  • I need advice on this. Is anyone willing to message me whose dealt with hyperthyroidism.

  • I have had Hypothyroidism in 5 years now. And it's not in control, mustly because no doctor takes it serious! + I work out everyday and eat healthy, but I still gain weight like crazy.

It's just awful, and I feel like I'm going no where.. :(

  • Im 17 and I have hypothyroidism

    Its shit

  • @dxf323: There are articles I write on these subjects. I post them on my channel in the comment section - to educate the public.

  • @dxf323 I feel your pain ): i am also seventeen with hypothyroidism and it's a struggle to live this way

  • So what is better; synthroid or armour??

  • HYPTOOT FAITH EVANS

  • My new Primary Care Provider who specializes in a number of illnesses and issues just told me at age 26 that part(s) of my thyroid gland were enlarged on palpation. She is sending me for a thyroid ultrasound and did a plethora of other blood tests seeing as though I have similar symptoms to other conditions. I was told last December that I have elevated cholesterol, I am 66 inches tall and was 123 pounds now I am 138 pounds...I am gaining a lot easier than ever. And I itch all over.

  • I FUCKING HATE IT THAT I HAVE THIS I CANT JOIN THE MILITARY FUCKING SHIT !

  • @chabi3000: There is a naturopathic approach for hypothyroidism.

  • i take synthroid

  • I have a lot of symtoms of hypothyroidism, but doctors here(estonia) don't believe that i have anything wrong, because i had my TSH done and they said everything is alright. But i still feel like something is wrong. Should i consult some other doctors?

  • i found out i had it like a year ago and its not a big deal

  • Look back 100 years at how "primitive" the medical profession was. Look ahead 100 years. Can you hear people saying how primitive we are? That's because we are. In 100 years, thyroid problems probably won't be a problem--doctors will know it when they see it and know what to do about it.

  • 350 dollors for a blood test? That's stupid. I'm glad I live in Sweden where it's pretty much free to take blood tests.

  • @snowytiger Here in Sweden, we pay a LOT more than that, even if we don't have ANY tests--our taxes pay for everyone's medical and our taxes are REALLY high. It's been estimated that Swedes pay twice as much as Americans for medical care--and the Swedish medical care is inferior to the American. [Good luck with Obamacare, folks.]

  • @talitha00cumi Actually, 16% of the US GDP is spent on healthcare, compared to 9.2% for Sweden

  • I am a recovered fibromyalgic who had to leave the care of the medical profession to discover the cause and cure of this horrific condition without drugs. I am living proof that you can cure this condition and take back your life. Please, do not give up from failed hope. Symptoms are often mistaken for the cause and certain treatment that can help do not cure this. Keep going!!!

  • I've had many if not all the symptoms for years and when I turn 39 I'm diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I don't understand how the numerous doctors I went to couldn't pinpoint the problem. I've been on synthroid for about 6 months and I just found out it's not working. they're upping my dosage, and will start it tomorrow. I just hope it works! Thank God for PPO insurance because after researching the Thyroid, I made my own app to an Endocrinolgist and will be seeing her in about a month.

  • @aeo2608 strange synthroid didn't work for u. any updates?

  • @hereonearthme synthroid is T4 only. I was on it for 23 years and my life was almost destroyed. Once I switched to ERFA (Dessicated Thyroid) and had my adrenals checked and then treated, I was a new person. My old doctor NEVER checked my B12 or Vitamin D levels. I was extremely low in both. Thank God for Dessicated.

  • @aeo2608

I was on .025 mcg and am now on 75 mg and it appears to be working. I'll know how effective it's been at my next blood work.

  • Man, when I started taking levothyroxin for hypothyroidism my weight shed off LIKE CRAZY. Holy crap. I lost about 50lbs. in about 2 years, not kidding. I didn't really change my diet much or anything and I exercise about the same.

It's dumb how hard hypothyroidism makes losing weight. I'm starting to gain weight again, way too fast and I'm tired a lot so I guess my dose should be increased.

  • That bitch needs to stop cutting people off.

  • Man, this describes me to a tee!

  • I truly believe I have this. My feet have been freezing so bad lately that I've been sticking disposable heating pads in my socks. I also can't even get out of bed, I feel like I can never get enough sleep, I have hair missing on the left side of my head. I gained lots of weight but I blamed my pregnancies. I take bupropion for depression. I'm just afraid if i go to the dr they probably will send me back home with nothing like always.

  • go to a walk in clinic or your doctor and ask him to get u a blood test for hypothyroid as soon as possible.most doctors overlook this.

  • This is such an underrated illness and should be taken a lot more seriously. If it was treated properly alot more people would be more able bodied and be able to get on in life. I think we need a Treat the Thyroid seriously day.

  • synthroid doesn't work for everyone that does NOT mean most people do well on natural thyroid either. find out who is pumping you will this BS and what they are actually selling: books and snake oils.

  • cold hands feet and weight gain are not the most common symptoms if you are going to try to educate people start with yourself.

  • well why dont you educate her instead of putting her down on what she knows?

  • @jimbob202019 I am fed up with these "doctors" making false claims and these self appointed patient advocates creating hysteria without the real facts. before you try to promote a medical controversy you should earn a medical degree. ther eis a reason no endocrinologists endorse this crap.

  • You must be a doctor. Only a doctor would be so arrogant as to comment that "You should earn a medical degree". There are lots of extremely intelligent people who are not doctors actually. Imagine that...

Also, why are you so against people trying different treatments to get better? Obviously, you have not spent much time with those who have suffered on the wrong thyroid medicine.

Seriously, what exactly is your beef with docs trying to help thyroid patients feel better?

  • @lynncrf there is a vast amount of BS being manufactured by so-called natural doctors and companies that endangers lives and causes mistrust where it doesn't belong. self appointed experts are not helping people.

  • Spin doctors are a problem in the health field yes; but I don't see any spin doctors in the thyroid area. If you ask me, there is a heck of a lot of licensed medical professionals caught up in the spin of big pharma!

These docs are letting people know there is another med out there with a 100 year history of safe use. Thats not spinning; that is providing facts to the patient.

  • I almost died taking synthroid it gave me sever Diarrhea and burning stomach also I lost half of my hair on synthroid,My doc put me on armor and now I feel like I did before my thyroid was removed. If you have a thyroid synthroid may be o.k. but it only has t4 you need- t4- t3- t1- t2 and other trace elements that the synthetic drugs do not have.Natural drugs have all of the elements your body needs.

  • your post is making me think cause i havung diarrhea recently and i feel like im gonna vomit like my stomach dont feel right i am taking synthroid i have been on it almost two years but lately im not feeling well i think im gonna talk to my doctor about switching meds

  • i just started crying because its so overwhelmingly nice to hear someone actually talk about hypothyroid and how horrible it feels...

im only 18--and im basically dying.

and my doctor is STILL forcing me to wait another 2 months before putting me on thyroid medication....its insane.

  • thanks 4 posting!

  • I suffer from loss of hair, pail and wait gain with hypothryroidism.... I have a lot of other conditions though as well, which probaly by aggrevates my dysautonomia.

  • It's weird. I've had hypothyroidism all my life and I've never had any major problems. Synthroid keeps most of that in check.

  • You are correct! Synthroid is a great med! ;-)

  • have u taken armour too?

  • see an endocronologist and ask for armour thyroid thats the best becz its natural also consider taking iodine suppl

  • my gyno sent me to a specialist because i was bleeding for months...it's so frustrating when doctors tell you nothing is wrong because each one of us knows their body the best and we know when something is wrong...

  • That's what my doctor used to tell me,everything is alright, you're just a teenager that's why you're so tired... by the time i was diagnosed,i was depressed to the point i tried to commit suicide,if i combed my hair i would lose a handful,my skin was so dry and cracked, was pale as a ghost, passing out, missing school, insomnia became a part of everyday life even though i was tired as hell...

  • I just started a med for my hypo. I wasn't worried at all. I have some strange symptoms that must be my thyroid problem-and I am skinny so not all overweight ppl have hypo. You don't always need an endo unless you have nodules or cancer.

  • Hmm. Check out the first frames: Who sponsored the segment? The center run and so named by this Hotze guy himself. In other words, he paid to be on TV and this is nothing more than his own commercial.

The title is misleading, indeed. Given all the misinformation this man doles out, Id hardly call him an Expert.

I wonder, how many naïve women actually fall for this guy? How many more go to him and pay him their money?

    Sad.

  • that's what we did, we finally just got a new doc and he found the problem RIGHT AWAY - "YOU HAVE HYPOTHYROIDISM."

    Loss of hair

    Feeling cold

    pail

    groggy

    wait gain

    ...

    So many symptoms...

Catch it before it gets out of hand!!

  • I'm reading "Overcoming Thyroid Disorder". Whenever, I start reading a new book, I'm always curious what I will find on YouTube about the subject. This is a really good video because it stresses that the best expert on you is you and if you don't feel right, you must aggressively seek out the help you need. But, I also wanted to mention that Synthroid doesn't help everyone according to this book, so you may want to talk to your doctor about Armour Thyroid.

  • what the lady doc said about "hair can come back" does give me a ray of hope. I'm hypo and going through hair loss. It's so distressing. I've had chemo for breast cancer 3 years ago and this was veyr traumatic for me so every monring in the shower is a very stressful time for me as I tend to lose about 50-100 a day. My endo says it will grow back but I don't see it happening.
