While I'm definitely exited for this, I do wish they would occasionaly move on from basing everything somehow around Kite. I'd honestly like to see something that's either a continuation or throwback to Tsukasa, the original .Hack protagonist. It was nice to see him again in Link but i'd like to see that built on.

@DynastyGuy tsukasa isnt the original .hack protagonist, kite is actually the true protagonist of the .hack universe, or someone using a variation of his character, tsukasa was just the main protagonist of .hack//sign

@Xelahmic Well you're half right. Kite is definitely the true protagonist and the face of the .Hack franchise, I can't and didn't say anything to argue against that. But you're wrong about Tsukasa, he (or she rather) is the original protagonist. .Hack Sign was the first .Hack product ever released and its how the entire franchise started. Even if .Hack Sign was just a prologue to the games it doesn't change that It all began with Tsukasa. without him there would be no Kite.

@DynastyGuy very true, i had forgotten about the chronology of the series, but i guess the reason they keep using kites character is because while tsukasa, kite, and haseo all have some kind of connection with aura, aura has developed a pattern of giving kites character the twilight bracelet to use data drain, and any other character having the twilight bracelet now would be weird.....which im also wondering if sora gets the twilight bracelet in this movie.

I haven't been into the .hack series since I finished the Legend of the Twilight Bracelet and the Infection-Quarantine, but I have been checking in every once in a while. .hack series 1: takes place WAAAAAY before this, when Kite was controlled by a 14 year old boy. sometime after, that boy quit "The World" altogether.

.hack//G.U. (series 2): Kite (character model) returns, modifyed by Aura (Sentiant AI) to appear physically damaged and given an AI all it's own. This variation of Kite is known as Azure Kite.

.hack//TheMovie: a girl named Sora creates a character that happens to look exactly like Kite, only female.
