The dog did not die of starvation. It was a stray taken off the street and was only put on exhibition for three hours. Above the dog words were written in dog food saying "Eres Lo Que Lees" meaning: "you are what you read". It was supposed to portray dogs starving in the street, but no one cares. The dog was fed regularly and then released. After allegations about the dog starving, investigations went underway, but no evidence was ever found of the dog starving to death.

If he wanted to send a "message" why didn't he just show people the dog and say "look what this poor animal has endured?" There was no good reason to simply let it lay there, starving and dying a slow death. That was the purest form of cruelty purely to grab a few headlines about "his" message, rather than a message that is indiscriminate to all people.
The message was "hey you fucking hypocrites, see how you all react as sheep at my actions? Well, why don't you give a fuck about the millions of other animals that get killed all around the world directly or indirectly by humans? Or does it anger you that this one died SLOWLY?".

i have seen pictures, and done research on it. im not sure the exact picture you're talking about, but i know that quite a few of the Vargas videos floating around youtube have pictures that are not from this incident. they are pictures that were snatched from google of other emaciated dogs.

The dog did not die of starvation. It was a stray taken off the street and was only put on exhibition for three hours. Above the dog words were written in dog food saying "Eres Lo Que Lees" meaning: "you are what you read". It was supposed to portray dogs starving in the street, but no one cares. The dog was fed regularly and then released. After allegations about the dog starving, investigations went underway, but no evidence was ever found of the dog starving to death.

the dog is dead. After Guillermo was in trouble, he changed all the time his story. The last thing was, the dog ran away after the show and never showed up again. yeah right! i have seen pictures, and done research on it. im not sure the exact picture you're talking about, but i know that quite a few of the Vargas videos floating around youtube have pictures that are not from this incident. they are pictures that were snatched from google of other emaciated dogs.
the humane society website confirms that he fed the dog, tied it up for only three hours, and that it escaped very much alive.

the dog was fine - but it was a street dog, along with the other hundreds of thousands of stray dogs and cats in the streets of less developed countries where they die of starvation and are killed like vermin. pretty big issue for one person to solve, and he effectively highlighted the issue, doing more for animal rights than most organizations have in years. the dog was tied up for three hours during the exhibition, was fed (unlike starving on the street) and escaped after one day.

It's not true, It's a bad rumor that received too much attention, The dog was a stray that was malnourished and terminally ill when he found it, It was fed daily until it escaped and was found dead at a later date, The dog was only in the gallery for about 3 hours a day.

While sitting in your home it's easy to criticize. In reality this dog along with countless others are struggling in the streets of Costra Rica. I understand this could be seen as cruel. I am a vegan biologist and I love animals.
The artist was trying to make a point. It got radically skewed in the media. She was directing attention to issues of overpopulation of dogs. Thinking about it your worries should go past this dog to others that are starving there and maybe you would try to help them.
