A former top climate scientist who had become of one the scientific world's most cited authorities on the human effect on Earth's atmosphere was sentenced to probation Tuesday after pleading guilty to steering lucrative no-bid contracts to his wife's company.

In addition to a year's probation, former NASA manager Mark Schoeberl, 60, of Silver Spring, was also fined $10,000 and ordered to put in 50 hours of community service.

I wonder how much more devastating famines, droughts and other catastrophes which loom over our civilization nowadays would be w/o the data and objective interpretation of NASA scientists showcased in this series?

Atoyota- as we cripple our energy storing "cooling" systems and quickly use energy reserves which heat the planet (assuming we agree this is bad) why would we bring in more energy from space?

1st, water vapor is the primary inhibitent to energy dissipation, 2nd deforestation affects temperature and climate as it stages for weather patterns, not to mention CO2 displacement as a system that consumes and stores CO2 as well as "energy"

The climate damage done to our planet is more through development and sprawl with correlated energy consumption (energy of any type).

Bottom line, as civilization grows, we heat up.

Space based solar is the only solution.

FFS im fed up of hearing about climate change instead of talking about it why arent we acting about it? And besides methane is 20x worse than CO2 and is what is probably causuing the global warming more than CO2, let me give you an example rice plantations release tons of methane each year so do cows, humans and other mammals. But we cannot fully deplete CO2 as we need a small greenhouse effect to keep our planet nice and warm. Its very contraversial and we need to act now.
