  • hey guys im not joking on this Kitty Dukakis is my great aunt. Micheal Dukakis is my great uncle. I visit him every here and there.

  • What a bitter, robotic and swarthy little man. His hate-filled tirade at that embarrassing '88 Dem convention in Atlanta proved he was not presidential material. Normally, the party out-of-power wins the White House after 8 years. But in '88, Mike Dukakis managed to lead Dems to a 3rd-straight, humiliating, landslide loss after having a lead as large as 17 points in late August. He offered nothing but hate & vitriol. America rewarded him with only 10 states & total repudiation of his nonsense.

  • @redletter2008 "swarthy little man" You have a problem with olive skin? Racist idiot.

  • @nikoz78 No. I have olive skin your saintlyness! Half Asian/half Irish. Swarthy, as I used it (and used hilariously in an SNL skit with John Lovitz portraying Dukakis) is used more to describe someone that is an urban schlemp. But your response is common of "Obama-era" whiners, themselves the most hateful bunch in the country (look at OWS trash) & always chomping at the bit to brand anyone who hurts their feelings or has differing views as a racist. It doesn't work anymore. Sorry.

  • @redletter2008 God, you're dumb. First off, your comment was clearly racist. "Olive skin" usually only applies to Italians and Greeks (Mediterraneans). Asians would be "yellow," Latino/Arabic would be "brown." Anyway, what you said was bigoted, no matter how you try to spin it. And what are you talking about Obama for, you fucking idiot? Never mentioned him once. In actual fact, I'm a Independent-Libertarian, and support Ron Paul. Now hurry, don't want to miss the bus for school.

  • @nikoz78 I hope you enjoyed your little tirade here, because I intend to see that it is the last you make on youtube for some time. You violated a number of terms of agreement items in your curse-filled explosion of stupidity and hate, not to mention your outright racist references - no matter how you spin it. Comprende?

  • @redletter2008 Report this: you're a ignorant little piss-ant, a know-it-all that doesn't KNOW anything, an inexperienced little bitch with a sense-of-entitlement, a keyboard warrior who acts tough while hiding behind a pc, a racist white BOY who is narcissistic, and you can go FUCK YOURSELF. Olive skin is beautiful, just ask your sister. Report that you punk ass little bitch.

  • This is a very edited version of the speech. The original speech was over twice as long.

  • My Dad loved him before he died in 1992!!! :)

  • Wow, look at the radicals & the amount of Jews involved in the Dukakis campaign. People like: Elena Kagan, Madeleine Albright, Larry Summers, James Steinberg, Gene Sperling, Josh Steiner, Todd Stern, Vicky Rideout, Leslie Dach, Vanessa Kirsch, & Michael Barr... I think they are almost all Jews!

  • Had Bush not smeared him with the Horton ads and lies about his wife and whisper campaigns....Dukakis would have won that race and saved the country from the double Bush disasters...primary W Bush ever succeeding his father.

  • @brandonWSH Not once the people of United States saw him in or on a tank. What a joke this guy was/is!

  • @OdinsCloud 'Read my Lips' the real joke was his opponent. Once elected he enjoyed sticking multiple feet in his mouth and reguarly eating his words...then if you want rolling on the floor humor, look at the "joke" creature he created and called a son...dumb ape of a man...Yeah so Dukakis got in a tank....both Bush's ran the country under the tank mulitple times. Yeah we would have been much better off with the Duke.

  • @brandonWSH I was not a big fan of either Bush or Clinton. But Dukakis was way too lefty for my taste & he was not electable on a national scale.

  • @brandonWSH Dukakis was a horrible candidate in terms of presentation though. He held a strong record but was like Gore as a public speaker; with that broken and arrogant air to him. If you listen to this speech he pauses before completing some of his best lines, much like Gore did in 2000. It comes off as broken and half-hearted.

  • @TheGeekyNinjaStudios As opposed to what? The smirky chimp W or his stuffy daddy GHW ..they sure as hell weren't charsimatic speakers. This was a great speech; and must have been effective since he lead Bush by 20 points after the convention. It was the disgusting Bush smear campaign that brought him down; and the idiot American voter who falls for such garbage.

  • @marcostar57 Have you seen the debate 2000 video? W was charismatic as hell. Dukakis had no enthusiasm in 1988 and it stood out in the debates. Also, if you cannot fight a smear campaign then you are a weak nominee. Obama won in 2008 with full media backing (smearing mccain left and right) and like Dukakis McCain proved noneffective in responding. Politics are about style, not substance.

  • Dukakis reminds me of Captain Kirk from Star Trek....which makes me like him even more! XD

  • he's obviously a stupid communist canadian with an un-american Jew name...deport his ass to mexico!!!!!!

democrats = the party of SATAN!!!!!

  • @LDD86

    HAHAHA

    I love trolls. #LOL

  • Good old Michael "I Look Like An Ass In This Tank" Dukakis

  • @1982RRusso That Tank publicity stunt backfired on him so badly, even the Russians were laughing!

  • Comment removed

  • Michael Who? Jesse Jackson was a more dynamic and brilliant nominee and should've won, but his anti-Semitic comments turned off many Jewish voters and many white Democrats still would not vote for a black man (even though he was infinitely better). Jesse Jackson is still a man of importance today, while the loser Dookie is forgotten.

  • @hatmap Jewish voters, you mean the people of hymietown..? less than 2% of the population why would they stop his chances of winning election? Do you think they are somehow overrepresented beyond their physical numbers? Why would a white guy want a nigger in the white house?

  • darn...i wanted to see the traditional balloon drop at the end

  • Anyone That Would Support Dukakis Must Me A Masshole

  • FUCK YOU STINKY FUCKIN REPUBLICANS!!!!

  • "President Dukakis" Thank God that didn't happen.

  • @Chad3150 What an asshole you are! We needed a man with sincerity & decency in office back then!

  • Comment removed

  • Mike Duakakis is a good man and would've made a good President but he was a bad Politician

  • Mike Dukakis had a 17 point lead over George Bush going into September 88 & then one bogus Willy Horton commercial came out that Dukakis couldn't get past & that was all she wrote

  • Dukakis lost because he was a pathetic loser like mondale, carter, and mcgovern.

  • He would of turned the white house into a diner or a pizza place.. lol Proud to be from Massachusetts!!!

  • If only he hadn't been a wimp. If he'd fucking fought back against Bush, maybe just maybe Bush would have lost.

  • Get down here Dukakis and answer these questions!

  • He was too liberal for America.

  • @pimmagrimm much too liberal, not to mention wimpy!

  • What a stupid stupid man. This man had no business being nominated.

  • A liberal, weak and boring democrat! This guy had the same wrong ideas that Obama has, but he was such a wimp.

  • I can't stand the Bush's but I lived in Massachusetts with this moron as my Governor and he was the WORST. I was so glad to see him lose, am more happier that he is out of poltics. But I sure miss Bill clinton. Dukakis had no buisness getting the presidential nomination

  • dukakis is a loser. these were the days. 3 gop landslides in a row! it would have been 4 if perot would have stayed out in 92

  • Lee Atwater paid for how he divided this country with lies and fear. He died a slow excruciating death, that gave him time to examine the misguided life he lived. Scriptures say "vengeance is mine I shall repay..." and vengeance is what all the world got to see.

  • He would have been such a good president!

  • He would have been a great president.

  • @seltian "great president"!!!! Americans threw him into the garbage can where he belonged!

Why did he love Willy Horton more than honest Americans?

Can't understand that and no left-wingers will explain!

  • Sadly, he was too much of a liberal wimp.

  • What are they chanting in the crowd?

  • @bma051000 welfare cheese !

  • just think of what the USA would be like if he won. NO BUSH 43

  • The beginning of Lee Atwater political campaigns...who cares about the issues or beliefs? Let's just get our guy elected and kill the other guy. You might not agree with what he said or believe, but the Duke was/is a great man who deserved better.

  • @TBarrasso35 dON'T BE TOO MUCH OF A PUSSY , YOULL end up smelling like anchovies

  • names please

  • Wow...this was on my birthday.

  • if the democratic party is for the low income, poor and middle class.....then dont they need to make sure you remain poor so you will keep voting for them?

  • The Democratic Party is nothing but a corporate schill.

  • @NYJared04 and republicans aren't?

  • er

    an 8 minute speech

    wtf

    lol

  • marcostar57..........I could not have said it better myself , you took the words right out of my mouth. We would have already had univ hc-single payer system in this country by now had we not wasted 4 or 8 yrs under republican control of office. imagine we had had Dukakis, Mondale, Clinton and now Obama and Carter before. Middle Class working families wouldm really be in a better place.

  • Man, I would have wanted to break the neck of that jerkoff with the airhorn at the end.

  • Scary little Bastard!!!!!

  • I recently saw an old "Saturday Night Live" mock-campaign ad in which Michael Dukakis was a puppet. I honestly don't get the gag?

  • If only he was black.....

  • Ahh 1988, the year Daddy Hitler ran the greatest smear campaign in presidential history and sadly enough the sheep fell for it hook line and sinker. Mr. dukakis was a breath of fresh air after the tyranny and corruption of fascist ronnie and company..

  • Boy aren't you RIGHT! I was astonished at the media & the voters for falling for all the sick BS that year. What a better country & world we would be today if Dukakis had been elected,

  • Absolutely! Dukakis is a great man, and would have been a great and competent President

  • @argentozombi I highly doubt that.

  • Thank God he didn't win!

  • It's too bad that he lost in 1988. At the age of 19, he was the first person I ever voted for. He was a sensible progressive, and his only problem was that he took the high road during the campaign. It was the 1988 campaign that put me on anger management issues against the right-wing. And of course, 1988 is all the proof in the world that "the mainstream media isn't/wasn't as liberal as right-wing people purport them to be."

  • Your opinion does not count. You silly Fox News watching Rush Limbaugh worshipping goon.

  • Dukakis's loss was his own fault. If he had been the star of "High Noon", Grace Kelly would have said:

"Why did you just stand there, and let him shoot you?"

Of course, the Bushes are motherfuckers. How else do Republicans win?

  • Governor Dukakis gave the worst acceptance speech in American history.

  • Dukakis was GREAT! HE lost because of the the SMEAR campaign of motherfukcer bush..

  • I agree and his son won in 2000 by smearing McCain in the primaries about fathering a black baby, but he actually adopted a girl from Bangledesh. This was done in South Carolina.

  • @Michthemitch

no.. HE lost becauso of the smear campaign implemented by lee Atwater..... "father" of Carl Rove...

  • @Michthemitch Not really he is one of those politicians only electable in Massachusetts. Just Like Ted Kennedy was!

  • He ran the Worst Campaign in history, second only to Al Gore.

  • Dukakis had no buisness getting the Democratic nomination

  • If Ducakis won he would be a great president because he would abolished the deathpenalty and ballance busgets. He should pick Bill Clinton for his VP insted of Benson.

  • I love The Duke!

  • It's absolutely despicable what Bush 41, Atwater and the rest of the Republican party cronies did to Mike Dukakis.

  • It's even more despicable how the American plebs reacted to Dukakis competely principled and reasonable reply to Bernard Shaw in that debate. It showed that the American plbels always prefers emotions over reason.

  • Dukakis P 1988 Bentson VP 1988-1990 Resigns

    Clinton Vp 1990-1993

  • You mean that wasteful spending hasn't been a problem with modern Republican presidents? Lord, have you seen the figures of debt and deficit during the administrations of Reagan and Bush? That's scary. Clinton was several times the president Reagan was. Smaller government, surpluses, education, we were in our prime in the nineties. That's what we need, more flexibility and less partisanship.

Dukakis would have been a great president with superior character. Pick some new heroes.

  • I didn't say Reagan and Bush were my heroes. Wasteful spending was a problem for Republicans but far worse for democrats. BTW Clinton had a Republican congress. 90's were great

  • I wouldn't say it's worse yet. I'll have to see the total numbers first. With luck, if he is an irresponsible spender, Obama will serve one term and then Michael Bloomberg will run.

  • Bloomberg's got no party affiliation after so many changes. He seems like a Republican now since he won't raise nyc taxes to avoid wealthier job owners to leave the city and risk jobs. Either way Obama will serve just one term because he can't control the crazy Dem controlled supermajority congress, and his own agenda that will destroy us. Its amazing how people elected a new deal type liberal like obama who was just like Mondale and Dukakis. He should have been landslided easily!

  • we will probably collapse anyway.

  • thats right but 1st we must elect more republicans.. then we get rid of osama jr in the white house.

  • We don't need republicans to provide no plans to help our economy.

  • Nice grammar!

  • I don't worry about grammar when I am typing fast and a when a thought comes to my mind. I don't worry about it when I write informally. You worry about making through college. College boy

  • Your screen name says luvs2teachoo. I assumed you were educated. I am a teacher, and that is why I commented.

  • Do you have to take classes to be this stupid?

  • Bush SR was a disaster !!!!

  • "Bush SR was a disaster !!!!"

Yer right, why? Because George Bush was for New World Order. Michael Dukakis would've slowed down the new world order process.

  • libs suck

  • conservatives are sick in their mind

  • well uh at least we don't kill our babies.

  • We don't send our troops to a wrong war, (iraq) where thousands of us young men were killed.

  • ever hear of vietnam faggot

  • Funny because the "Massachusetts Miracle" went bust after Dukasis' tax and spend policies hit the fan during the recession of the late 80's early 90's.

  • Dukakis was ahead in the polls for most of that year. Everything just went wrong for him.

  • Dukakis reminds me of a news anchor man. Or maybe a game show host.just dosent seem like someone i can see as president

  • I dont know..I do that too, trying to picture them as president and I could see it, but a news anchor too :)

  • He only got 111 electoral votes compared to H.W. Bush's 426. He is the last Democratic nominee to lose in a landslide. Since 1992, the Democratic nominee has either won by a landslide or lost by just one state that would have made the difference, and the republicans have either lost by a landslide or won by a razer thin margin. Not looking good for the GOP. And the last time the Republican's won without the Bush Family was in 1972.

  • The last two democratic victories were decisive, not lanslides. 1988 was decisive aswell, just much larger electoral margins. Obama didn't win in a lanslide. All theirs were were electoral college lanslides. a true lanslide is with a big popular vote margin and electoral college. meaning something like Johnson/Goldwater or Reagen/Carter or Reagen/Mondale

  • That is a good point. Bush won over Dukakis because of Reagan's popularity, negative campaign ads, and the unbreakable coalition (at the time) of white working class Reagan democrats in the rust belt states and white Southerners. The base is not as strong as it used to becase Obama broke through that like Clinton did in 92 and 96 but with help of a 3rd party.

  • bush/quayle88

  • Dukakis never had a chance . . . after the eight years of progress under Reagan, did anyone for a SECOND think that we would regress back to liberalism???

  • When this speech was given, it was actually very well recieved, and deservedly so. Many called it the highlight of his career at that point. Of course, revisionist history now makes Dukakis "uncool". Whatever.

  • lightness1882, that's not true. He won the popular vote in ten states: MA, NY, RI, WV, IA, WI, MN, OR, WA, and HI. You're thinking of Walter Mondale, the 1984 Democratic nominee. He only won Minnesota his home state.

  • dukakis spoke at our school last week.

he did what he always does...

    ramble.

    a lot.

    /:

  • One of the worst campaigns/candidates in history. America was not going to elect a non-death penalty, uber liberal. I also never understood why people thought the Willie Horton ads were so offensive; they were completely accurate and addressed a legitimate issue.

  • & believe it or not, this guy had a huge lead at one point

  • Dude, you fling the word "nigger" around like it's nothing. Show a little respect.

  • @randomname349 no kidding, nigger

  • well believe it 365-173 electoral votes 53%- 46% popular vote(both in favor of Obama)

  • Courtesy of Obama's pals at ACORN.

  • Willie Horton was first mentioned by Al gore in the 88 primary race. Dukakis lost becasue he was an ACLU liberal. The truth is not dirty.

  • Dukakis was asked if his wife Kitty was raped and murdered would he want the guy who did it to get executed. Dukakis said no.

He had to be full of shit about that answer.

  • I wouldn't want the guy to be killed, either, if it happened to my wife. Revenge solves nothing, and it makes me sick to think of myself as someone who would take pleasure or satisfaction in seeing someone else killed. The murderer obviously felt pleasure and satisfaction in some part when he committed the crime, and I'd like to think I'm better than that and wouldn't need someone to die to make me feel better about the situation.

  • Well, that's good then. Whatever.

  • I think you're the one being cocky. Obama's speech last night was utterly incredible. I'm actually watching Dukakis's speech from 88 for a laugh because it was so lame compared to what Obama did yesterday. Obama's arguably the first candidate since 1960 who doesn't make Democrats think "Oh crap, what have we done".

  • What?? Are you serious?? The Dems can't agree to disagree. The Dems are have been so hijacked by liberal socialists is isn't even funny.

  • Sean Hannity made Dukakis look like a dumbass last night after the Bill Clinton speech at the DNC.. He asked him what qualifies Obama to be president and all Dukakis could say was healthcare LOL Michael Dukakis worst presidential candidate since Jimmy Carter

  • Hannity is not a journalist and his entire job is screaming about liberals. Dukakis is not running for President.

P.S. How's this for why Obama would make a better candidate:

    1) Getting us out of Iraq (you can't win an occuptation) and not sabre-rattling with Russia anymore (another Cold War? No thanks, McCain)

    2) Tax cuts for 95+% of Americans vs. less than 20% of Americans.

    3) A more robust energy policy that doesn't focus on drilling (which every economist agrees is not a sound policy).

  • Also it's hilarious to see Republicans flocking to the last time they actually had a better candidate than the other side.

Kinda makes you forget how every GOP candidate from 1992 on was an absolute disaster and their only presidential win since then resulted in a multi-trillion dollar deficit (fiscal conservative, eh?) and one of the worst presidencies in history by anyone's estimation.

But by all means, keep socking it to a dude who ran in 1988. I'm sure you're hurting his feelings real bad!

  • And Obama won't be any better, hes already proposing 13 TRILLION in new spending, no way of solving the deficit and taxing everyone to death, reminds me of the early Clinton administration. Remember that?

  • "Tax cuts for 95% of Americans "

Don't count on it. Clinton promised a tax cut as well. Then his first budget gave us the biggest tax increase in history. Democrats never cut taxes. If Obama wins, we all will pay.

    "A more robust energy policy"

What is the policy exactly? It's another Obama pledge with no specifics.

Sorry if I seem brash, but both candidates are getting away with talking in platitudes & non specifics. I want to know EXACTLY waht the intend to pursue if elected.

  • 44th president Barack Obama thats all I have to say

  • Obama/Biden '08 !!!!!!!

  • Believe it or not, Dukakis was over 15 points ahead in the polls during the Summer of '88. Things of course went down hill after that and then totally fell apart. I was 22 and voluntered on his campaign back in the day.

  • personal attacks? i wonder if telling u he was gonna tax u had more to do w/ it

  • I still wonder how Dukakis N' his campaign made It through the Primaries.....I jus got into the political process but I haV noticed that Democrats are synonymous for puttin' out Lame candidates like Mondale, McGovern & Dukakis. I hope Obama does not end in the Democrats HaLL of Shame(Echo*5)....

  • Don't worry he won't.

  • man I am angered at the republicans for not giving this man a chance! He would have made a better president than Bush.

  • Give him a chance!? They tore him apart limb from limb, the republican party seeks to destroy all opposition by any means necessary, and that is why they must be defeated.

  • "the republican party seeks to destroy all opposition by any means necessary"

I agree and I'd say Democrats are the same way as well.

  • Wrong. Studies have shown that progressives (call them Democrats, liberals, whatever) are much less rigid in their world views than conservatives and more open to accommodating differing views. This can be either praise or criticism depending on your own personal philosophy.

The fact that the Democrats don't use the Republican playbook of "win at any cost" proves it further. The Democrats have run on "Can't we all just get along?" and lost, numerous times.

  • "Studies have shown that progressives (call them Democrats, liberals, whatever) are much less rigid in their world views than conservatives and more open to accommodating differing views." What studies? "The fact that the Democrats don't use the Republican playbook of "win at any cost" proves it further." Proves what? You're right. Democrats have their own play book to win at any cost. They are just as bad as Republicans.

  • Total moron

  • shit. The difference between Obama and Dukakis is guts. Dukakis didnt defend himself against attacks. Obama is on OFFENSE pounding on John McCain.

  • ....uhhh not to mention Dukakis was short, dull, uninspiring, boring, negative, and a terrible public speaker. Obama is the opposite in every regard. And just watch.. he will win over 300 electoral votes. Count on it.

  • ivfry

  • US lost a great opportunity to have a Greek man for president. what can I say that's a pity! and the worst thing is that he was beaten by Bush!!! oh my God!

  • Sounds like you are a hard-core Republican, or whatever.

  • no, The dems pick terrible candidates, how could they let Bush beat them twice if he was so bad, because the dems are worse

    Bring moderates to washington

  • Are u kidding? you really think McCain can beat Obama? Check out any electoral map you can find right now. Obama is ahead in more than enough states and will likely gian. Don't be so downcast... I'm telling you he will WIN.

  • McCain 270,Obama268 electroal map

  • Actually currently almost all the electoral maps have Obama with well more than 300 electoral votes. Some say 317 some 344, depends on which states he's ahead in each week. Either way McCain has a lot less than 270 and a much harder time getting there.

  • McCain+Bush+27% approval rating=President Obama

  • 17 point lead after this convention, to losing the election in November. Dukakis ran a terrible campaign and beat himself.

  • You could at least get it right. Al Gore raised the legitimate Willie Horton issue first against Dukakis in Iowa. What a racist he is huh?

  • A great man. with a great vision.

  • At the age of 19, my first presidential vote was for Governor Michael Dukakis. I am still disappointed that he did not become president.

  • The Democrats need to stop nominating New England liberals. People like Dukakis and Kerry will not win.

  • Funny. They're about to do it again only the New England liberal lives in Illinois.

  • Only he might win.

  • Won't happen, though. Once folks find out that all he really wants to do is explode the national debt and have $7 a gallon gasoline when he pulls out of Iraq overnight....it'll be over.

Oh - and despite his promises, he's not going to withdraw from Iraq, either - not the quick one he's claiming.
