Crappie are one of the most desirable freshwater for table fare you culd hope for. Cut out the red line on any fish fresh or salt. I really don't know what the haters are talking about. Perhaps you did eat fish from a mud hole. But you can't tell me a lake with a 100 feet of visibility is going to yield muddy fish.
@MegaNINJAKING no i ate them both from a guy that eats them all the time and i tried to cook them but either way they still taste like the water they come from.......try eating pompano or mahi mahi and youll see what im saying lol
@YourFriendlyMe Well shit, sounds like you're cooking them like salt water fish which are pretty much pre-salted. I suggest you get some beer batter, leave the fillets in buttercream milk overnight, and fry them puppies up, you cannot eat these kind of fish like a fillet you must fry them. If you like tartar sauce I suggest you use it.
@MegaNINJAKING look the guy that cooked them for me for the first time was a chief at a restaurant he had a culinary degree and i still almost vomited in my mouth from the horrible dirt taste it has ....but some people like that taste and i dont judge them for that
@YourFriendlyMe Culinary degree or not, seems like he didnt cook them right, because I myself enjoy the salt water fish, and crappie do no taste like dirt u must have been eating carp, or maby ur chef friend dont know how to cook them bad boys.
Couple of questions. What did you catch it on? Did you actually measure it or just guess 20"? Did you release or keep it? Does it bother you that you may have caught the state record but don't get credit for it? I caught what was likely the NJ state record Yellow Perch, but didn't get credit for it because I released it. That was 3 years ago, and it bothers me to this day.
