pencil animation software: walking cycle test

ok b4 i download this can you answer this question..... do you have to draw on that or can you upload pictures from other drawing softwares?

@starandfriendsprod you can do both , if you want to use your own pictures , click on edit>import images . your pictures should be in .png format , otherwise you'll receive an error message . personaly I use paint.net(it has lot of great tools) to draw my frames,save it in png and then I use them in pencil .beware of the pictures size ,if they're too big ,they'll be out of animation area screen .

@TheInventionists at the left top corner > tool > select or enable polyline (the line in z shape ) ,then draw your line with your mouse or drawing pen , because the line is endless , you have to double click to cut or end your line otherwise you'll notice the line is stuck on the pointer

@cafrub27 actually I have never tried the sound feature so far , because you can't export (save) your work as a video under windows . this software is for mac and linux ,export feature does'nt work for windows OS , so I capture every frame with greenshot ,mount the pictures with monkey jam animation and add the sound at the time of editting

@evilcake567 The outline helps you draw the next frame. Its called the "onion skin" you can unclick on it.

@MrJebzy use the select dashed square icon ,select your character , copy and past on your next blank page , do not undo(uncheck) select tool , click on "select /move object" arrow , then drag the square ahead or in the desired page area , do not drag the square borders otherwise it will zoom your character , drag from inside the square , it's done ! do not forget to undo select icon .

@MrJebzy it's because you didn't deselect/undo the select icon , do not forget to deselect(make the square vanish) otherwise all of your previous frame will move , do not keep the square on ,do not move the same character over and over . select >copy>past on the next picture >drag the square>deselect>select the new moved image copy and past it on the next page and so on

@MrJebzy click on select>import image , unfortunately pencil can open bmp (bitmap and png ) pictures only , you can't open jpeg , I don't know if there is a trick . is your computer a Mac ? because under windows you can't save your work as a video file

@JoBoMano same thing for me first time . if you want to draw a line select polyline , then draw your line and double click with your mouse to stop the line at the desired position . if you are using a drawing pen do it with the appropriate button

@piebros0 pencil can't save video on any windows OS , so you have to download camstudio and record your animation area to avi . you play your animation but before you select the area camstudio will record . but camstudio is a little imperfect and slowdown your animation

@fareshaddadin1  you are a lucky guy if your are using this software under Mac OS ,because you can't save your animation in video format under windows XP or windows seven .I wish I had a mac . go to file >export >movie ,then choose a name to save your movie as and the location , then choose your video resolution and save to .mov a real video format that you'l be able to play with vlc or real codec on your mac

@mrsammage I'm not used with animation vocabulary , if onion skin means you see previous frame on your new blank page so that you can draw the same character exactly , it's no . I tried onion skin before and found you lost time drawing again the same character ,and you know how difficult it is to draw on computer . I just use the good old "copy and past" , and then modify the leg . I do no longer draw directly on pencil animation software ,check out my walking test 2
