Doug, I think the root of a great song is the lyric, and this one most assuredly is. Then, when you add a beautiful melody and rhythm and it's performed by a wonderful vocalist with the addition of fine instrumentation... a true work of art.

I think the remix of this one is not necessarily better than the original, but it's for sure fine and equally great. I love it.
