Thanks Winnie: Classical, popular, ragtime, etc. You could play it all. As you continue your journey, we listen and remember. God bless you. Bob & Linda in Canada
Mike, this is a rare track in the UK, it wasn't released until included on a Decca budget compilation LP, so it's really great to see Winnie playing it here!
I used to have an old vinyl version of this, alas, it is now gone. I also had a recordinng of her playing Grieg Piano Concerto, backed with Rhapsody in Blue. Both excellent recordings. Maybe I will ask Decca if they have been re-released on cd.
You can actually by this recording on cd. Look out for it on the Vocalion label (I think. I'm on a freind"s computer so I can't check). It is DEFINATELY available though!
No Mike I havent heard her play any of the well known classics. All one ever hears on the radio with listeners requests here in Perth is Winnie playing her ragtime music I look forward to hearing her play Chopins "Nocturne in Eb"
Winnie was a remarkable pianist. Not only could she belt out the ivories, but she could sit and be a serious pianist as well. I have a couple of old vinyl LPs of Winnie playing this very number and a host of others, but ironically only one old 78 RPM record of her playing the Poor People of Paris - a great number
