson explorer case with the whammy bar on it 2. would it screw the toning?
kossumussu 2 years ago
Hey,
yeah it fits as I've done it myself, and no it doesn't screw the tuning at all. It hardly makes contact with the case.
I hope I helped. :)
(PS.: I'm referring to the Stetsbar whammy bar. I can't guarantee for any other whammy bars.)
Xpl0ReRChR 2 years ago
I would kill for a gibson 84 explorer with a whammy bar

Nice guitar & playing! I prefer the stantard 500 pu, than EMG's, because i don't like actives; they sound a bit cold, lack of dynamic.
Can you tell me something about your Tubeman's distortion? (gain, definition, quality of sound?) thanks!!

sounds fitting different guitars (like Fender and Gibson).
You can get from minimum to maximum gain and there's also a "boost" button which you can press ;)
If you're thinking about getting one, I sure recommend it with absolutely no second thoughts. :)
Thanks for your comment! :)

Thanks! I'm really glad you liked it!
No, it didn't come equipped with the Stetsbar whammy, it was an extra add-on (quite costly as well) but it was well worth it.
Hmm yeah I've been thinking of showcasing the "power" of the whammy, maybe I'll do that!
Thanks again!
