how old r u guys reviewing this movie??? any of you have kids??? my 3 kids love the movie and so did my wife & i, so i guess we're better off leaving the review to the children who has better judgement obviously than us grown ups who disects a movie piece-by-piece until there's none left to enjoy. watch the movie from a kids point of view.....enjoy the movie more...
actually I dont think so. movies of this type should be able to entertain kids and the adults. also I dont think you need to have kids to be able to review this movie. when reviewing a movie like this you should have both the adults and children in mind. just because your kids enjoyed it more doesnt mean that they have better judgement than the tafferboy 21. some kids are too easily impressed for that.
I agree with some points but it wasn't just about hacking monsters and shit, it was also about this kid who has his parents splitting up. Now that was pointless, but what's even worse about the subplot is that at the end, Jared says "mind if I stay with you?" to his idiot mother, now he should have gone off with Mr. Spiderwick to magic-land!
They changed a lot from the books. I don't just mean compressing the story, I mean changing things. Of course, they always do that with movies based on books.
i will agree though the sister in this film mallory i think her name is ye she is really annoying proberly the least convincing character.

good performances, good effects. and for a childrens movie pretty dark

Yes, it had its moments no doubt. But the acting was still horrible, and the storyline was hopelessly generic.
