i got a virus and my computer would not start so i had to insert the recovery disk and restart widows so i lost all my work.

  • does it say error loading op system?

  • A blue screen came up saying somethimg like "begining physical memory dump" and after that it wouldn't start up so i had to put the recovery disk in and reboot the entire system.

do you now if my lost work is still on it? maby is it in the registry somewhere?

  • I have a hard drive from my old desktop pc.. It came to a point where i couldn't log on anymore because it was saying that i had a damaged or corrupted file in the windows32 folder.. I couldn't fix it because my pc doesn't boot up properly due to damaged IDE connector on the motherboard.. So i got a new desktop, I wanna recover the files from the hard drive, but can't seem to because the files were in folders on the desktop and not in other locations of the hard drive.

  • Hmm, desktop IS a folder in your hard drive dude!

    :p

  • What do you mean KatorNia? desktop IS a folder in my hard drive?

  • From your knowledge on the subject, I take it that you use Windows. So, plug in the old hard drive to the new PC, (without cutting the IDE this time ;p) & boot up. Open "My Computer" & go to D:\Documents and Settings\BlaGGah\desktop (assuming that the old hard drive has gotten the letter "D" & that your current windows user is BlaGGah.) That is for XP, for Vista is D:\Documents and Settings\BlaGGah\Contacts\desktop I hope that helped a bit. __________ Opinions r like a55e5, every1 has 1...
