  • Peoples' Temple Reverend Jim Jones began his ministry as a door-to-door monkey salesman. See nothing/know nothing... go away, enjoy life...whack a Nigerian...Ernest Hemingway was killed in a plane crash. Catch cockroaches by lining your pockets with bait. Lie very still so as not to encourage suspicion from usually-suspicious roaches. Once the roaches fill your pockets madly dash into the street. Sell your roach-infested clothing to niggers and pocket the savings.

  • Hey MACKATTACK1970 get your head out of your ASS! Read the book if you are able. Then research those in that book. How the hell do you know more than MOHs Medal of Honor Recipients? May your new President can get you a free edcuation. Don't ever disrepect our country's brave heroes or you'll be picking up pieces of your teeth off the pavement.

  • I love everyone who talks of the cowardice of Mr. McCain. He never violated the Code of Conduct. Get your facts straight.

  • why hasnt mccain ever released the files from his POW days in the Hanoi Hilton?

  • Because those files would show his cowardice and his traitorous actions.

John McCain is another G.W. Bush and he will be no better.

  • Before you speak, make sure you know what you are talking about Mackattack. If by files you mean experiences/information he wrote a whole book about his experience called Faith of my Fathers. Go read it, it explains vividly his time as a POW.

  • John McCain 2008!!!

  • I too was disturbed when John folded in to the right wing during the primaries to tow the party line. Lately he seems to have gone back to his old style, but win or lose, i hope that he remains true to himself, and win or lose, I hope the next president leads well and this country prospers.

  • Speaking as a full-blooded democrat, I couldn't agreewith you more. I sincerly hope that Mr McCain stays true to his word and whoever wins we all find a better future. This isn't about them, it's about us.

  • Thank you my friend. (Sorry, didn't mean to sound like McCain) but may I also add that it's not just us, but for the good of the entire country, for us, the world, and for all the generations yet to come.

  • Absolutely! "Us", the people of the the country and the world. The same people who get talked about a lot during the election but seem to kept out of the loop the rest of the time. Here's to those who care about us more than party politics and bickering.

  • McCain=bad student, bad pilot, bad pow, mediocre senator (recall Keating Scandal).

Obama= state senator, runs for congress then loses and runs for senatate, then runs for prez. Oblah-blah.

Why can't America get some good candidates? Why can't we get our very best?

    We deserve the very best.

  • Being a "bad student" in school doesn't mean you're not the best. Sometimes we need someone who bends the rules a little bit. I'd rather have someone who goes against the grain rather than a conformist.

  • I will vote for Obama because he represents the hope and future of America.

  • "Being a POW qualifies you for the Presidency like being CARJACKED qualifies you for NASCAR.

Thanks to another poster for that one.

    Priceless!

  • and obama is qualified to lead a nation how. McCain has been atleast train in leadership.

  • mnole- Some(of the many)Obama qualifications:

    B.Intellect and Education..Being a "C" student is NOT OK(been there..done that)

C.Calm under fire. Known for being level headed. People worry that John has an anger problem(even folks in his own party).

C.Management ability.See the story in Newsweek about his management style. He runs his own meetings, listens to others, and built a well oiled campaign organization (did it fast). John has problems there. Management skills are important.

    (continued)

  • (continued)

    D.(A VERY important Obama qualification)

    The world

(including most world leaders)respect the hell out of him. His "celebrity status" worldwide is NOT a problem.

    It is a BIG ADVANTAGE!

Because, like it or not,it's a world stage and Obama plays well on a world stage. When you take Biden's knowledge and contacts and Obama's international respect and popularity..it's a great team for getting America some respect and cooperation in the world.

  • oops had some problems with my outlining

ABC etc...but you get the point

  • No, it doesn't qualify you. They even mentioned that at the RNC. BUT, it does show you what someone's made of.

  • What is he made of?

He dropped Naplam on villages and burned children to death. On the day he was shot down he was trying to take out the electricity for the whole city (that would be civilians too)He got shot down..he trades intel for medical attention..then feels quilty about that & bucks up for a few years until he breaks for the 2nd time. He declines to go home out of turn, but then makes a big deal of that, though it was what was expected of ALL POWs.

Yes it does show what he is made of.

  • someone should napalm your fucking ass.. i see you in a dark ally ........ jerk ass

  • When did he trade intel for medical attention? When they first captured him, he went five days without any medical attention. He was almost dead. He was taken to the hospital only when the Vietnamese realized he was a son of an admiral and they wanted to use him as a bargaining chip.

Yes, it was expected of all POWs to go home in the order of capture. He decided to follow the code, when he had a chance to go home early!!! Doesn't that say something GOOD about him?

  • Lis- Oh if that were only true...they didn't learn about his dad for some time after that.

    Read his book.

As regards going home out of turn:

That was what was expected of him. It is admirable that he did that. It really is.

It does not make him a Hero.

The REAL heros are the ones that did not break.

Real heroes do not brag about being heros.

And being shot down and imprisoned no more qualifies you to be President than being carjacked qualifies you for NASCAR.

  • I had said earlier that of course being a POW doesn't qualify you for the presidency. It was even mentioned at the RNC by one of the speakers.

Yes, he did break. So did a lot of the pilots there. Many of them signed confessions and I'm sure it still haunts them today, but they did the best they could under horrible conditions. I haven't read his book yet, but it is something I'm planning on doing. The information I was citing was from the A&E biography.

  • I don't really see him as bragging about this. I think he is actually pretty humble and earnest about his experiences, and I don't think talking about his past, of which being a POW was a major part of, is bragging.

At the RNC, it was mostly others talking about this POW experiences, not him. He touched on it, yes, but he also mentioned how others had been treated worse than him.

  • Ofcourse he brags about it..When the people that do the warm ups drill us with it. When they spend millions on adds that are about it.. "I'm John McCain and I approved this message" at the end. He isn't stupid. He lets his campaign do it for him. But, it's the same thing. I think if he had a little more class...he would have them tone this hero stuff way down. But..he wants to be President and he is willing keep playing the hero card..if thats what it takes.

  • Lis- I am not trying to be an Ass and not trying to beat you up. But, one more thing.

This video ( and others like it) are on HIS website.

    See what I mean.

  • I did notice that they repeated themselves a lot at the RNC. It seemed as if each speaker had a lot of latitude in what they chose to spoke about. There was a lot of repetition of the war hero message, which is probably due to his campaign advisors teling him to emphasize that. Whether he likes it or not is unknown to us.

  • I think both candidates should speak about their life experiences. To me, McCain served his country and he served it well, but I'm not voting for him because of that. Actually, what attracted me to him initially 8 years ago, was his record in the Senate against pork barrel spending. I really want someone who will go against party lines if he has to. I didn't even know anything about his life story then.

Who else would promise at the RNC to rat out members of his own party for overspending?

  • Liss- I was once a McCain guy (seriously)

When he flipped on some of the issues that had made him the "maverick" it bothered me. Example: Waterboarding and Taxes. He was against tax cuts for the rich for yrs. said they were "immoral".. and they are. The huge debt we are rolling up with China, so the rich can have a tax cut will have to be paid by our kids. Thats wrong.

But to get the nomination, he had to renig on what he said was a heartfelt position. He wants it too much.

  • Lis- I looked at the math. If MCain cuts most of the earmarks and pork..it comes nowhere near paying for the war and the tax cuts for the wealthy, Nowhere close.

Obama doesn't deal well with the debt either,,but most economists think Obama will add 3 trll to the debt while McCain adds 5 trill to the debt. They are charging that to my kids, I don't like it. And at least under the Obama plan we get health care and more investment in alternative energy.

Open end wars will bankrupt the country.

  • McCain said he promotes all kinds of alternative energy. In fact, he's proposing a $300 million prize to improve batteries for hybrids and electric cars. That's only one of serveral alternative-energy proposals of his.

Under Obama's plan 2/3 of the population is "rich," including small business. If small businesses are taxed, they're apt to hire less and pay less, and raises prices. According to the Washington post, the tax rate for small businesses would be 54.9%. That's quite a lot.

  • Liss -so why do you start the post taliking about McCains energy plans, but do not then talk about Obama's?

You then change the subject to taxes.

Thats like comparing apples an oranges.

Why not compare energy plans .. or compare tax plans.

Can you give a link on that 59% tax rate...that doesn't sound right.

    Thanks

  • Liss- I was told today that McCain has never in the past voted for funding for any of the alternative energy sources that he now says he supports. And in fact, has always voted against these things. I want to check into that. I hope thats not true. I really like his proposal for prizes for innovation..it's a great idea. If he wins I hope he follows through. I was disappointed that he keeps saying that Obama is against Nuclear..when Obama is OK with it if the waste situation is handled.

  • Liss- "mentioned" at the RNC is the problem. It may have been mentioned..but in general, we were beaten over the head with " war hero". Think back to all the videos they ran..how ALL the speakers that preceded him made the war hero thing a HUGE part of the sales pitch. Hell Thomspon even lied and said that John NEVER Broke.

It is a sales pitch. They are playing us.

It's a good pitch...it may work...but I think , in the end it is manipulative and many McCain supporters don't see that.

  • You think he didn't know that there were 3 separate war hero videos played on that Big screen at the RNC?

You think he doesn't know about all the war hero TV ads?

That Thompsons speech was wall to wall war hero.?

Well, if he doesn't...then that means he doesn't know whats going on in his own campaign. Thats also a scary thought.

  • what ever you say "Jane Fonda"

  • Okay...so how does this apply to the campaign issues? Being sot down and becoming a POW doesn't make him a hero. Bottom line, that's a occupational hazard of being in the military. Time to put away the POW flag for something with more relevance.

  • I shall vote for McCain not because I am a Vietnam Veteran, but because he is the better qualified of the two candidates!

    -- Bill Morris

    USAF Vietnam Veteran, 1969-1970

  • This man is all positive spirit!

  • Thank you for posting this. The leftists out there have made this man out to be a monster. He's human just like the rest of us.
