I'm using a Rock Band xbox controller (USB), xPadder, and virtual DJ
I have the green, red, yellow, blue, and orange buttons mapped to looping controls, and when I depress the strum bar, they act as cue points. When I hold up on the strum, they "set" cue points.
Left and Right on the DPad switch the crossfader to the other deck, select changes PFL, start is start.
My favorites... The Whammy Bar activates BeatGrid, and Star Power activates an FX sample (sirens)!
You need to get the 360 wireless reciever. If you connect it with that, it'll treat the guitar like a normal 360 controller, and you can use midiyoke to assign midi keys to each button.
Thats pretty sweet, I'm yet to do this with a guitar hero controller (will soon) but have with other controls.
Personally I'd control it differently, having the buttons to trigger the volume (momentary gate) and the bar to trigger all 5 tracks, so would be more like playing a guitar.
Possibly could have a different set of tracks to trigger for up and down stroke. Dunno if thats possible tho.
Whammy bar could also be put on a pitch bend or auto filter or something.
what you need: ps2 controller ps2 to usb converter (ebay) junXion 3 ableton live how to: plug in the controller into the usb converter open up junxion and look in the HID list find the HID device thats the controller by pressing buttons drag and drop a button into the left pane and assign it a midi note number open up ableton live go in preferences and turn 'Remote' in the midi tab on for the junxion midi device assign notes to samples and go nuts
im using junXion III, its an app that converts any human interface device information into midi events, although I am intending to use max/msp or pure data to do this in the future. then the midi gets sent to ableton.
very impressed with your video by the way, your a really good inspiration and ive been reading dj tech tools for quite a while!im really into diy interfaces and youve been a really good source of ideas!
