hydrogen+oxygen= real force with actual brisance. The gas boil off you're talking about would only be what creates the FAE explosive. You can get a LOT of force out of steam and such, but its the detonation of the FAE that gave you that hole in your equipment.
Try putting a medium peice of sodium in a blender. This will be much more satisfying.
