When my guinea pig had babies, it was in the middle of the night and we had no idea it had happened until the next morning. We thought we had two females, but it turned out one was a male lol We had no idea our female was pregnant! It actually scared my mom when she went to feed them in the morning and there were two babies running around. We thought it was weird that there was no blood or anything, but it looks like there's none in this birth either...

hey i had bought a pregnent guinea pig but i knew k and she gave birth to 3 babys but the last one came out dead and kinda flat then we kept 1 we named him chiwauwaua and he got her pregnent again and she gave birth to 4 babys we kept 2 one we gave to a friend the other my sis had for a class pet and for some odd reason one got sick and died then tasha sadly from old age died she had lived about 5 yrs and chiwahwaha jr lived to be 4 yrs and chiwahwaha lived to be almost 7 i loved him so much.

While you're busy worrying if your phone is charged and whether you can record the birthing, the second pup is fighting to get rid of the sac from across the nose, and the mum was totally oblivious... What stopped you getting a soft towel and gently wiping the 2nd pup's nose? Also the slimy thing is normal, its a sac and placenta. The mum doesn't primarily get rid off it to prevent predators... the most important reason is to allow respiration.

Generally the sac is removed pretty efficiently, and the discarded sac may be detected by smell later on down the track.

Also, it was pretty obvious the other female guinea was happily and safely helping to remove the sac and severe the placenta.

Whether or not you intended or expected the birthing, it would have been much fairer to have a clearer idea of exactly what was going on. There is a ton of info online, and nothing stopping u seeking it, so that u can assist in the best birth possible

yeah, those things get out of their mum and are running around in moments. one time, we had 2 girls that were pregnant at the same time, one gave birth, then a week later, the other one did, i didn't notice until i saw that one of the babies was all wet, then on closer inspection, there were 3 more babies than before. but they were acting just like the week old ones and they couldn't have been more than an hour old.

My mother used to breed cavies and she had two females in one cage. We used to laugh because when Scruffy would give birth Cocoa wanted nothing to do with it and when Coco gave birth, Scruffy would take care of all of them. This was one reason that one of Cocoa's babies turned out to be such a good mom when my mom bred her.
