You have to die before the Code will activate, as you saw with Charles.

After all, C.C. was talking to Lelouch, who was steering the cart, at the end.

This series was beautifully done. The story line is just "astonishing". I've been very lucky and have only come across the good ones.

Code Geass, Cowboy Bebop, Death Note, Gunslinger Girl, Elfen Lied, Ghost in the Shell, The Meloncholy of Haruhi Sazumia, etc... guess it's just luck of the draw...

There is hundred's of Anime's out there with astonishing story lines, you just have to look around for a while to find the ones you like. I recommend Death Note or Shakugan No Shana, both in my opinion are very amazing and well done Anime series.
