I have a 27' sailboat, my wife did the same thing, only she took a step off the bow and when one foot hit the dock, she pushed the boat away and somehow , ended up grabbing the lifelines at the bow...she did the same thing..she hung there patiently, didn't say a word. We got her up on the dock. happily, her clothes did clean the bottompaint of my boat of any algea or growth! way to go!

Try a short breast line attached just aft of the beamiest part of the boat. Come in slowly have someone throw a turn on the cleat and pay out the line with some tension on it until the boat stops then secure the line. If this is done at idle speed while still in gear the boat will remain perfectly parallel to the dock and you can step off the boat like a gentleman and secure the bow and stern lines. I singlehand sail/dock all the time and it's never failed for me...
