We should feel proud of the fact that India is the originator of much of the today's knowledge pool and innovation. But most of us, unfortunately just take pride in that fact and convince themselves that India is great. I am sorry to say this but, India WAS great. It no longer IS. But I am also happy to say that it has the most potential, amongst any of the world's present countries to BECOME the greatest and we should all work towards achieving that, instead of remaining happy with mediocrity.
@Dhruvgodara: If Gandhi wasn't the real deal, they wouldn't be teaching his philosophies at Harvard and all the BEST universities across the world.....think about it!!!!
@Dhruvgodara...Dude plz understand the plilosophy of M K Gandhi.. I hope it would appeal you in apositive way..He was a true diplomat in real sense...He knew abt the nerve of this country ...That man has travelled all though out the nation to get its pulse..We would never overcome British by force ...it was his way which gained us international sympathy and even by English nationals which made such an huge impact...apart frm that everyone has some demerits ...after all he was a human...
Indians celebrate more than what they have achieved. They spent hard earned money to glorify their queen in Commonwealth games.
India should spend more on creating lasting peace with Pakistan and other neighbors including China. British and Americans or Russians are not going to save India. You lack self esteem.
India should have spent the money they wasted on commonwealth games on an International Media net work of Aljazeera or CCCTV ( China CentralTelevision ) style.
I have seen Brazilians watching CCCTV , the whole planet watches Aljazeera they have become players just like BBC. They all put their own spin. You guys are too stingy. But waste money on ventures to glorify the quueen like commonwealth games. . I am not Indian only an Indophile. Don't get angry.
@Tejvideo, It is your ancestors who helped conquer India . Only 600 British soldiers were there at the time of total conquest. You already had divisions they only enhanced and managed those- they still do. BBC is a spin mill who spins things in subtleways. Look China has CCTV they put their own spin to stories, That Sheik of Dubai also formed Aljazeera , that way putting Arab spin.
You Indians are still letting BBC drive your thinking . Shameful.
i think the pakistan forming decision was a good one because if pakistan was part of india then how would it feel if the whole world would blame india for the forming and housing of terrorists?
@swappy56 Billions would have been saved in what were unnecessry wars. British ruthless strtergy of leaving the divisions created by them behined- ( may be division enhanced by them) . Just watch the movie Nehru ( I am not Indian , I may spell names wrong) , In that movie there you see a place where there were two taps one for Hindus other for muslims. I am not blaming british for all your problems. You are still a caste system oriented nation.
India is an awesome country with tremendous potential....It has a great heritage too...and this holy land has given birth to many pioneers as well....I only know how proud I am to be an Indian......but there is one thing in this advertisement that I do not agree with.....Gandhi was not a hero and should not be portrayed as one....Father of the Nation..HAHA....what a joke !!....Gandhi, Jinnah and some other politicians like him should not be regarded as father of the nation...
Aww why do you say that? I'll be honest with you.. not too long ago, I didn't respect Gandhi ji as much as I immensely respected Bhagat Singh & other freedom fighters, but believe me, what Gandhiji stood for back then, is going to keep the world together somewhere down the road. That's what I think. Why don't you think they should be regarded as Fathers of the Nation?
I'll respect whatever opinion you have, I'm just curious to know :)
1. He initially favored British Raj and until 1940's was in the favor of partial freedom under British rule...while there were intellectuals like Tilak, Ajit Singh, Chidambaram Pillai who had already realized that India cannot progress under this imperialistic rule in as early as 1918. Hence, he slowed India's independence.
2. Called of the biggest Independence movement in the history of India due to Chauri Chaura - blunder - loss of 25 yrs
3. Motilal Nehru and Subhash Chandra Bose both complained of Gandhi's tendency to ignore party resolutions when they went against his wishes, and to work with cliques rather than consult and cooperate with all party members. In 1939 Bose won the presidency of INC defeating Gandhi's candidate. Gandhi then formed a block with Nehru and Patel to check Bose - therefore, hardly a mahatma - shrewed politician rather.
4. Bose had always strived to accelerate the freedom struggle - Gandhi Jealous
5. Could have stopped Bhagat Singh's execution - British Empire under tremendous pressure- historians believe that he did not do so because he feared that Bhagat Singh was getting more popular.
6. Formation of Pakistan - He agreed - damm him, we are still bearing the brunt of this poor decision.
people think that he was against violence...majority of the historians just deem it as apolitical strategy...that people even grew tired of arnd 1940's...India has always chosen wrong leaders...
and oh yea...the biggest thing....people think that Britishers left because of Gandhi....this could not be far from the truth....British Empire had grown very weak after World War II and could not afford to spend any more on military operations...in colonies...therefore...quit india movement was a success ....otherwise non-violence hardly suited for gaining independence....sorry for the multiple comments but it is a big issue....needed a lot of space.
man.. after along time, I've found a person who would really catch the view point.. I totally agree with what you've said and too generic without hurtin any one.. I like your comments on gandhi that are too basic to be understood by a common man, still we follow the same path!! We are screwed and been screwed upon till date!!
@ElricTheFullMetal so that just shows the ignorane on that persons part. how does that affect indians at all. they continue to contribute to the world and passing the skills to their future generations
@dhruvgodara . I am with you 100%. Subash Chadra bose was the man i respect.
India had to be given independence because The british had to save their homeland from Hitler. They couldn't deal with an empire they let go of India in a face saving way. Your countrymen forgot that they conquered India witha force of 600 soldiers.
man this is just awesome....i am ashamed of my fukin white folks...didnt do shit back in the days...

Well, this is a broad topic but some key points:
1.
