Sweet Jesus...my grandmother and her sisters used to sing this song when I was young. In fact, the words of this hymn were placed in the program for my aunt's homegoing celebration in 2006. This song brings me to tears and brings back such sweet memories of my loved ones who have joined the heavenly choir...God shall wipe all His children's tears away...Thank you Lord!
In my childhood, my mother's choir, the Chancel Choir, would sing this hymn and after all the stanzas would speed it up and get to hand clapping. I miss those good old days of the 70s and 80s. It is something when a black choir or church can take a eurocentric hymn and give it some gospel life. There's nothing like the black church in America. It's a dying brand, we've got to remember this songs before they are buried forever in unwritten history.
You took the words right of my mouth. lol. That's the reason I had to add them on here. Because I know there are so many gospel music lovers who love the barrett sisters and when I say anointed, I do mean anointed. And all 3 of them were born sopranos. lol.
JUST WHEN I THOUGHT I HEARD IT ALL!!!!!.....WOW!!! BEAUTIFUL!!! THANX FOR THE POST!!!

These are some harmonizing sisters no gospel collection would be complete without them.
