Ok, after Ive seen this whole match, wich was great btw! But I cant hold myself, I must add that having the 2x Lion chariots, was aboout 240pts to almost a 100% waste since they just swirreld around in the movement and never really got to charge.

Also, Swordmasters are great I cant argue with that, but I would rather have 1 unit of them, and bigger (about 20-21) along with shield of saphery.

Sure, no forest sure hurts an HE player in enemy shooting phase due low T and nothing to hide behind.

Another GREAT Battle Report! These are the best on the internet. Contrary to some comments, you guys are very good with the rules, especially getting the rules right without slowing the game down badly and looking everything up.

Just a few thoughts w/ the battle:

1) Drain Magic is absolutely needed... HE magic should be focused on casting it

2) Always persue

3) Assassins are crazy good (HE have no counter in this edition)

4) Consider using phoenix guard against Black Guard??? (I 6)

Well, new army book ;), old faction... It's a pretty nice army book too 0 I've had a glance through. Not really liking some of the new models - a little bulky for my tastes... Powerful combinations available - but nothing Daemon level... captures the character of the army well IMHO.

HE were just hindered by army selction, bottom line. Nice batrep, but very inevitable result :).

@JohnChAsur I think they said at the beginning that they just chose models that they thought would be "mirror-images" of each other - I'm not sure that they each developed their own army list.

I know, but in the mirror match, the Dark Elves had the advantage, with a better flying character, fast cavalry, assassin.... Black Guard with Banner of Hag Graef.

I definitely agree. - although pursuing that broken unit would have taken care of the assassin. Not offering his mage on dragon up on a silver platter to the manticore might have spared that loss and prevented the DE magic from snowballing. Focusing the bolt throwers on suppressing enemy fire might have limited the damange to the swordmasters, Spreading those chariots out to cover both flanks might have helped against the fast cav, etc....

Also remember that Josh was limited in what he could bring because of the Mirror game that we agreed to play. We are considering a game of no-holds-barred. I don't think High Elves are a weak list by any means. They just need to be able to use their strengths better.

HE just are entry-for-entry inferior to DE. Black Guard with the ASF banner are better than everything in the HE book and cheaper to boot. HE have no good answer to Assassins and Shawn wasn't even using the Hydra OR the Invincible Dreadlord or any of the other dirty tricks DE have that HE can't do anything about.

I think Gav Thorpe made the DE book with the intention of never wanting to lose to High Elves ever again. He succeeded.

Very nice report like always! Btw regarding the Tzeentch lore, flickering fire of tzeentch is a flaming attack and it clearly says so in the Warriors of Chaos army book :)
