This is awesome, but I remember back in the 70s being annoyed by those kids. I guess I was about their same age. I wonder what they're like now and if this skit is something they still remember or talk about.
@StephJo61 Mine too. It still is, 15 years later. A teenager that insisted on a VCR/DVD combo so she could still watch all of her old Sesame Street and Disney tapes.
i love james taylor and i loved sesame street when i was a kid (of course).. but these kids need to stfu for real!! Lolz.. god they are annoying.. singing (or should i say yelling) way to loud.. i wanna slap the shit out of 'em.. and i say this w/ all due respect.. Lolz
actually a pretty good song. and will always be engrained in my head from count, count, countless times of watching this video as a child. my favorite part is how wide the kids mouths can get because they are sooooo into singing with the great jelly man.
when my son was 3 (now 21) me and my wife would put him on our little pool in bkly and sing him this song ALL DAY while he smiled and we kissed him, I cryed when i listened to this 18 years later
@ESPN Let me help...One ah ha ha, Two ah ha ha, Three ah ha ha, Four ah ha ha, Five ah ha ha, SIIIIX ah ha ha, Seven ah ha ha, Eight ah ha ha, Nine ah ha ha, Ten. Ten ways to love Sesame Street and James Taylor! Ah ha ha.
This was one a big Sesame Street special. We taped it a long time ago, and this was our favorite part, the second place going to Put Down The Ducky with all sorts of famous people.
I knew from the second I saw this video when I was no more than 3 that I wanted to play the guitar exactly like James Taylor... I'm almost 19 now and have been playing for 10 years :)
This is just PRECIOUS!! Been in love with James since I was 5 yrs old (just saw James and Carole King in their Troubadour Reunion Concert a couple of months ago). My favorite albums as a child were the JT album and Sesame Street's In Harmony album which had this song on it. Thanks for sharing this!!
@lollyworm54 I also fell in love with James at the age of 5 (I'm 38 now). My mom would play Your Smiling Face from the JT album every night for me before I got ready for bed! And when she bought me the In Harmony Sesame Street album I played this song over and over. I <3 me some James Taylor!!
@jez311 I LOVE THIS SONG. I watched it years ago when my children were growing up. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this song.......and lest we forget, JAMES TAYLOR !!
Haha, I remember watchin this as a kid, I was like 4 or something. My parents think it was because of things like this that I got so into music. maybe, lol, who knows
pure classic this was when Seseme Street was still being fresh such and establishing an idenity at the same time as Cartoon Network, Fox, Nickolodean, PBS, even though it has been doing it wayyyyyy before this sketch came out.
Since I like HomeStarRunner-Dot-Com, seeing that old Strong Bad e-mail from years ago titled "for kids," I can't help but think of this Sesame Street segment.
"Stave it off. 1-2-3 and now you can count to Three."
For anyone who knows Homestar Runner, they'll know what I'm talking about.
this clip is awesome! I remember this from being a kid. James does such a good job directing those kids. Fun clip, great little performance from James Taylor.
Oh wow, I remember watching this and singing along with the kids when I was little!! This has to be one of my favorite Sesame Street clips ever!! Nostalgia....
Oh wow! I own a copy of this "sing yourself silly" episode!!
I remember playing it for my oldest son and his brother(before he passed away)in 1997. My oldest is now 14years old. I still play it every now and then for my youngest son... and also for myself. Good episode of Sesame Street!!
I ADORE this video/song! The kids screaming the chorus puts a smile on my face every time. They're obviously having a terrific time. And pay attention to the tuba player...his little grin at the end is so sweet! Many memories of my two sons and I singing along with this...
When I was about 4 and my sister was 3 we would sing this at the top of our lungs (wrongly) 'OOOHHH! Jenny, come! Come! Jenny Come, come! Jenny! Jenny! Come!' wow...we really destroyed the lyrics. LOL! My older sister used to yell at us to shut up. Looking back, if I were to see the younger version on myself singing this, I'd get annoyed with me too. LOL!
I absolutely love this, along with the rest of the Sing Yourself Silly video! I also like the "Ladybug Picnic" a lot! Now, my babies are almost grown... sigh... :_(___
My kids used to watch this song on a vhs tape, and for years they referred to James Taylor as the "Sesame Street Guy". Great memories for this Mommy!!
I never knew what they were saying in the chorus, nor did I know the verses when I was a kid, but I remember watching this so vividly that seeing it now is so unbelievably comforting.
Like all of James Taylors songs but Jellyman Kelly is my favorite. It gives me the "warm fuzzies" every time I hear it because when my grandson was about 2 years old we saw it on Sesame street and then I went out and bought the video.
