I removed my comment because you are young and telling you about the SGI and all the foibles and trials and tribulations would be pointless. I would only caution you at this young age to make sure and study the Lotus Sutra. Make sure and read the authenticated writings of Nichiren, and get quiet and listen to your heart. If someone tells you to do something for anyone including "sensei" that does not feel right then don't do it. I wish you well on your journey.

I notice that many SGI clips here on YouTube are moderaded "Pending approval" That is so cultish and UNdemoctratic! Is this the "democracy" the SGI seeks? To SILENCE dessent? Only positive praise is allowed? No room for criticism? That is NOT democracy, but signs of an AUTOCRACY! If SGI is an autocratic organisation censoring criticism, then I want nothing to do with SGI! (There are 37+ other Nichiren related Schools (sects) out there, SGI has NO monopoly! (..And open equaly to ALL age groups)!
Its all fine and dandy IF one is under 40! (YMD) If you are 40 or older, one cannot participate in mainstream Gakkai activities! (Its called the Men's Division). there one has LIMITED activities, in the shadows. The Daishonin NEVER intended his Buddhism to be so ageist! And why does the Fuji School (SGI-NST-Shoshinkai) omit he "u" in "Namu"? Its on the Gohonzon, after all, is it not? (南無... ) Namu Myoho Renge Kyo!
@electricrailwaygod Because "Nam" is originally a Sanskrit word. However, the mu is used because the only singular "m" sound in Japanese （ん） would be an "n" sound if used at the end of a word. Therefore the phonetic reading of the On reading of that particular kanji would be namu, or なむ, when read in Japanese. But it wouldn't be in it's original language.
Nam is Sanskrit, where myoho renge kyo is the Japanese On reading of the Chinese kanji.
Biggest cult in the world. Why get high and go to rock the era and do gajokai, when you can work hard at school and work and go to church and be right.
