I will admit yes the band doesn sound the same without Jerry. Jerry was one of a kind, but Warren is the perfect guy to fill in. Warren is one of a kind guy also. Warren has a hell of schedule touring with the Dead, Allmans, and with the Mule. If there is anyone like Jerry out there its Warren. They are both legends, and both are my heroes.

I'm with dmholmes. I saw dead at rothbury as well. Great show but its definitely a different sound. Their new band Furthur with John Kadlecik from DSO sounds much more authentic IMO. YOu ever been to A Phish Show man?? I was just like you and Saying Phish Sucked and I saw them at one of there Festivals and was hooked. I am a Deadhead all the way. But the Dead is the Dead. Phish is Phish Warren is Warren and No is better than Jerry Garcia. Warren brings a different vibe to the band. Jerry was the best his licks and Rolls, Pops and Slides no one can compare. I have seen the Dead with Warren and it is different. Warren can play, but he plays like Warren Haynes not Jerry Garcia.

@eneyeseeyou As a huge fan of both The Grateful Dead and Phish, I would say that yes Phish songs are more complex in the Avant Garde funny weird sense. But the Dead definitely are more complex in a Jazzy/Blues way. You think Phish thought up Vocal Jams? Check out 3.24.73 He Gone. But Give it up for Phish, completely a Capella Free Bird! I forgot which year but its in Las Vegas. So good, better than any Dead vocal Jam IMO, well... Pigpen had some amazing stuff that Phish never emulated.
