you cant knock sasha hes been there since day 1 of the early acid house scene in the late 80's dj'ing illegal raves up n down england...hes been thru many different genres of electronic music under many different names & and the end of the day the guy is a pioneer of dance music & has influenced many many dj's and artists!! n if you dis-agree you obviously dont know your music!! 1 word 2 describe sasha .....LEGEND!!
Sasha and charlie may spent many a long time working on Xpander and Belfunk, you say he stole from Charlie May, i think they would both have thoughts on that Leftdust sort it out!
come on friends! sasha did not steal credit for expander. There is little common between the two songs. This one is great. But expander also feels inspired at most, not copied. Both charlie may and sasha are great producers and they have a good professional relationship as well if i am well informed.
classic tune although the version on northern exposure is longer & 100 million times better but ive yet 2 find a vinyl rip of it!!! oh i wish!! check it out for a better version of this track!!
@bunzl72 actually its not longer... you might be confusing the track mixing out prior... Doi-oing: Blue ...the 2 tracks were totally meant for each other :)
scary how good this track is, stand alone track for sure, dwarfs tracks around it. The only successful mix i have heard this track in was sasha/digweeds exposure cd.
Maaaaaan i feel like walking on clouds or some shit...this beat is legendary...i remember the good old scene here in Montreal, PQ,...long gone are those days...earing that made me saw the vibe again, the waves made by liquid dancers on snowball or any type of candy flips yo
WOW!!! what a fookin toon!!! spooky are so shit hot!! this is the best version by far! best tune on northern exposure 2 along with l.s.g - netherworld!!! althogh i belive the northern exposure version is different 2 this
Perfection is when you would not change a thing as it can't get better.... So a word well used brother.. I remember listening to this and getting overwhelmed by it's beauty.
Been listening to various forms of dance/electronic music(DJ) for 10 years and I've only now began to appreciate all of the classics that I missed out (pre-99) and I must say it's been a learning experience. I've always known that Spooky worked in collaberation with Sasha but I never realized how much of the brains he was behind the scenes. Charlie May is an artist that I hope gets all the recognition he justly deserves. This track is a testament of his genius.
Quality. The 1993 Guerilla 12-inch release had three excellent mixes on it, and they all stand up today. This mix reminds me of relaxing back at someone's house with a cuppa after a good night out B-)
This is the best mix as far as quality of the depth goes.. 100 percent no cheese, and sasha and digweed did such a good job mixing this next to doi-oing in Northern exposure vol 2
Charlie May produced (along with JXL) Airdrawndagger and Involver as well so what's your point? They want stuff marketed as Sasha. It doesn't have anything to do with Sasha hogging all of the credit, it has to do with the marketing structure and the fact that JXL and CM were acting primarily as sound engineers not song writers.
There isn't much controversy in the relationship or they wouldn't collaborate.
@mylexicon2 ....spot on m8........@leftdust....where dya think spooky got there influences from???.....sasha....he was there bangin tunes out of this nature long before spooky

@leftdust Its all about not going to the extremes. One extreme is when people say Xpander completely belongs to Sasha. Second extreme is obviously your opinion, of sasha taking all the credit. Come to think of it, why did spooky never complete xpander on their own? There had to be something that Sasha gave to that credit to make it what it is today, so frankly, I think Sasha DOES deserve atleast half of the credit for it!
It's important this stuff not get lost.

It's still awesome even today. A little simple by today's standards but the emotion was captured and still reaches people all over the world.
Notice the similarity to Sasha - Xpander? Charlie May (Spooky) produced Xpander for Sasha.

This is great stuff! The original is better though. Such a good song it inspired Sasha to create the legendary "Xpander"

No, Xpander was originally an unused piece by Spooky, but Sasha reworked it with Charlie May when they began collaborating.
