  • Did you know that The Tortoise is actually Offenbach's Can-Can slowed right down?

  • You play this in the background and I don't care what your doing: taking a dump or skinning a cat, the scene is instantly magical

  • Is it right that in the elephant song the cello/ double bass is showing the bumbling nature of the beast, and the piano is showing the gentle nature?

  • 8:30 - pure magic

  • oh the beginning sounds like the flamingo piece from fantasia 2000

  • @serai7 Do you mean the ostriches?

  • was the aquarium used in beauty and the beast? it sounds like it.

  • Lol it sonds in the chicken song at the end the chickens get shot

  • I know this is a bit amateur but, Does anybody else think that number 7, the aquarium, is very similar to Disney's Beauty and the Beast prologue?

  • @Elvisus89 lol it should XD They based the score of that movie off of The Aquarium.

  • @Elvisus89 There is nothing amateur about Beauty and the Beast! It is a fine film and musical.

  • ^♥^ très très très bien!!! brilliant creation<3 thank you so much for making & sharing these fantastic montages<3 ^♡^

  • Kylie got me here

  • @SilWinder Did she talk about this piece? Good old Kylie! :)

  • He makes great fun of pianists in this piece. :)

  • dying of happiness here...

  • i looooove no. 7

    Sooooooooooooo coooooooool

  • love elephant

  • Aquarius is so magical...

  • the aquarium sounds like beauty and the beast music for a little bit :)

  • Thank you for posting this w/ such an educational and entertaining description. Separating the pieces visually was also much appreciated--bravo!

  • So why isn't the Swan part of this?

  • fuck this

  • @badman735 Such erudition is so impressive.

  • essa versão é só violoncelo e piano...

  • Saint-Saens wrote this as a party piece for a friends' reunion. and never intended it to be published. It is however a master piece in itself, showing his masterful skill at arranging.

  • OMG what is my LAST NAME doing in the title!!?? LOL

  • Comment removed

  • my favoutrite part is from 1:44

  • Lion is the best

  • wheres the finale?

  • @guiliano4: Check the earliest (last) video response to the present posting (or the first video in the suggestions on the right) and then the sole video response to the latter.

  • the dog in the tortoise part looks like marley....

  • brilliant witty music!

  • Is this the music from "tonnin Seteli"?

  • The swan can swim while sitting down. For pure conceit, he takes the crown. He looks in the mirror ova and ove - but claims to have never heard of Pavlova!

  • Tortoise = French can can

  • posted an orchestral piece of music on my friends facebook page as a birthday joke, Glad I did. Cause I'm really loving this music, :D

  • The Aquarium sounds like the song in Beauty and the Beast...

  • Camille "Sen Seans" was wracked with pains when people addressed him as "Saint Saints". He held the human race to blame because it could not pronounce his name. So he turned, with metronome and fife, to glorify - other forms of life. Be quiet please, for here begins, his salute, to feathers, furs, and fins. - Ogden Nash
  • @saullouis The lion is the king of beasts - and husband of the lioness. Gazelles and things on which he feasts, address him as "your hi-o-ness". There are those that admire him, in the African jungle and velts. But - I think, wherever a lion is ... I'd rather be somewhere else.

  • I love the "Tortoises":) "Can Can" but slower:P

  • "The Elephant" sounds soooo damn appropriate! I love it!!!

  • I'm 20 and I bet no one gives two crawling fucks about my age.

  • @majav15mg 20 is a weird age to me, cause my classmate is 20, and I'm 16, and we're both in 12th grade.

  • @guyboy625 Haha that's funny. I still consider myself a teenager psychologically but... I graduated from high school when I was 17. Wtf is your friend doing there?

  • @majav15mg I still consider myself a kid, and I probably still will when I'm 20. My friend's still there because he went to a computer science high school, which he ditched for regular public high school.

  • @guyboy625 ok but try to be mature at 20... I'm kinda paying the price of immaturity now haha

  • Comment removed

  • I have listened to classical music for 50 years and this is the first time I have been fortunate to hear this piece in its entirety. Thank you so much for giving me the chance! :)

  • Jynx Maze and Rebecca Linares starring The Wild Asses...Coming Soon.

    LOL

    Amazing work Camille!

  • No. 3 'Wild ASSES'??

  • @TheSoftypop I was shocked too

  • @TheSoftypop haha illiterate much?

  • yeaaaaaah

  • The "Bones" section was used for theme music for entertainment and documentary productions.

  • this is phenomenally beautiful, absolutely love it from beginning to end.

  • Like this if you favorite is the "tortoises"

  • hehehehe "The Wild Asses" hehe Still completely amazing

  • Aquarium sounds like one of the pieces from Beauty and the Beast

  • @LM1viola I knew this piece sounded extremely familiar but I couldn't recall what it was similar to.

  • @music8403 now you know! it sounds almost exactly the same when you think about it

  • @LM1viola The author of Prologue, the first piece to appear on the film, used Aquarium as an inspiration.

  • Aquarium is soo Tim Burton

  • @Tauts05 I think you mean soo Danny Elfman in that case.

  • Wow

I grew up on these songs...

I remember it when I asked my mom to put in the cassette so I could watch this... I've actually started to cry a little bit right now.

Thank you very much for uploading this

  • I like it :)

  • this piece is so dreamy,it takes you elsewhere ^_^

  • This is so beautiful, especially the music with the dolphins. It's magical and takes me someplace else every time I hear it.

  • We shall solve man's greatest mystery, what would a flock of flamingos do with a yo yo

  • there is a reason why the "dislike" bar cannot be seen. amazing!

  • Where is "The Swan"?

  • Like this if you favorite is The aquarium<3

  • @IloveBadminton23 Interesting that if you consider the scene in Beauty and the Beast where Belle wanders into the West Wing, the Aquarium segment sounds sort of like it. It's intriguing and beautiful.

  • Yes! I've been searching for the song 'the aquarium' for ages, because I heard it in beauty and the beast a very long time ago and a while ago on the radio. Glad I found it, its so beautiful. (:

  • I remember that the double bass for the elephant was more pronounced in another recording and the clarinet in the rooster part was not as stark..darn if I could remember which orchestra played this version around 1960. London Philharmonic or,,,

  • I remember that the double bass for the elephant was more pronounced in another recording and the clarinet in the rooster part was not as stark..darn if I could remember which orchestra played this version around 1960. London Philarmonic or,,,

  • No7 <3

  • This is serious substantial music, Saint-Saens was perhaps too dismissive of this work. Tchikovskie did now care for his Nutcracker Suite thinking of it in the same way but it was a commercial success from the start so he could not stop it from being preformed. :)

  • Oh-my-gosh, if I could die listening to one song it would be this O.O (especially aquarium)

  • I love hens and roosters so much ♥

  • Does anybody know the painter's name of the Kangorou?

    Thank you!!

  • Call me slow, but I just realized "The Aquarium" bit is used in "Atlantis: The Lost Empire" during the descent.

  • j'aime camille saint-saens! il est mon favori!

  • I don't think I've heard the Tortoises one before but it is so enchanting!

  • What is the name of the painter who painted that magnificent lion?

  • This is a masterpiece, certainly the most imaginative and original of SS creations. The emotion is deep, regardless of the composer's intention, and says more than the serious work of his he felt so "important".

  • 7:33 parce que c'est mon animal préféré x)

  • trying to do important coursework but I'm getting too distracted by the beauty and pure genius of these pieces.

  • My favorite one is definitely the wild donkeys. (Not because of the title.) I would love to learn to play it on the piano someday. Too bad my mother won't buy me sheet music... -__-

  • @bluefire773

    try to download some online

  • The Aquarium is my absolute favorite, so is the the lion, and the swan. In general Carnival of the animals make me happy =D

  • the aquarium sounds like beauty and the beast....

  • @pandachick1024 The Aquarium was used in Beauty and the Beast. It made me happy when I figured that out too :)

  • Totes gonna learn this tomorrow. NOCTURNES ARE THE COOLEST!

  • Is that Aslan?!?!

  • Thanks! I love the Elephant (and of course the Aquarium)!

  • just beautiful, one of my favourite melody

  • "Aquarium" was used on the opening credits of Terrence Mallick's "Days of heaven"

  • Last time I heard this I was a little kid! Thanks for uploading it. =)

  • Look at all the thumbs up for the fucking Kylie Minogue association concerning this piece. Fuck, the tragedy of it all...G...

  • Oh, dang, it did post! Oop.

  • It is my understanding the these pieces were written in relation to personal friends of his as a lark and that is the reason he did not publish the pieces.

  • I understand he modeled each animal in the Carnival after personal friends and this was part of the reason he did not publish

  • GO TO 8:30, ITS THE HARRY POTTER THEME SONG!!!(: hahaha

  • @dramagrl97

    No it's not...

It's in Beauty and the Beast, the Harry Potter theme song was composed by John Williams.

  • @xtrishax okay thank you(:

  • 10/10

  • I feel like Tortoises is the slower version of some song. Anyone know what that song is? I forgot..

  • @Streakist Jacques Offenbach's "The Infernal Galop" (The Can-Can) from Orpheus in the Underworld

  • Thanks for posting this, but major thanks for the description, it's very informative :-)

  • Compare the Aquarium section to the Beauty and the Beast opening song

    Interesting..

  • @Eucapperia it is the opening of beauty and the beast.

  • I greatly enjoy the Tortoise movement; I feel as though it gets overlooked.

  • at 4.30 ish it's the Can-Can just slowed way down. di you notice?

  • @KrisdashPaul not really :)

  • @KrisdashPaul It actually is; saens was actually poking fun at the old way of composing.

  • @KrisdashPaul whoa, dude, it IS!! XD i never would have realized that!

  • @bloogunproductions

do you have anymore info on this artist..a website?

  • @bloogunproductions Saint-Saens and Kylie Minogue are two things that should never be mentioned together.

  • @G33kz0r Oh well look at you, aren't you just sophisticated as anything. Kudos :)

  • Comment removed

  • @G33kz0r I like how you mentioned them together to!

  • @G33kz0r Verry Good

  • Whoever painted that lion works harder than I ever will in my life. I'm not sure if Saint-Saens worked hard or if he was a creative genius.

  • I was wondering the same thing. I'm pretty sure that it's in Disney's Beauty and the Beast.

  • @jordyclaus it was beauty and the beast! i probably wouldn't have gotten that unless you said something. i think they use it typically when she's around the rose or mirror.

  • @jordyclaus It's in Fantasia 2000, I think.

  • I LOVE THIS. The aquarium sounds really familiar though...was it in harry potter or something?

  • just a break of 11 min from the world

  • I'll play this music as 2nd violin for my school Orchestra!!! yuppi!! I'm so Happy!!!!

  • I love this song, thank you so much for posting all the parts in one!

For me, this song is just.... amazing, especially for each of the animals, they just FIT, and I was excited for each new animal to make an appearance. The orchestra was great, and everything just fell right into place. An all around great job

  • my favorite music is by camille saint-saens, i dont know life without his wonderful music! :D

  • Meh, don't like it very much. Well composed, but doesn't do the trick for me.

  • nice. i liked it very much.

  • tortoise: slow-motion Cancan :)

  • Another thing that I think is very interesting among this piece of music is that there are sections where every instrument plays the same melody; Just one octave higher or lower + accompanied by the piano. It's astonishing how powerful this could sound. Do you agree? Always thought it needs a big orchestra to sound powerful but if you orchestrate your melody well it's gonna be VERY powerful :D

By the way I really do like the sound of the double bass. Must have been a very expensive instrument.

  • Reminds of the time when I was 5, 6 or 7. :D I got a tape as a christmas present. One site A: "Peter and the Wolf" on site B: "Carnaval of the Animals". :D I loved this music so much that I listened to it a thousand times or more often, every evening. :D I tried to play it on piano... My sister got sick of it and hided it so that I could not find it anymore. :D Looking back right now it was better than any other kind of children's music stuff because it has awoken my passion for playin music.

  • "The Elephant" makes me giggle...

  • 12 people have no taste of music

  • @thomas41681That's a shame. This is really beautiful.

  • @thomas41681

    12 people are jealous.

  • Absolutely amazing! Saint-Saens perfectly managed the animal's personalities. I want to learn how to play "Elephants" on the trombone.
