Remote desktop is more friendly in Windows...my experience with VNC...is that its a bit destructive to the current user logged in, or it wont work if my computer is locked....if there is a VNC expert in here that can help answer that....then thats great

If you want to help someone that has Windows 7, "Windows Remote Assistance" is built in and without a doubt the easiest way to help someone. Goes through firewalls etc. with ease.

If it's not Windows 7, there's always TeamViewer. If you want to connect to your own machine VNC (or even RDP, as long as it's properly set up) is great.

I like Crossloop for helping someone while they are at their computer... (Mom/Dad PC issues for example). At work, the IT guys use LogMeIn from the head office a lot. I've tried it and it works well, but I wasn't comfortable registering computers to access. I know a few of you old school TechTV peeps recommend GoToAssist, but I don't know if that's legit or if it is just because they are advertisers for their programs.

i have used remote desktop once and it worked well. It was built into windows, and at the time i needed to connect to another windows machine, so it was win.

Lately, however, i would use the standard VNC that is built into Ubuntu (and other linux-es) (is that the correct way to say plural linux? lol)

I have to say though, that remote desktop is a bit more user friendly. And probably more so with teamviewer.
