I understand that nuclear arms are dangerous and need to be dealt with but where is the assurance that Russia or America back out. Is there anything other than words written on paper that will keep this treaty going. And by my knowledge the treaty can only be ended if both parties mutually agree to end it, so what happens when one country backs out without the mutual consent of another? what are the consequences? Can someone tell me? I myself am not good at searching answers out so I'd like some

This is another matter that is not particularly political - it's a shift of resources away from weapon stockpiles that don't have as much of a place in today's world than they did 30 years ago. I would expect any competent president, regardless of policy, to have their administration take steps such as these. Past presidents of both parties have taken steps of this sort, as no doubt future presidents will.

Great news! Question, what's being done with the warheads? Is it possible or cost effective to reprocess the highly enriched uranium for use in nuclear power stations? I understand that weapons grade uranium is a higher refinement at greater then 20% U-235,233 concentration. Could this material be diluted to say 3% to 5% U-235 making it palatable for our commercial light water reactors?
