DUDES there is an easier fix for the red ring......my xbox i took it out brand new and stood it up. it got the red ring...almost a full ring. i put it on its side and it never did it again

so when the soder come loose the system glitches and thats when the trouble starts. so heres why this strategy works. the soder comes off and when put back on the motherboard it will work again ( hence i said flip it over ) so after you flip it over, and heat up the xbox , the glue will melt on the motherboard and will not ruin the mother board though. then by cooling it off, the glue becomes hard and sticks back on the motherboard. have fun. WARNING: NOT A PERMANENT FIX.

i have an easier way to do it. first flip over the xbox then turn on the 3 red ring of death xbox and leave it on. then wait a while for it to overheat. when it does overheat, turn it off and wait a while for it to cool off. this sometimes takes up too 2 hours but the results are worth it and its free, no hard labor and a reason why: the red ring( x3) is mostly caused when a soder comes loose and falls off. continue reading next.

HEY! I tried that and it worked once! Now I Always take a hairdryer!!! you have to "blow" with the hairdryer in every opening of the xbox for 30 seconds. Do this 3 times and it will work!

My step dad just gave me his 5 year old first gen xbox, that has been in his basement for over 4 years, because he got the red ring of death.

I took it home, tried it, and yes, the red ring of death... I wrapped it in towels, and waited 25 minutes, and it really worked!!!

It is a 1st generation which sucks, but I am very happy anyway! Thank you so much for this video!!!

This does work but it is a stupid fix. It temporarly fixes the 3rl but damages other components in the unit This fix will last for 1 to 4 weeks max and if repeated you will damage your unit beyond repair.

Giving this a shot now. My xbox red ringed today and I felt really sad. I was so close to getting to the final riddler dungeon in arkham city. I'll update here if it works.

Just a note to every one that the Towel Trick is only a temporary solution. It only works a limited number of times before it wont work anymore. When I got the RROD I was able to do the trick 5 times before I was no longer able to cheat my 360s death.Eventually you will have to either take it to a store and let them fix it for you, or I recommend getting a new 360, because Microsoft charges you the same amount to fix the 360 as brand new one costs anyway.

Actually either way cant really help you other then to say make sure that everything is plugged in correctly. If it already is, then unplug everything, and then plug everything back in. If that didnt help then I hope that your warranty is still good because youll have to take it back to wherever you bought it.

@erockliam No you didnt do anything wrong. Unfortunately there are pretty many reasons why people get the RROD, and pretty many ways to fix it, the towel trick is just a temporary solution to the RROD being caused by overheating (I think). If the towel trick didnt work, Im afraid youll have to take it to the store, or Id just recommend getting a new 360and then something to move your saved files into your new one, because honestly theyll just charge you the same amount as a new one anyway.

@penpluin Turn the 360 ON before wrapping it in the twoles, and carfully wrap the 360 in at least 3 towels making sure that every corner of it is covered. Then leave it on for at the very least 20 minutes, then remove the towels turn the 360 OFF, and then On again. Should work, but note that this is only a temporary solution, you can only do the towel trick a limited number of times before it wont work anymore.
