This would be awesome to place in a mob farm. Make an Obsidian platform where mobs are pushed onto and launch TNT at them from a safespot.=D

@Milennin Not really, the explosion from the TNT would also have a good chance of destroying any items the mob was carrying at the time, due to the size of the explosion and the fact that dropped items have no HP and break at the slightest sneeze.

Mobavator is your best method of mob farming, because you get xp that way at the same time for your enchanting needs. If you don't care about xp, then a good ol' fashioned Lava Blade works wonders.

It doesn't quite work that way. When a block is in motion, the game doesn't really count it as a solid block. Example: when TNT is ignited, you can walk through it. It's the same way with flying sand.

@DashGordon124 Wireless transmisions, it falls everytime on the same spot so you can use it to trigger a redstone circuit by making it fall between a repeter and a redstone dust so it closes the circuit :)

You can propel the sand into a bud switch, this might cause a block update and lock down a area somewhere somehow for adventure maps. Also shooting it into a cuircuit after a repeater allows power to go through the sand block, YOU JUST MADE A LONG RANGE/LOUD THINGY MASHINE THING THAT DOES THINGS!

Would it be possible to position a platform so perfectly right so that the sand block will fall on it, and since when it's being tosed around it's not snaping to the block grid it will land out of place so you can have a sand block stantionary that's not alligned to the block grid and is taking up multiple block spaces at once?

For minecraft 1.0.0 this didnt work for me....the repeaters werent setting off the piston for the sand cannon at the right time....but i fixed it and i had to put down 13 repeaters instead of 7 thanks anyways! im havin a lot of fun with the cannons thanks! keep up the good work!

Are you familiar with BUD (Block Update Detector) switches? If so, could this falling sand block update the switch when it lands? If that is so one could potentially build huge arrays of these things powering different traps as the sand comes falling. This could potentially replace wiring in long circuits! Thoughts?

I once tried this on my server, tested it, saw where it landed, made a chest filled with 64 diamonds right next to it (trap chest >:D), I swear about 16 people that logged on were suffocated quickly...

Fun little trick, Add a block to the right of the piston, place a redstone torch above it and whala, you have a tnt cannon that fires sand/gravel too!

Is a block an entity while it is being pushed by a piston? What if the TNT explodes while the block is moving? Could you then move any block?
