I am disappointed to see this backyard idiot's video appear with the likes of Shawn Flarida or Craig Johnson. Give me a break! He can't hold a candle to those two.
@LopePro do you even know who he is? hes the world's best fucking horse trainer. He reins but me mostly focuses on training. Hes WAY better than you'll ever be. And don't go and say that he sucks because he doesn't. He isn't an 'idiot' either.
@LopePro AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! "Backyard idiot." YOU are the idiot! Shawn Flarida's horse he competes and wins on "Whiskey N Diamonds" aka "Foster" was trained and purchased from Clinton Anderson. Wow. You really know nothing of the reining industry.
Clinton knows what you 'should' and 'shouldnt' do on a reiner. In these demos he just kind of goes kamikase (sp??) cause it wows the crowd. And yes he DOES rush his horses at home.
wth was that that started at :12. seriously. lol. omg. you are supposed to stop and let the horse settle a little before you spin. i cant believe he did that. wow. hahaha
Clinton knows what he is doing hes probably been reining longer than you have been alive!!! His horses are the best horses i have seen and his training methods are nothing to laugh at. Clinton is one on the best reiners and trainers i know.
well, after all it could be a matter of opinion. do YOU know anything about reining? if you do i hope you would at least know that you shouldnt rush a horse a round like that. ever. and it is kind of funny seeing him try to impress people but rushing his horse that way. i honestly dont care what kind of trainer he is, but im sure not dazzled. ;)
I think he trains more of a 'You should be able to do any kind of movement with a horse at any speed at any time.' His way of doing it shows that the horse waits for his command and dosen't rush to do something itself. I'm sure he dosen't 'rush' all the time like some people do, but he trains it to the point that the horse knows not to anticipate things.
^Good point Flairox. Also, some people (including me) use this method to help horses gain momentum into their turnarounds. I wouldn't recommend it for horses who aren't familiar with a spin, but for horses who are having problems putting an extra "oomph" in it, it works rather well. generally, however, I do it form an extended jog.
getting a horse to do a good turn around isnt about catching them off guard. its giving them a reason to want to do it, make them work hard, super hard, and when they get it right let them know it. its not always about speed, its about being correct. my trainer makes his horses wait so they dont anticipate or get over-confident.
I think you are the first person who critizize Clinton, like me...
that is because people don't use their brain, they see anything and only because all people knows that he is a famous person they don't look with a critical eye!!!
thank you jackrussel for looking at this objectively unlike most people who have commented on this video. i am not afraid to 'voice' my opinion in the face of a "best trainer". in response to flairox's statement in the quotes, i care more about a reponsive horse than a rushed and anxious one. the horse wasnt waiting for a command he was caught off guard. chances are if he rushes his horses at a place like this he does it quite often and any good rider/trainer never rushes their horse. ;)
hey. I look objectively.I don't like the method just because he is famous and whatnot, because famous people generally turn out to be jackasses. from what I see, he isn't doing anything wrong. The horse obviously wasn't caught off guard because he went into the turn just fine and didn't throw his head or show any real signs of distress.
Also, note that he was riding freestyle and this is more than likely just another part of the pattern he had planned out, therefore the horse has probably done it plenty of times and is comfortable with the movement.
Moreover, what is the point of "looking with a critical eye"? Being contradictory is no better than being conformist, and digging for flaws and things to criticize in someone is just as counterproductive as ignoring the problems. He is obviously doing something right because his horses undeniably look good.
lol. a person is a person and should be judged on character before popularity. wasnt caught off guard? didnt throw his head? what video are you watching? that horse was obviously rushed and i dont think a part of any reining pattern includes rushing your horse.
in normal reining classes there is a slight pause between each maneuver so the horse settles a little and gets ready for the next thing. i didnt have to dig to find things wrong with the riding, it was sitting right there in front of me in a video. whats the point of getting better if you dont want to be criticized every now and then?
that IS part of getting better. being a conformist has nothing to do with objectively looking at a ride. honestly i could care less wether or not you like the way he rides i was just saying the horse is rushed and nervous and thats all. cant you just live with it?
I love reining, he has a good reining horse, but he probally has the money to buy whatever kind of horse he wants! (I'm saying that in a nice way! haha)
Went to his Downunder Horsemanship tour-clinic this weekend (yesterday and today), and he did a little thing with Diaz. I met Diaz, he is such a sweetie! They did a complicated thing, where Diaz was sidepassing in front of Clinton while he (Clinton) was walking forwards. It was very pretty!!! I love Clinton, and I am working on some of his methods with my Appy gelding.
WOW! I was there! lol Sitting in that section too! Whoever posted this was sitting either right in front or right behind me! That is too cool! Clinton rocks!
Awesome
