I only listen to puscifer for my dose of new maynard material. A lot of it seems like filler, and a lot of it is. But sprinkled here and there on the albums is a gem worth listening to over and over
I hope people would give Billy credit for A Perfect Circle since he after all created the band and most if not all of the songs. Maynard joined the band after hearing Billy's songs while he was a guitar tech for Tool. Billy originally wanted a female singer. The reason they sound similar is because Billy does BGVs and main vocals on a lot of APC. I'd rather not hear Maynard on this. Let Billy do his own thing. Maynard is famous enough.

To me, Ashes Divide is not just some side project of Howerdel's. This album is one of my favorites of all time; it grew on me like crazy. I like it even more than APC (yes, I said it).

@wurzyking When it comes to A Perfect Circle it is 50/50 between Billy and Maynard. Billy is responsible for composing the music in the band and Maynard is responsible for providing the lyrics. With out both of those we would have no APC.
@wurzyking It really is a near 50/50 band. Howerdel stated that he has a lot of songs lined up and he's been talking to Maynard Keenan about which songs are going to be on APC's album, and the rest are likely to make an AD album.

Billy Howerdal is one of the greatest guitarists of all time, i've listened to his music with APC and TOOL since they started. ASHES dIVIDE was Billy's time to shine and it worked. Well at least for me.

@doeyenou Peach had one album, called Giving Birth To A Stone. Peach's bassist is Justin Chancellor, who is now Tool's bassist. Listen to "You Lied" and "Spasm" by Peach. Singer's voice gets a bit annoying after a while, but other then that they're really good.

Billy Howerdal is one of the greatest guitarists of all time, i've listened to his music with APC and TOOL since they started. ASHES dIVIDE was Billy's time to shine and it worked. Well at least for me.

@doeyenou Peach had one album, called Giving Birth To A Stone. Peach's bassist is Justin Chancellor, who is now Tool's bassist. Listen to "You Lied" and "Spasm" by Peach. Singer's voice gets a bit annoying after a while, but other then that they're really good.

You guys are idiots. Maynard himself said that Billy wrote all the music. Billy had most of the 1st album ready. Billy showed the songs to Maynard and Maynard said he could hear himself singing the songs. Then it just blew-up. Billy is nice by saying that it's 50/50. Maynard thinks its important for the music to come first...then the lyrics/words. Listen to King Crimson.

@Crimsonphilosphy - You do realize that Billy Howerdel wrote the lyrics and most of the music for APC since it was his band? He just felt like Maynard's vocals would better suit the music he was trying to create.

@ranbarh this isn't true at all most of the song's lyrics were written by maynard; except most of the songs of emotive of course (covers)... just take a look at the song Judith...why would Billy Howerdel write a song about Maynard's mom? and this is just one example. just setting the record straight

@Wakatempo Billy wrote most of APC stuff. MAynard was a words guy, he helped Billy word things better and provided flow to the lyrics. Yes some songs Maynard did write (Most of Mer De Noms was written by Maynard.) But APC is really Billy's.

Ashes Divide, a great side project from Billy Howerdel. I absolutely love this tune. it invokes plenty from A Perfect Circle. my, how they are sorely missed.
