I never understood why so many are fascinated with Manga and Anime...appears to me it gets in the way of understanding true proportions in realistic figure drawing.
@FORMETOKNOWONLY I see what you mean. I think though, that drawing manga or character's off an anime series allows people to be much more creative than when sticking to realism. (Just my opinion as I prefer manga/anime)
u must read this. once u have started there is no turning back. a little 10 year old girl was raped and murderded in 1945. her body was not found until 1947. then a boy last week read this and did not copy and paste this message. the dead girl appeared in his room haunting him and killed him. if you do not copy and paste this onto 10 vidoes in 30 minutes the dead girl will apear in your room tonight and haunt you and kill you. well you better start to copy and pasteing

finally someone who realizes art is an attainable talent :D. I get annoyed when people convince themselves that only "natural born artists" can draw. especially since there is no such thing.
@Azza1070 I see what u mean... It is my belief that there is born talent and attainable talent. both contribute to how well u can do something and drawing is completely attainable talent. I'm also a self-taught artist and know that for sure.
if you cant draw wat so ever this would help but seriously U SUCK SERIOUSLY SUCK, not to be rude but u do, im not a AWESOME artist but shit im better than u and this sucks to u beginners
and one other thing before you make a vid about how to draw you actually have to know how to draw yourself, in other words learn how to draw yourself before making a tutorial :X
if you draw eyes like that they'll be out of propotionXD you're supposed to draw a line through the middle of the cirkel, then one bellow that with a little space about 1 line in your drawing, and the a space of about two line (use one more if it's a female), and that's where the eyes are supposed to be.
o yea... manga and anime persons normally always have a normal size chin unless it are very young characters, chibi or manga and anime drawn for reallt reaaallly young childrenXD
attention new drawers: To use this tutorial videos to their full potential, do not copy the style of the artist 100% instead look to it for ideas and inspiration, experiment, and find your own special style.
there. now will you stupid uptight assholes stfu and let us learn?
Is this video some kind of joke? This person does not have the slightest trace of artistic ability in drawing. Absolutely worthless. This is a joke, right?
Dunno if your opinion's changed since this vid, but you're an absolute novice. Nothing wrong with liking ur own art, but it's not as good as you think. You can barely draw in 3 dimensions & is still at the stage where you visualize objects as flat symbol-like marks. You have no foundation from studying from life. Even for cartoonists, u can't stylize what u don't know. This tutorial isn't useful to anyone wanting to pursue art seriously.
You're right, drawing's an acquired skill, keep drawing.
Haha yes man! :DD drawing is a skill and if you practice you will get better! so nice man I love your blunt way of telling me this, I am just starting and now that you told me it took 2 years to get that long so I am motivated! :DD thanks man !

@theantiantichrist ive tried teaching someone to draw and they cant no matter how hard you try. some people are born and bread into this. i was. and ive shown progression through the years but in all, it is a talent that god gives you, and the progression you gain is because the general gift was given to you. :D and if your an artist, then you understand this. i <3 you. :)
Anyone can learn to draw. The truth is you probably can't teach... probably because you don't understand the subject yourself. It's just a little arrogant to say it can't be learned because you couldn't teach it.
It's a proven fact that anyone with ordinary eyesight and co-ordination can learn to draw, provided they get competent instruction. You don't need to be born and bred, or "born and bread" as you put it.
@AnotherMadder i beleive that its a gift. everyone is entitled to your opinion. im excited that you can teach it so well. most people ive been in school with cant draw no matter how many times teachers show them. thats why i beleive its a gift. some people are just meant to be artists, others are sports, music, dancers, ect. but me, i do art. and i bet your a really good artist too. :)
Some prople are born with the ability to draw what they see without much effort. That's true. But the fact is everyone else can learn to do it. The only people who won't learn are those who have physical impairments in their eyesight or have brain damage that alters the way they process visual information. As for school teachers, most secondary level teachers have never learned themselves.
@AnotherMadder hahah thats what i say. i learn more from youtube videos than what my douche bag art teacher taught me. but i can understand resonably your opinion. i just think if you were born knowing how to do it (like us) then youll most likley be better than someone whom is taught the skill. :D its very difficult. some people have to grid things and all that jazz, but i free hand. do you free hand your art? (non-rude question)
Of course I use guidelines. The greatest artists in history used guidelines, grids, mechanical viewing devices. Professionals today use them, whatever helps them to express themselves. I didn't take it as a rude question...I'm not being critical. I like to discuss. And frankly I get pi**ed off when people are told they can't learn to draw. It's not your fault you inherited a superstition about art from the system.
@AnotherMadder nah i think people can learn to draw. we didnt come out as babies with a paintbrush/pencil in hand. lol i just draw 2 lines and thats all. most things i can free hand. but portraits of people, i like to draw a cross in the middle of the face. i always thought divinci's studies were so interesting and intricate... so detailed. especially because they didnt have all the media we have to day.
Da Vinci, oh yeah! His gift went beyond accuracy. His drawings looked alive. You expect them to speak, that's where drawing stops and art begins. Speaking of grids, google "vitruvian man". It's da Vinci's map of human proportions.
@AnotherMadder you know, in the photo of the actual drawing itself, it seems as if he wrote backwards... strange. i like it. but of course knowing divinci, he always had hidden meanings in his art.
Yes! Da Vinci wrote in mirror style - everything reversed horizontally - it was most natural for him. Imagine anyone telling him his vision was wrong? Not likely.
@AnotherMadder :) i think mirror is intense... theres no tellling what all is hidden in his art. i wish people in the museums wouldnt try to examine it so thuroughly. im always afraid their going to ruin it accidently. i think we should leave the mystery there.
I've really enjoyed this conversation :-) I have to scoot, but I'll leave a remark about art. Every real work of art isn't just a painting or drawing of someone or something. It's also a portrait of the artist. The artist's feelings and perceptions are there, and if you look long enough you will begin to feel like you're not alone, like you see what he saw, feel what he felt. I love a good mystery!
I taught myself to draw. I couldn't draw for beans when I started. It took a long time, a lot of agony and a lot of work. I've studied plenty of books. The best is "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain." Drawing is all about seeing clearly.
Here's the irony about this stuff: Those who could draw easily from the start are the worst choice for teachers because they don't really understand how they do it.
@AnotherMadder i draw good from the start, but i also came from drawing stick spiders with smiley faces. lol it takes time and effort hahha when i talk to people and ask them what trouble they have with art, thats when i help myself to progress. i begin to understand new ways to do things. :) thats just about the only ways ive learned to do it. and youtube videos of course. :)
God bless stick figures :-) I'm a portrait artist. I've drawn thousands of them to get a feel for proportions and how humans move. The greatest animations started out as stick figures. Storyboards in movie studios use stick figures.
@AnotherMadder heck yayuh! lol i dig those little spiders i drew.. mostly because i was a creepy little one who was obsessed with everything tim burton. hahha
Humasn heads - draw a circle, see it as a ball. The browline is on the horizontal centreline. Put a cross there. Draw a jaw line underneath and a vertical line down to the chin to represent the plane of the face. You must see this setup as 3D and learn to rotate any way you want. The cross indicates the position. :-)
in my honest opinion i think drawing comes from practicing it does not come from just from a talent like that jack ass supersonia33 said if u saw my drawings from back then to now you would shit your self im not trying to brag i am just saying i got rlly good from practicing thats what your supposed to do your not gonna be good right when u first draw because u think its your gift u gotta practice alot and if u dont like the way u draw try diffrent ways make comics practice makes perfect u guys
ok i can't believe how LONG you talk before showing your drawings. AND drawing isn't anything like science or math. it's a completely different side of the brain. you know, the artsy and emotional side verses the technical and straight forward side. if you feel like you can draw, (and i think you're stuff is good) then you aren't using your math and science side of your brain. i did learn a few things from your video though...and for that, i am grateful!
@Electryzza How can this video have more than 400k views? Because people are ignorant and stupid as hell, that's how. If you like to draw, forget this useless garbage, and just do it on your own because you enjoy it. It's the best way to learn, and you'll do better on your own because you can progress in your own way and develop your own style. Look to yourself, and you'll develop better because of it. All the best.
i know that and i've never used any tutorial for drawing, i just checkt this video cuz i thought he maybe would have drawn some awesome shit since it has so many views.
I agree with your point, the best way to learn that is by doing it yourself. Otherwise you'll copy the style of the tutorial video instead of have an own one.
SuperSonia33 Before 3 years i wanted to make music and everybody told me that i have no talent, but I continued to practice. Now i'm pretty good and composing my own stuff. I wanted to draw, again everybody told me i don't have talent, but I can't listen to them. Now i'm on a good level for several mounts practice and continuing. Art (not only drawing) is not about skill, talent or etc. It's about the idea! Talent is just the born ability to do something, it doesn't mean that you can'y learnit
Just wanted to say thanks SO much for this vid, I went to a 5 hour beginners art class last weekend and I learned more in your video than that whole day. This has really given the confidence to carry on. My Grandad was an amazing pencil artist and I always felt disappointed that I couldn't recreate what he did but now I realise it's about knowing simple technique, building up and practising. Thank you!!
dam rite i dont think you can learn how to draw.. I draw portraits and more realistic drawings but im also good with cartoons but leave art to the artist
Hey, thanks for the tutorial it really helped, im taking art as a GCSE next year so im trying to practice a bit of everything. Dont worry what those complete retards say, they obviously haven't seen a cartoon before have they? Oh and SuperSonia33 if you think your this master at drawing then why dont you post some videos on here for us all to see. Thanks again. :)
ok... yeah, everything you used was correct, BUT!!!!
it still sucks balls, seriously, it does. even if you where doing so through a camara, which i believe was a stupid thing to do, i think that blaming it for the simplistic, and childish drawing you did is not fair.
Certainly drawing good is a skill, a skill which can only get good or better through practice, but drawing amazing or breathtaking is only something someone with not only practice of the skill, but also natural talent can do.
thanks for the awesome face drawing and the ppl who think you cant draw need to get some glasses or a life cause your so much better than any video ive seen so far thanks again bye
Sorry but this is a terrible example of a human face, realistic or otherwise. The proportions are skewed and there's no sense of space/depth, character or line development. If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times: trying to draw ANYTHING, be it a box, lamp, car, or the human face without bothering to learn perspective/proportioning is about as effective as trying to play jazz without bothering to learn chords and scales. The basis of ALL visual art is spatial relationships.
What the f where you drawing? a realisitc face or a cartoon?? I only hear 15 minutes of talking from a guy which i believe is on drugs or something, i expected something more from this, but keep trying
I am an artist myself...and i believe artists are born...you need to get the balance right and try something else...you may start by knitting' LOL!!! Cheers'
i have a problem i start drawing when i was nine now i am 16 drawin very well but my main problem istha if i try to make sth i dont like it in the end ..I can excellent copy thing from a paper to another i'd ike find a site which i can learn the basics so if anyone know plz send me (srr for bad english)
i don't know what u guys r talking about. i started to draw when i was about 8, and now i'm 14 and i used to suck at it but i kept to it and now i can do a pretty realistic face. Youtube is a really good source for learning
sorry buddy but im an anime arties and i was born with this gift of drawing. ur anime is not good and i hate when people say " o sorry my cammra makes my drawings look bad and BLAA BLAA BLAA" dude u cant draw. U NEED MORE YEARS OF WORK. Its like singing not everyone is cut out for it. PLEASE DO US REAL ANIME ARTIES A GOOD SERVICE AND STOP DOING VIDEOS ON HOW U THINK ITS SO EASY AND LEAVE THE VIDEO STUFF TO US GIVE IT UP.

AnotherMadder 1 year ago

ok i can't believe how LONG you talk before showing your drawings. AND drawing isn't anything like science or math. it's a completely different side of the brain. you know, the artsy and emotional side verses the technical and straight forward side. if you feel like you can draw, (and i think you're stuff is good) then you aren't using your math and science side of your brain. i did learn a few things from your video though...and for that, i am grateful!

how can this vid have more than 400k views????
i can draw way better than you...just check my video lol
Electryzza 1 year ago
@Electryzza How can this video have more than 400k views? Because people are ignorant and stupid as hell, that's how. If you like to draw, forget this useless garbage, and just do it on your own because you enjoy it. It's the best way to learn, and you'll do better on your own because you can progress in your own way and develop your own style. Look to yourself, and you'll develop better because of it. All the best.
DoctorLawyerWhatever 11 months ago
@DoctorLawyerWhatever
i know that and i've never used any tutorial for drawing, i just checkt this video cuz i thought he maybe would have drawn some awesome shit since it has so many views.

Thank you!!
ritcha02 1 year ago
dam rite i dont think you can learn how to draw.. I draw portraits and more realistic drawings but im also good with cartoons but leave art to the artist
loomin4life 1 year ago
Hey, thanks for the tutorial it really helped, im taking art as a GCSE next year so im trying to practice a bit of everything. Dont worry what those complete retards say, they obviously haven't seen a cartoon before have they? Oh and SuperSonia33 if you think your this master at drawing then why dont you post some videos on here for us all to see. Thanks again. :)
lilystump 1 year ago
uhhh....... i think you might need to do it 10 or 20 thousand times more
but good effort, and the teaching was basically right
and i don't think the realistic style is right for you.... sorry :(
Chapjap37 1 year ago
ok... yeah, everything you used was correct, BUT!!!!
it still sucks balls, seriously, it does. even if you where doing so through a camara, which i believe was a stupid thing to do, i think that blaming it for the simplistic, and childish drawing you did is not fair.
Certainly drawing good is a skill, a skill which can only get good or better through practice, but drawing amazing or breathtaking is only something someone with not only practice of the skill, but also natural talent can do.

55anti55 1 year ago
Sorry but this is a terrible example of a human face, realistic or otherwise. The proportions are skewed and there's no sense of space/depth, character or line development. If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times: trying to draw ANYTHING, be it a box, lamp, car, or the human face without bothering to learn perspective/proportioning is about as effective as trying to play jazz without bothering to learn chords and scales. The basis of ALL visual art is spatial relationships.

you suck balls mega balls this is the worst shit ive ever seen in my life
your teaching everyone the wrong shit you dont need a guide line
and you dont need an extra eye in the center you fukin idiot
for some one who did this 10 to 20 thousand times you surley do suck big balls
lildude2012 1 year ago
@lildude2012 That's your technique. I can actually draw and I find that an eyeline helps. I don't do an eye in the middle, but it helps, too.

i don't know what u guys r talking about. i started to draw when i was about 8, and now i'm 14 and i used to suck at it but i kept to it and now i can do a pretty realistic face. Youtube is a really good source for learning
