Hey I've pretty much just started my rc hobby, I bought a hsp warhead and it was really good I learnt allot from it im planing to move on and buy my next car and I want it to be a trophy truck like this on in the vid but I dont know which one I should buy any suggestions?
How do you think this would fair to trugs? My home track has an open rally class, trugs and rallies, no engine size limit. I want an SC8 but if it's no competition, then why waste the money.
metal is {can be} stronger...but plastic is more durable :) Everything has a point of yield, the question is just happens when you cross it. Plastic deforms, stretches then tears more than breaks usually. Metal snaps like twig! Especially aluminum, Steel is better in this respect but too heavy to have any real benefit. Ti is the real answer, but plastic is actually affordable.
So there you go, the science behind your rightness, in case anyone gives you shit :)
@ryansiki Right, thats why real sc trucks use 4130 plastic to keep them safe, youve nailed it on the head. and ducky really carbon is a much better solution then ti, ti is really expensive.
I don't know if it's the stock shitty tires or what, but the thing has zero traction. It's like driving on ice on all surfaces. It looks cool drifting around, but the novelty wears out in a hurry. If you are looking to get into racing get a buggy or truggy... This is a toy car!
It's a SCALE CORR truck...It's not going to hook up like a Buggy or Truggy...The purpose of this truck is to mimic the REAL CORR trucks, and that's just what the sliding and drifting is all about--The Real trucks slide and drift around the track....
but if you want more grip, Buggy tires do fit it--it IS an extended RC8 Buggy under that body...
Hope it comes with tough axle carriers. The wheels on my slayer let the rims dig into the dirt. Broke the axle carriers so quick, but everything else is pretty tough.
The Slash was meant to be a cheap entry level hobby truck. It has a terrible stock motor, and the only redeeming feature it has is the water sealed electronics. They want above and beyond with the Slayer, but they went sub par with the Slash. The SC8 is a better all round performer.
I agree for the most part, although the titan motor can be quite reliable if it is maintenanced regularly. It is kind of hard to compare a 2wd electric 1:10 scale to a 4wd 1:8 scale nitro. At any rate, the SC8 is outrageously overpriced, so I can't see those becoming a popular racing class.
sweet, maybe now other rc makers will start making these, now that traxxas and AE have these nitro trucks like this, then maybe they will start having a race class just for these trucks, I would love to race my slayer, and also, When does this sc8 come out? I have never herd of it till now...
yea i know about every rc maker there is i been in the sport for several years, but I was just saying that like ofna, mugen, kyosho, etc... should start making these kinda of core trucks too, then we could have a whole race class just for these type of trucks, thats what i was sayin lol I have the trx slayer, and I would rather a AE product, thats why i wanted to know when it comes out, i wasnt sayin i never herd of AE lol i was sayin i never herd of the sc8 lol
that starter was totally trick lookin.

such a great truck when they first came out, they sure faded out fast. The best 1/8 scale sc nitro out there, you get what you pay for.
TeaBagger5000 1 year ago
For what this thing costs I would expect at least aluminum rims.

Plastic is better than metal. Metal is way too brittle. Cracks like nothing.

Cool, looks like associated couaght on to traxxas's succes with the slash and slayer, hopefully other companys will follow.
VXLBeast 3 years ago 2
Even though Traxxas's shitty models have no roll cage.
emoklan 3 years ago
Oh yah, your right. No real cage. Well now the slash is worthless. WHat were they thinking?
lol

I'm switching to the Venlineon system, I will keep the stock motor to run in the Stock class at my hobby shop, but brushless would be awesome.
howtowakeakar 3 years ago
Sounds good. The VXL hauls, I love mine.
VXLBeast 3 years ago
Or you could get a Team Associated MGT 4.6, throw in an LRP Z.28R, a steel roll cage, aluminum shock towers, RPM a-arms, all for under $700.
howtowakeakar 3 years ago
and you'd still have a truck heavier, slower, with worse handling, and doesn't look as good as the SC8.

Anyway, it's one of the best racing companies in the world. (You can learn more at rc10's website.)
