Some of you guys need to travel more. I live in NY and I can tell you Tokyo is much bigger, more crowded, faster paced etc. NY is better because of its diversity, culture and energy, but don't fool yourselves into think thinking no other city can touch it because you Tokyo will put NY to shame in density and sheer urbanity. London has more international and historical relevance than NY, but it's not quite as fast paced or exciting as NY. Paris is more beautiful than all of them.

I live a day's drive from NY. The last time I drove into New York, my car was ROBBED. Even the tires were GONE and it was up on cement blocks. And I only parked to go to lunch in a cafe! Trash everywhere, urine smell everywhere... it's awful.

Obviously you had a bad experience Been there 4 times and each time was unbelievable! Sorry you feel that way ... Stay in Manhattan.. I know sometimes it's easy to get lost in the 5 boroughs! As cities go NYC is incomparable!!!

I love L.A. but it's not a real city you know, it's just a whole lot of suburbia. New York has tons of skyscrapers, a million more than L.A. too.

NYC is not exaggerated at all. It's the capital of music, fasion, real estate, and as far as i know, also still financial. There's not one city in the world that can compete with it in ANYTHING besides london and finance. Calling london the capital of anything besides england is laughable.
