"but unfortunately there was Mario del Monaco at her side: Loud, crude, near to destroy the whole performance with his ridiculous manner to change french Don José into sicilian Turiddu."
Hearing this video and the ovation (its on YT), one has the impression that people in the USSR had no idea what singing is. They hailed Mario del Monaco like crazy. What a pity that they did not consult you prior to inviting and glorifying him.
This selection is called Habanera, not Havanaise.
Irina Konstantinovna was a tremendous dramatic singer—though not a "charm" singer— and leading mezzo of the Bolshoy for a whole generation. She certainly belongs here.
Amazing. Great voice, although I also don´t like her breathing techinque, she's breaking the lines. But Carmen in Russian is even more hard to sing, but the voice is amazing, wonderfull!
May her soul rest in peace. One of the greatest singers !

Madame Arkhipova is, was while still alive, in the glory of the Great R.I.P.
Thank you very much for the video

If you want to compare her timbre, I'd take Fiorenza Cossotto rather than Christa Ludwig:
Archipowa's voice has more metal than Ludwig's.
A wonderful performance, by the way. I like her Carmen better than Elena Obraszowa's, who overacts a bit.

Exciting- I wish there were more of her singing other than of her glorious roles.
I think she would have been a great Azucena and Ulrica.
This performance is tremendous. Thank you.

Irina Arkhipova sang on stage Azucena ( with Caballe as Leonora) and Ulrica - (in San- Francisco) in 70-years. It was wonderful!
