One tip for you: pull the trigger with your first digit and not your second, It'll make your accuracy loads better. If the trigger is too hard, then get a gunsmith to tune it.
Canadian Military used a version of this weapon at one time, it was a beautiful weapon. Reliable, durable and accurate a little heavy when you have been humpin you ass through the bush all week, but I'd still reather have it back than the garbage they have today.
I hear you man, there was some crazy sht in the air in the 80s and 90s where a lot of country's ditched their perfectly cool and durable Battle Rifles for the junk toys they use now.
I used the L85 in the British Army and that was NOWHERE near as good as this weapon.
Nearly everything about the SA 80 was inferior, even stripping it down was a nightmare, being difficult to clean.
@WatchRyder I've heard the L85A2 greatly improved on the L85A1. I'll agree with you that the FAL is probably a superior rifle quite heavy and long though. A lot of countries end up fielding .308 rifles again because of the limitations of the small caliber 5.56x45.
Great vid. I only wish the FAL was unrestricted in Canada. Odd question: can you ID the 8-bit theme music?
Thanks

@TheQuino19
I got it from a friend who makes music like this.
It's called 'It Never Stops Raining' as far as I can recall...

To me the FN FAL/SLR is the total Package. Hard hitting with 7.62 round. Semi or fully automatic. and with scope added can make a great sniper rifle

@15Billman
I've used my first digit (index finger) for triggering since childhood.
Good call on the gunsmith though, for expensive and sophisticated weapons this is a wise move...

@WatchRyder i think hes referring to the first digit of your index finger. the one that your fingernail is on..

whats the scope mount called?

@jigglejack100
The Scope make is a Leaper.
The forged upper-receiver came with a picatinny rail already in place for mounting scopes, accessory's etc.

Honestly, the FAL is a GREAT weapon. It's very durable, it fires a powerful round, and is fairly manageable.

That the L85A2 did improve.
However the improvements were only minor.
The cocking handle was replaced, gas parts also I believe.
But the fundimental flaws of it remain, safety catch and change lever in the 'wrong' position etc.
