What I really love is how this movie portrays Morgana the Fey as more than just the usual stereotype of the strong ruthless dangerous sorceress, but really as a woman who suffers loss and experiences love, and jealousy and all these things that are part of our human lives.
@stonehengesunset: Yes, she's usually the villain in other versions of the story, and she wasn't around at all in the 2004 "King Arthur" movie. On the other hand, they made Guinivere less likable in this version than what she usually is in other versions (I still don't hate her much as other people do though).
i will never understand how the guinevere character in this movie ended up married to begin with, let alone have 2 men drooling over her. she's brainless & very annoying, & what she did to morgaine, after asking for her help to begin with, is beyond mean. must be her looks they were after, i guess...trying to improve the gene pool. but why they'd continue drooling after her once they knew she was barren, i don't know. then there's mordred, the inbred psycho. whoops! failed that one, for sure.
If you read the book then you would know she ended up married because her father was a famous kind who bred horses for calveries. And sweet 17 year old Arthur needed calveries for his army aginst the Saxons.
@goldilocksgirly: While this Guinevere might not be the most likable person, I think Morgause and Vivianne deserves much more hate than she. At least I can feel sorry for Guinivere.
@Furienna Why does Viviane deserve hate? If you read the book you wouldn't feel that way. In the book the only people you really come to hate are Mordred, Morgause, and Bishop Particious. You hate Gwen during most of the book but she redeems herself somewhat in the end even though the damage has been done. You learn that Gwen started all of the troubles, Mordred and Morgause just made them worse. And the Bishop keeps egging Gwen on to make poor choices.
@Furienna She did it to produce a child born of the Old Royal Line of Avalon. Arthur and Morgaine were never supposed to have recognised each other. In the book the recognize each other the next morning after the Great Marriage. I think the Bishop who announces Arthur & Gwen's marriage is supposed to be him but I'm not sure. They were never really clear on that.
@phoenix1985: Vivianne was better than Morgause, I give you that, but that doesn't have to say much. What I dislike most about her is how she (and Merlin) tricks Morgaine and Arthur into having sex with each other and have a baby together. And by the way, was that bishop even in this movie?
Aaaargh! Little moanie supid niiny... never fails to do hersooob predictable puppy eyes... Why Lancelot fell in love with her is the biggest mystery of Avalon I guess, hehe...
Oh common! They changed so much in this movie. I always felt pity for Mordred. This was a scene that you actually witnessed how he was as much a victim as everyone else. Sigh.
When i first saw this movie, i was 12 years old and my sister was wiccan and she loved this movie. So do i, i think all religions are great in their own way. but some are not for thers as being a christain i respect their wishes and let them choose their own religions.
i think of myself know that i may not be a very good chirstain but i do know one thing love thy neightbor, is the right way of think in religions. all of them have the same thing and goals HEAVEN.
first off fuck you conquizto696.... I am so sick of being tolerant of people like you. You have not experienced religion of any kind in a positive way so you are ignorant and condemn everyone second off, saintmartika, I agree with you completely and you have my total respect despite the fact I am a Christian. I do not see those religions at odds with one another as long as both live a good life. God is too complex to be part of one religion. I choose to be Catholic, but it's not the only way.
"Because if you do...." we still won't F-ing care, lolz!
I'm sure b/c the violence of ur particular brand of religion, you expected an answer of the worst kinda violence & for that I PITY you. But I do not seek ur acceptance. Get over yourselves.
I'm sorry you feel that way about Christians. I did not expect a violent response from you, and I don't mean to start an argument. Disagreeing should never mean treating each other cruelly. I may not agree with you, but I respect your right to believe as you choose, and if I shared my beliefs with you or anyone else it would only be because I care, not because I think I am better. I sincerely hope you are blessed in your life.
I don't feel any certain way about Christians- just ppl who attempt to assert their beliefs on others. Violent indifference or self-defense does not equal violence
I honestly understand your need to share the news with others-i really do, just understand you will receive a very mixed bag of reactions because ppl don't like judgement, nor undermined in their own world-view.
& not all reactions against proselytizing can justify martyr counter reaction.
I don't understand why the followers of the goddess/old religion are willing to accept christians, but the christians refuse to accept the goddess and her followers...
because it stands in the bible "and you shall spread my word to every pagan as christian", no christian can or is really allowed to accept other religions
Yeah what wolf93 said. Also, it goes very far back with my Religion that all Religions came from the same line, and we have no need to hate one Religion, because that's not how it goes.
Think how differenet the world would be without Islam, Judism, and Christianity, where those main Religions came from Paganism, a peaceful Religion.
Christians accept the fact that pagans will worship their gods and goddesses but you must also understand that they also believe that the magic powers that pagans have and the rituals that they perform connect with Satan whom they renounce.
@Crystilwyn But the Christians have to understand that many Pagans don't follow the Satanic path, or the "dark path". Not all magical power comes from demonic sources. Some actually do come from God and the Goddess. In fact it is the dark pagans who have quietly infiltrated the Christian church for Satanic ends which is slowly becoming more evident today.
@TJWhitewolf Regardless of that it is the fact that Christians believe that Pagans "powers" or "gifts" come from Satan himself. That he wears a mask and portrays himself as your God and Goddess. We cannot dispute what people believe, however I do think that God shows different sides of his face to different people all of which has a different effect. Like a diamond with different facets will look slightly different and have a different effect on people from different angles.
@Crystilwyn I think you mean the fundamentalist puritanical "Christians" believe that. I know it all too well which is why I left the Catholic church nearly 15 years ago. The problem with Christians is that they give too much credit (and attention) to Satan and not nearly enough to God. The Christian dogma is littered with corruption, the likes of which have nothing at all to do with Christ himself.
i think that it's mainly a problem of the monotheistic religions, because they are taught, that there can only be one god, whereas politheistic religions teach that there are many gods and goddesses;
@Nilyore I read a book called "The Book of Mordred". It was really good and sort of like this. Gave him a story to not make him look as bad. I can't hate him after reading that!

We all came from a central religion. If no one accepts that, the world will never be right.
Just like we all came from a central race, and over time, due to our spreading out into the world, the pigments of our skin adapted.
This is fact.
I am Wiccan, and I have to say the feud between religions in silly. I accept all others, whether or not they choose to accept me.
Afterall, Christianity says "Love thy neighbour", whose to say it shouldn't be said the same, even if your neighbour is a Pagan?
