  • good teardown video thanks.

  • and thus, my mag extension spring flies off. ;)

  • This is the shotgun I used in the Coast Guard. They use a different one now though.

  • Thank you

  • Bleh... my 870's pump won't stay locked after I re-assembled it. :/ It cycles freely without having to engage the trigger or slide release. I think I broke something.

  • finaly a movie about this, by bolt came out a day, but i think it was broken... but it wasnt

  • My favorite gun that i own. Such a beast.

  • Thanks for the instructional.. very helpful.

  • aww that little hammer <3

  • Great video! also applies to the IAC Hawk Defense 981R :)

  • for a non military firearm this field strips pretty nicely

  • @CanadianReich actually the 870 action is one of the most common combat pump action shotguns used in the world. so it is most definitely not a non military firearm. I know of two people in iraq who use it on a daily basis.

  • @Thugbrizzle its also one of the most common non military combat shotguns in the world..... my main point is it wasn't built with war in mind, that I am aware of, like an Ak47, SKS, M14, M16, M60, etc. If it was let me know, but i cant see it, most "military" guns that I know of field strip pretty darn quick with no need for a hammer or punch.

  • @CanadianReich law enforcement uses it all over the us. Its in all of the cop cars in baltimore county

  • @motocrossmaniac9 im aware of this......but it was not designed by the military as a military weapon.......

    key word designed

  • @CanadianReich Most guns aren't designed for one purpose. It's hard to find a gun that was designed purely for military use. But I get what you are saying, the remington was designed to be a multi-purpose shotgun.

  • @CanadianReich this is definitely a mil spec weapon imo., greatest shotty on the market all around if your considering the uses, cost, etc. never realized how easy it was, until this video though :)

  • @airic554 well it strips easier than my 300 savage or Mark 3 Lakefield autoloader .22cal.... Ive never taken apart my 300 (dont plan on it) and it takes a damn hour to get the .22 apart...striped screws inside and everything..... so im dumping that POS gun. The Rem 870 comes apart MUCH easier than these "non military firearms".... so thats my main point really.

  • This video saved my shotgun.

  • Cool video

  • Great vid, very clear!

  • I have owned my Wingmaster for over 20 years now - still shoots like it was new. Best. Shotgun. Ever.

  • thanks just bought a new 870 couldn get my head wrapped around the owners manuel came apart like a charm

  • 13 people still can't understand the mechanics of a simple weapon system and I hope they do not own any form of a firearm

  • Thank you!!!

  • was my first shotgun and is still my favorite!

  • My dad's got a 870 Wingmaster that's probably 30 years old. The only problem with the entire gun is that it has a bit of blueing worn one one spot. Never with loads has it had any problems. Simple, reliable, easy to maintain not only a hunters gun but also a very good home defense gun.

  • yep id fuck it

  • guns kill people! you cant have that!

  • @Kombucha639 Of course guns kill people, but people are allowed to own them. Like pistols for self defense, shotguns and sniper rifles for hunting. Also people like FPSRussia have special persmission from law enforcement and others to use them at their will. You can own a gun, but you cant go crazy with it.

  • @Kombucha639 You might have the downs..just saying kid go back to eating play-doh

  • This is the best short and sweet video on the takedown/reassembly of the 870! I've relied on it many times. How in the world can this video have 12 dislikes?

  • I have no idea why the bolt and bolt carrier won't come out of my 870 express magnum? When I depress the left shell stop and pull foward it just clicks back into place I don't get it.

  • @thefamcnaj Some of the newer ones have a stop on the right side as well and that needs to be depressed as well. they are staggered somewhat to allow you to depress one and then move the carrier forward a bit and then depress the other one and it will come right out. Hope this helps. I have a Rem 870 Express 12 ga btw.

  • very nice

  • This was very helpfull with the takedown of my Hawk 982. Thank you!

  • 12 people apparently are too young to own guns...or too stupid to notice a good video when they see one.

  • @turbodremz23

    Or liberals....

  • A no-nonsense helpful how-to. Thanks dvd tracker.

  • The 870 is the AK47 of shotguns :D

  • @theroyalgrapefruit That would actually be a Saiga shotgun...

  • @theroyalgrapefruit not to be a dick or anything but id say a saiga shotgun is the ak47 of shotguns

  • @stepupboy334 He was talking about popularity, not design

  • @Airsoft870 ok i know about the popularity but i figured its the ak47 stye of shotguns

  • @theroyalgrapefruit I like that

  • @theroyalgrapefruit accually its the M16 of combat shotguns, because its the most customisable shotgun and what it was built for when you shoot is done well.

  • @theroyalgrapefruit Technically, that would be the Saiga :P

  • @theroyalgrapefruit LOL the saiga 12 is the AK of shotguns

  • @theroyalgrapefruit no the ak 47 is the 870 of assult rifles.

  • Download manuals for free in pdf format from remington website

  • ty for this video i bought an 870 the other day & it didnt come with a manual this video helped me very much A++++++++++++++++++

  • i just got 2 yesterday!!

  • why would 12 people vote this vid down?

  • @jcashrednek beacause they're probably whinny-anti gun-liberal cry babies

  • @jondoethereturn thoese are the type of people i would love to aim the gun at =]

  • Thanks for another Great video. Everything you need and nothing else.

    gil..

  • thanks a lot!!! this was really helpful!!!!!

  • ya its for all the remington 870's

  • Pretty sure it's the same for all 870s

  • مششششششششششششششكـَوِرِ يـآإبـطل من زِمـآإن وِـآإنآإ ـآإبحث عـنه

  • @msr3bshwesh what??????

  • Well done.

  • Just bought a Remington 870 and wanted to make sure it was cleaned before I took it out. Thank you for showing me that it is not difficult to take apart or put together.

  • thank you very much! I watched this video, then i took apart my remington 870 express magnum and cleaned it. then, i put the thing back together. This video was very helpful. keep up the good work!

  • Comment removed

  • helped me a bunch, just FYI remember to push the safety slide release next to the trigger guard when re-instering the slide or it wont go in all the way..i had to tap it with a hammer get it mine in

  • Thank you for taking the time to make this easy on me! maybe next you could be the first to show us how to install a scope mount.

  • Great Video !

Worked just fine on a 870 Marine Magnum as well.

  • how often is it suitable to disassemble and clean gun? besides the barrel and chamber.

  • @daniel4free That depends on how, and in what environment the gun was used.

Mostly i use my 870 for skeet shooting. It seems to need a complete cleaning after 1500 shots fired.

Of course i clean the barrel after each visit on the range, typically 125 shots fired.

Use a bronze brush to keep chamber clean.

After a day hunting, i only clean the barrel. I do the complete clean at the end of the season.

Do not use too much oil or grease, a few drops of oil in the mechanism is all it needs.

  • Oh my god man you just solved a problem I've had with my 870 for years, I reassembled it but for got the bolt carrier, I just took the trigger assemble out and walla, I got the bolt out, thanks so much, I feel like a total moron

  • wow very informative. thanks

  • Thanks so much for this video .

  • Just got an 870 for christmas can't wait to shoot it!

  • Really nice disassembly video. Thanks.

  • if you get the right part would you be able to convert it in to a semi?

  • is it normal for the bolt to jiggle a tiny bit?

  • thanks so much for the vid, it will be a great help in making my prop

  • this video was absolutely awesome thank you for providing it.

  • I got a 870. + vidz of it ^_^

  • Just picked up a synthetic 870 today. I wanted wood But the synthetic is alright....I only paid $200 at Basspro

  • can anyone tell me real quick, what kinda steel is the barrel made out of??

  • @migitinabikini The steel kind of steel. Duh.

  • @AverageNoob1 *facepalm* of course! thanks!

  • how often is this required??

  • @EveryBodySucks100 U dont gotta do a total dissasembly ever, it's just if u know what ur doing and really wanna take care of that sucker :D

  • OH SHIT! I'm buying one tomorrow for home defense and this just intimidated the shit out of me. How often will a person have to do this? Is this full disassembly required for cleaning?

  • 4:02 FAIL :D lol

  • Make your order now # lushfmlk.info #

  • Very good video. I had a little trouble putting the slide back together but all and all a good job. Thanks

  • yea the 870 mcs

  • Great instructions as far as efficientcy... but theres something of greater importance! please tell me what that hammer is and where i can get one÷¡ thats a beauty!

  • @Usmcspartan420 That's exactly what I'm saying! I really could use one of those. I use the handle of a screwdriver and a drill tip to push the out the retaining pins for the trigger assembly on my old charles Daly 20 gauge shotgun. I use a Yildiz 12 gauge now for skeet shooting. But the 20 gauge is a lot more fun to field strip and clean than the over-under 12 gauge I use now. Both are great shotguns though. What would you use that hammer for though?

  • Thank you so much!

  • Great video. Thanks

  • On my 870 the endcap on the magazine has to be pushed in and rotated 90 degrees to remove it, seems to be a design improvment.

  • thank you so much. just got my 870, and was loosing my mind trying to get it apart.. cheers

  • bchokola - you need to learn how to clear and FTE properly.

  • Anyone can buy and keep a shotgun in US?

  • @666Victor777 - Unless you live in the District of Columbia or Chicago, pretty much, yes. There are a few places in California and New England that ban all kinds of guns, but for most of the US, if you're a US citizen 18 years old or older, not legally insane and not a criminal, yes you pretty much can.

  • @3055DOG California constitution has preemption on firearms laws. The only things that might be different from place to place are how likely a sheriff is to issue a CCW permit, and maybe some restrictions on ammo shipments. That's about it.

  • @EveryMn - And CA has a ban on magazine sizes, some firearms are banned by name, and there are a list of CA-approved firearms. San Fran used to have a near-total handgun ban - if they gave that up, I suppose that's changed - and there were other locales that were worse. If the folks at CalGuns have gotten that changed... well, awesome!

  • what is the best performing/reliable pump shotgun on the market??

  • @xlxGh0sTxlx The remington 870 is the most popular shotgun ever produced. Its simple, relialbe, inexpensive and good quality. It's a safe buy if you're looking for your first shotgun.

  • @Snipe4261 well tbh that was not the answer i was looking for, i was researching shotguns the best of their kind, and ive come to the conclusions:

Best Pump Action Shotguns: - SDASS Tactical and Supernova

Best Semi Automatic Shotguns:- Super Black Eagle II and Remmington 11-87

Best Automatic Shotguns: clearly AA-12 and also SAIGA-12

btw im not taking cost into account obviously, im considering best performance and reliability, do you agree with this? lol

  • @xlxGh0sTxlx If you want to ask specifically about reliability and preformance in pump shotguns those things are kind of a non-issue in modern shotguns by their very nature. Pump shotguns can basically not experinece reliability issues unless they have a massive mechanical failure which is so rare as to be practically impossible. Shotguns are by no means precision instruments so preformance is not really reliant upon brand or model the way it would be with other classes of firearms.

  • @Snipe4261 well come on which would you chose? if you could have a free one.... a Remington 870 or SDASS tactical? lol

  • @xlxGh0sTxlx That depends, what I am using the shotgun for?

  • @Snipe4261 anything, hunting, general practice,... whatever you want to use it for lol

  • @xlxGh0sTxlx If I hunted a lot I would choose the Remington 870 because that's what the gun was designed for. If I were going into combat or concerned with home defense I would choose the SDASS tactical becasue that's what it was designed for. However, given the choice I would never take a shotgun into an armed conflict when I had a rifle avaliable. I am guessing that your list of "best" shotguns is based on their usefulness in combat, since most of them would be illegal to use for hunting.

  • @Snipe4261 i was assuming that you would say you wouldnt use a shotgun in combat lol, and yes my list is based on combat weapons

  • Thanks for making this video. Video was to the point and professionally done. Helped me a lot as a new 870 owner. I just love my new 870 express (7 shot).

  • i have this gun and i love it

  • Hey thank for this Video. BIG HELP!!!!!

  • Thanx for the great video, I've been hesitant to takedown my 870s [a12 and a 20] using the user's manual only, even though all the info. is right there. With your assistance I just broke-down, cleaned and reassembled both guns without difficulty. Keep up the great work!

  • Outstanding video. Picture quality was good and you hit the key points. I hope you do a video on the proper cleaing.

  • Great video, thanks!

  • rediculously simple, Remington <3

  • Man, this video taught me exactly what I needed - Thanks!

  • wow kinda crazy how simply the barrel just kinda falls off.. lol

  • hey i have a pump action stevens shotgun (on my youtube page) it wont load the next shell in the chamber when i pump it back so i have to load each shell individually in the chamber. can you help me figure out the problem? thanks.

i think the shells are not transitioning smoothly from the tubular magazine to the chamber....

  • Also it's a shell carrier!

  • The Locking Bolt sits on the Slide the Slide rides on the Action bars. Man use the correct names for the parts please!!!!

  • nice birthday gift

  • you hav to kinda pull them out with a fingernail or a little screwdriver it took me and my dad 30mins to figure it out.

  • I have a 870 Pump. My Slide WILL NOT go back in. You guys got any suggestions before I take it to a Gunsmith?

  • You gotta press the shell locks *I think that's what they're called" inside the chamber.

  • did you push the right shell retainer in first or is it the right way in

  • You won't break the IAC Hawk 982. It's a clone of the 870 but built like a tank. It's my primary HD gun.

  • Got an 870 yesterday and watched video and read manual. This is the hardest gun to assemble at the point of 3:37-3:50 pushing the slide back in. Not as easy as the video. The one weak point I have to complain about so far. You could BREAK this gun. Maybe I got a defective one but others are complaining about this too.

  • @pennless8 put the gun in between your legs facing out. use your right hand to push the left lever in and your left to push the right in using your pointers or midle fingers if your fingers are big like mine. then let gravity set it in place

  • @flingan95 You have to pull it back and push it forwards yourself.

  • Thank You!! I just bought a new stock from Cabela's. This was the video I needed to do the swap.

  • Awesome video on the Remington 870 take down.... Very professional... thanks for posting it!!

  • Thanks for posting the video. I got this gun when my dad passed away and apparently was not completely disassembling is for proper cleaning. The video was to the point and very helpfull...again, thanks for posting it.

  • Thanks for this video....it explained everything perfectly in simple terms.

  • Most Helpful vid for showing me how to put this back together! Thanks!

  • This and the mossberg are great shotguns for the price.

  • I'm new to guns...but I use remington oil and wipe everything down, then dry buff a bit. Thing loves it and functions smooth. What's the story with carrying ammo in your gun case...no no?

  • Great video. I extended the magazine into a tactical gun. I had to dremel out the little dimple at the end of the magazine...then a new tube and spring go on the mag. Now I have a 7 + 1 in the chamber. Nice. Next up is getting good with the slug barrel and scope. Thanks so much for the video. Tomorrow I'm teaching my 12 year old daughter how to shoot. Joining the NRA after this post. Fuck off New World Order. Love live the 2nd ammendment and freedom. ps. dollars fucked by silver.

  • Very good video! Is it the same for the newer 870s too?

  • @Lotutec I have 2 brand-new 870s, they match the video just fine....

  • @Lotutec the only difference might be the magazine plug is removed by pushing in and a quater turn left to remove.

  • thanks for the vid i quickly needed to know how to disassemble my 870 a shell got lodged under the trap that u gotta push down to put the shell in thanks very much

  • to remove the cap on the magazine tube you push in then twist. the spring will then push it out

  • it seems like cleaning the mossy 500 is easier...its porbably just my bias cause i have a 500

  • I had a hard time getting the slide back in. The problem was moving the two shell blocks and sliding. Takes a little practice but that was easily the hardest part of the tear down and put back together.

Other than that the Remington 870 is great.

  • yeah i just got one and took it down for the first time and had the same problem, you have to slide it to just the right point so that you can lock one in and are still able to lock the other.

  • On my used rem 870 i had lots of empty shells stuck in chamber.

I got rid of that problem by polishing the chamber, and removing accumulated corrosion and powder residue ,using an electric drill with a bronz brush and using a good amount of gun oil in chamber, when doing so.

I also checked magazine tube alignment. On my gun the magazine tube may have been bent, slightly towards barrel(up), and after correcting that, i have fired over 200 shells without any problems whatsoever.

  • I got that thing jammed this one time with a failure to extract. Stupidly, I didn't unload any shells. I put the butt on the ground and pushed a ramrod down the barrel while my girlfriend pulled down on the slide. As soon as that shell ejected, she shucked the slide forward loading the next round out of habit with my hand at the muzzle (she was new)... Never before have I been so close to crying like a little girl. Since then I've been safer and I've polished the barrel a bit.

  • @bchokola wow...just wow...i cant even imagine how i would have reacted in that situation

just be thankful is all i can say

  • @bchokola so your hand got shot off?

  • Synthetic lasts longer, and is lighter, but gives more kick. Also I have heard bad things about the super mag edition, they seem to jam more often.

  • im getting a remington 870 super mag, should i get the wood stock or synthetic?

  • I went to clay shooting, and an empty shell was stuck in the barel, pump was stuck, and to be safe, decided to manually unload all the shells from the mag. I took off the barell, and like a noob, accidently pulled the bolt and the metal piece under it. while trying to put it all back together, the bolt slides all the way back to the hammer, without the metal piece under it, now its disconnected from the pump; cant shoot, cant pump, nothing. Took off the trigger assembly, and bolt came right out.

  • hehe I did the same thing when I first got my 870. I never had my own shotgun before and I didn't know they need to be broken in. Shell got stuck when I fired the first shot so I yanked the barrel out and out came the bolt and the slide deal, and right into the sand they fell. I was pissed. Did you lose the metal slide piece from under the bolt?

  • Thanks so much, couldn't get the bolt and slide back in.When you mentioned the shell stops, I looked at the one on the right side of mine, and it had moved forward.I tapped it back and now it's back together.

  • Very god.

  • Thank you for uploading this video! I think it is the most instructive and well made i ever seen. This video actually made me to decide buying a remington 870 wingmaster.

Before buying it, i tried both the mossberg 500a and the 870 on clay pigeon shooting and the 870 feels a lot more well balanced, and i like the stock and forend better on the 870.

Im very happy with my 870 wingmaster. ☺

  • Thanks, I just bought one of these and took it apart to wipe it down. (rained today) I then couldn't figure out how to get the bolt back in. You saved me from having to go back to the dealer and looking like an idiot.lol thanks again.

  • thx very much. i am anew gun owner and the video helped greatly

  • You inhereted a good gun though. If you get that thing refurbished, I swear it will be one of the best firearms you've ever owned. I love mine to death, I doubt I'll ever need to buy another shotgun.

  • best video on how to put this back together thanks a bunch man it helped me a lot

  • thanks i took my 870 apart but i could not get the trigger group and boit back in the gun.

  • very nice. ive seen some horrible videos on the 870. this one is great

  • I Just bought my first shotgun 870 remington express. i cannot eject the live round that is currently in it since i cannot move the ejector due to it being stuck. can i remove the barrel and get it out?

    Thanks

  • Thank you for posting this. I inherited an old Nevada Highway Patrol 8
