i got an Airline Twin Tone today! it's the metallic blue. traded my Squier HH Jaguar for it. i LOVE this guitar. it's going to be getting a Bigsby B5 before too long.
im looking for a new guitar. i want versitile guitar that will be able to play classic rock, hardcore, and post rock. And im wondering would you recomend this to a good guitar player who has been playing for over 5 years and needs to replace his old ibanez
Is it just me, or is this guitar...um...junk? LOL! I think it's a replica of those old cheapo Montgomery Wards guitars from the 60's. The guy is a good player, but I don't know about that guitar. I personally don't like the sound of it either. OK, let me have it...I know I'm bound to get bashed for those statements.
@yepyepyep678 Maybe if you're upgrading from a squier or something. No matter how you slice it, these are low-quality imports made in China. You can get them brand new for like $450 or so, I reckon. Maybe would be an upgrade from a Danelectro or some low-end Squiers, but that's about it. But you go 'head and buy one, and enjoy it bro. To each his own. :-)
If I put the VVSC PUs in this guitar and put it through the right fuzz, would I be able to create a White Stripes-esque tone despite the fact that Jack's guitar is tone chambered?
They weren't disguised as humbuckers, a common misconception and easy to believe. Humbuckers came after the Valco/Supro pickups, they weren't trying to look like humbuckers as humbuckers came in July 1959, the Valco single coil patent was filed in July 1954.
Cole from the Black Lips plays this one, he also spit on it during shows.

so it says on the website that it comes with dual hotrail humbuckers. That still means they are ceramic humbuckers correct?

If I were to order this with a p-94 pick up in the neck, how much would that run me?

Umm. . .Keith and Brian mighta played Airlines in a video for 3 minutes, but never ever after. They were into Harmonys early on.

I won't swear on it, but I'm pretty shure that they used some airlines live a couple of times, but in general they prefered other brands.

You can only get the White Stripe tone with single coils, since the original Airline he played had single coils disguised as humbuckers.

Yeah, I know that, it wasn't really what I was asking, but I'm good now, since I got the Airline Deluxe
IWasBored12 3 years ago
yea, that's what the VVSCs are. they are single coils disguised as humbuckers like the originals.
