  • thanks alot mate this has really helped :D

  • i can do this vault over walls and benches BUT i just cant brew up the confidence to do it over thin objects such as fences or railings i fear because i cant see the object to place my hands on it and im scared i will miss can any one help?

  • @96CheesyPUFFS its just a mental block what every person that has practiced parkour has gone through. having the fear is what keeps us alive and it is what makes us aware but you just have to commit yourself because i cant preform extraction like in the movie inception and plant ideas in your mind, thats a great movie anywayy... i know its hard but trust your body and just try to convine your mind that you will succed. because remember "life is to short to live it in fear" : sam pharam.

  • press 6 to see dash vault...

  • i finally landed my first one! lol

  • how long should it take me to get this?

  • It is a scary vault, but you just gotta put your feet first, push your momentum forward, and push off.

  • Anyone have any suggestions on what kind of shoe would be best for this?

  • @TribuneKitty i can name some parkour shoes i have used their all great k swiss ariake, feiyues, and know obstacles

  • At first I thought this was impossible...but now I'm doing it over things that are as high as my solar plexus...it really proves that we're all capable of much more than we think.

  • My dash vault used to be like 1:43, then something loosened up, and now it looks more like 1:35 except the legs are split a little bit further. Any help?

  • Comment removed

  • I take it the dash vault would not be a good choice when jumping over something then falling a height of more than say.... 6ft? Considering that's about the height that it is neccesary for me to go into a roll. I'm just asking because yours legs hit the ground first but after a dash vault most of your weight is still behind you, and it will take time to shift your weight forward, causing you to A. Lose momentum B. Sprain something, or C. Completely crash...

  • Hey Ozzi I was wondering why you showed the dash vault with style. I mean, it looks good, but when you do that you sacrifice the momentum that you had coming up to the obstacle.

  • Great tutorial Ozzi!!!!!!!

  • first when my friend was doing this I was like damn wtf i want to do that then later i tried and failed and i said nah i wont even try this and now im doing it on every obstacle on which it is possible to do it :D i always move my right leg up when im doing dash :D first right leg and then the left 1 and both of my legs r in the air like he did not like 1 up 1 down :D thats a freaking fun vault

  • @NinjaCOOKIEZZ74 actually I think that freerunning is the efficient part of the 2 while parkour is the same with the freestyle in it

  • @infamous071 i thought it was the other way around, parkour is efficiency, free running is the aesthetic variation

  • @infamous071 dumbass

  • Good vid....not as hard as ppl think

  • It always feels like once I have cleared to my hands I could just tuck forward and sail over the obstacle. When is the dash vault really useful?

  • @fyermind when you would use a kong .... a long waist high object

  • Your tutorials are great mate. The progression and attention to detail is really helpful. Thanks. Also I didn't know there's Parkour practitioners in Hawaii, great website too.

  • always smash my butt of the table. XD

  • Scary At First But I Finally Did It.

  • umm are we meant to land on our ass on the thing we are trying to vault over (eg. bench)? Cos in this video it looks like the guy stops for a bit as if he is sitting on the table. Or are we meant to not sit on the table?

  • How do you get into the sitting position in mid air?

  • I love the feeling of this vault, and how your hands save you from killing your butt. Good tutorial. Favorite vault by far :D

  • sweet cant wait to start tryin this out!

  • awesome tutorial, i'm leaving and go outside to train

    thx, Ozzi

  • Okay I can not get over the fear of this vault :(

I'm worried that I won't jump high enoug or far enough and land on my face

  • @jamesbrosseau3 How do you plan on landing on your face if you're leaning backwards? ;) just make sure you have enough speed in the approach

  • Comment removed

  • I am always to afraid to do it any tips??

  • @rexerino try to jump with no hands over the subject and if u can u do than dash :)

  • Hi Ozzi, great tutorial by the way. I was just wandering, im practicing dash vaults and i'd be trying to clear something only about 45 cm in lenth. I cant seem to bring my legs together as i pass over it. Do you think i need to try and dash over an object which is longer?

  • @Gronk usually this is what I like to call a free running move because it really dosnt help much in a parkour situation but I like to compare this as my opinion to parkour and freerunning Parkour: martial art no tricks just fastest way to get from A to B. Freerunning: a freestyle sport like skateboarding, bmx, u army really trying to get from a a to b specter, u just trick around I think these are the basic parkour vaults, speed, monkey, and kong that give u a explanation of it?

  • @NinjaCOOKIEZZ74 Actually has a very parkour based purpose.... The idea of the dash vault is to maintain forward momentum (usually useful for another object shortly after the first).

  • Can someone please explain to me the reasoning for opting to use this vault over a regular speed vault? I'm not saying this shouldn't be done or anything, I'm just curious as to the application of it.

  • @Gronked the more vaults you know... the more options you have... some are easier and more efficient depending on the environment, situation and obstacle

  • @no1touch I completely understand that concept, but can you please give me an example of a situation where this is vault would be the preferred method for clearing an obstacle over a different vault? I'm interested to know so as to figure out if I need to invest time (and potentially, pain) learing this vault as well. Thanks

  • @Gronked seeing as routes arent usually freestyled, the preference is yours, but it seems to be vault that would be more efficient on the forward movement/ momentum perspective, but i believe its all preference... (plus i think its more exciting to learn em all... but im crazy :) )

  • Comment removed

  • @Gronked yeah I'm hearing you. But you know how some vaults have definite applications. Eg a kong for long low obstacles, a turn vault to keep you attached to the wall, a thief when you hit the wall at an angle and with little speed, and so on. The only thing I can make from this vault is your feet seem to land close to the end of the obstacle (as opposed to a kong which seems to make you land a bit away from it). So maybe that's it's application... I dunno, I think about this stuff too much :)

  • niceeee

  • Ozzi, I noticed that when you "added more style", you weren't landing in the one two step thing you just mentioned. Is that because it was to hard for you to do, or you weren't doing it just because.

  • You make everything look and sound so easy lol

Thanks for all the tutorials man

  • this vault scares the shit outta me...... im trying it later! :D

  • my butt hurts D:

  • what music did u use for this, its pretty good?

  • I found it easier to use railing than a bench.

  • would it be more efficient to just do a lazy or thief vault over an obstacle like this?

  • y not jus walk around da table hahahah jk jk.. probably bcuz it'l b to easy

  • i think the dash is the most frightening vault ever invented :D

  • Much better tutorials than so called "expert" village. All they do is demonstrate without breaking it down. Thanks, now I can take the baby steps to finally pull this vault off.

  • lol i epic phailed

i did 5 or 6 then i smashed my head on the back, but im still practicing lol

i wish i had a bech like hat

  • I learnt this on one of those single benches and it was rlly scary coz the top was as thin as a rail :S

    But I have nowhere else

What I did is I did a lazy over it then increased my angle until I got a straight one

After that just put ur hands oon at the same time

  • great i practs my own?lol.

  • nice, i love ypur vids, theyre so helpful =)

  • Your tutorials are great! Thanks guys.

  • This is one of the moves that looks awsome but hard to start doing, once you get the hang of it its easy, this is one that i cant do):

  • I think this guy gives the best tutorials!

  • thanks mate.

    can do them now xD

  • please help me i know some of the basic valuts such as the speed, turn and lazy vault the promblem is that i cant do the monkey valuat please can u come up with a better tuturial please to over come my fear . by the way please if some in birmingham can find me a parkour school in birmingham il be so grateful

  • Well, I'm off out now to do this. I can clear benches with ease, but ever since I cut my back hard attempting a dash vault, I've been scared ever since. With any luck, using this method will help me get the courage back to try it again also help to perfect it. Thank you very much!

  • That move looks waaayyy better with one leg higher then the other....with both up high it loooks really retarded.idk i just think hes about to fart.

  • i rather prrrefer the lazyvault

and wat the hel is wrong with my typin tis daeys damn it!

  • When i first saw this move i was like "WOAH! way too sketchy for me!" Then a few days later i thought to myself "Go big or go home!" then BAM!!! I did it. the obstacle was only about waist height but it gave me so much more confidence!

  • thats the spirit...try do kong vault the only thing about it is the take off part..i got no confidence..but i can do monkey vault its similar to kong but i dunno why im afraid

  • @Soulcarvers u dnt need confidence lol i hav no confidence i jus go for it with out thinking and i only sometimes get hurt : )

  • if you can try using a couch

  • yeah same here im only able to do Kongs when Im like really in the zone.

  • @torch225 what obstical was it?

  • WoW i thought that would be hard

  • cool man. I like this move alot

  • i started out doing this over a bed lawl :P GREAT tutorial by the way

  • @MrMusicalJess

HAHA me too, same thing with kong :P

  • woah that actually is gonna help me a lot. thx man :p

  • thats a really great way to learn, its how i learned before i saw this

  • good thorough video

  • i still can't do this

  • nice one! thx alot!

  • what's the name of the song?

  • Took me 5 minutes to learn it, but still, after doing the Dash Vault over 9000 times, it still looks hard&scary.

    Anyways, good tutorial.

  • @DSpawnx ITS OVER 9000!!!!

  • @DSpawnx ITS OVER 9000...

sorry had to do that. Yeah, I also learned it in about 10 minutes but I'm working on my style now :P

    great tutorial mate

  • Dash and Kong vault are the only ones which make me think twice, although I can do a Kong alright.

  • Nice one

  • i first learnt on a small wall but i hate doin it on a pole or rail now...my mate tried following me and he is a better free runner than me and i done a dash over a rail and set of stairs and he tried copying and caught his foot on the rail as he jumped n flipped ova n landed face first on the concrete and ever since i hvnt been able able to dash a rail i also dnt like the fact that theres hardly anytin to put ur hands down on

  • ernore that, lol

  • 1 thing, when i do it my hands dont lift off the object as im following through, is this still da dash vault?

  • The Dash Vault has always been scary for me to try. Now that I've seen your tutorial, I'm not so intimidated by it anymore. Thanks! =D

  • I did my first dash vault on a rail, the third time I tried it I almost missed the rail with my hands, it helps alot to practise on wider things.

  • it feels alot easier the more you practice landing with 1 leg and 2 hands. To me, it feels like the dash vault gets easier.

  • Comment removed

  • what are you talking about o.O we are all saying that what Vlatko1337 is describing is a kash vault. We are not saying the video is about the kash vault. Dont follow and copy blindly =.=

  • for long obstacles i do a monkey vault then end with a dash vault :)

  • it is called kash vault ;)

  • Thanks for that, now i know a proper word for it ;P

  • thats a kash vault

  • I don't get how this works. But it just hurts your wrist

  • Freaking cool!! i dont even think i dare to do it... T~T

  • Dude, you're frickin awesome!

I never dared to even think of trying Dash Vault because I was afraid that I'd hit my legs while jumping and crush my neck, but you found one of the most convincing methods for me to overcome this fear. Thanks a lot man, you're the best.

  • wha this is damn scary, sprain ur wrists and slam r ass..

  • Great tutorial Ozzi! When you using your hands is it to propel you forward? I ask because I've tried it on a smaller obstacle (an electrical box) and the impact feels pretty intense to the hands. It's as if all my body weight (about 155 lbs) is being taken by my hands.

  • The lower the obstacle the more impact you will received cuz you are coming down to the obstacle. Try something a bit higher and you should not feel so much impact.

  • Thanks for the tip. I'll begin this on a bench.

  • @UrbanCurrent how high (measurement to body size) should i try this for just starting im like 5'3

  • @UrbanCurrent k soo how do i 1 test/know how high of an object i can jump safely and 2 how to not absorb anything on my wrists?

  • @NuvoAero What he said, if its too low then you should be doing some other type of vault.

  • 1:44 is an immense vault! :)

  • the dash looks badass trying this out right now

  • yes i can do the dash vault thanks urban current yesssss :D already my fav vault

  • Urban, you've helped me learn to kong in one day, your videos are very helpful, now I have to learn dash.

  • and? can you do it i'm trying it too :P

  • Well I've only been able to practice once since I posted that comment and unfortunately... no I can't do it yet, I might need a lower picnic table since the one in my yard is kinda high. Too bad lol

  • Thanks alot! This cleared some things up.

Im going out to try it now.

  • Would this be harder or easyer than the kong vault??

  • many learn the kong first

  • Well, I can do the Kong, but cant really do the dash...

Dont know bout anyone else though

  • i'd say the kong vault is easier.. i can do both.. but with the dash u can get a bit weary incase u catch ur legs on the obstical, but once u get used to doing the dash... its pretty simple ;)

  • It depends on your body.. most traceurs would argue that the Kong Vault is harder but for you it might be different. The outcome is different for everyone.

  • Really? That would make sense, the kong is simple for me now and I'm about to learn the dash but it seems like it would be way harder.

  • kong u must have one part a pole higher than the other part if u a beginner otherwise its a face plant waiting to happe.

  • harder

  • still difficult for me ,its easy to see it but its hard to do it my brain cant program my body.

  • thanks this tutorial helped to learn the dash vault in my first attempt

  • Just a question for the maker of the video, but for some reason, they usually don't answer questions, hopefully I'm wrong about you, I never learned Dash Vaults properly, I just glanced at someone doing one and thought: "Fun... Let'g go.". So the thing is, I do my Dash Vaults with my hands pointing backwards, whereas yours are pointing forwards, I haven't hurt myself YET, but is there a signifigant difference in safety and/or momentum or other random tid-bits of info? Thanks. (Hopfully)

  • no in the case of the bench but if you were attempting a dash over a rail, fence, etc. placing your hands forward would allow you to sort of push your self if you choose to grab it but its just a matter of choice

  • Alright thanks a lot. I have found with rails it is a bit awkward having them backwards, so I'll try it both ways. Thanks again.

  • thank you so much! i think i know how to learn this vault now.... i never really thought about starting safely learning dash vault.. :/

    thank you so much ;)

  • for some reason i only use 1 hand when im doing it i cant make both hands do it =(

  • I thought this was called the thief vault? anyway guy it is not as scary as it looks. I learned it on school and on a lot higher obstacles then this, no one got hurt and every one made it perfectly. (4 vault jumps after each other with a hight of 1.5m and a distance between each of them of 5m)

  • this helps alot, iv always been to scared to try a dash, but iv only jus learbed a kong

  • this is terrifying; if you don't lift your feet high enough your legs are ruined

  • bring ur hips up this should help with ur feet

  • dude, thanks. i've always had a problem with my dash vault.

  • Ok i know how to do the underbar but im too afraid to try the dash vault will i be fine if i already know the underbar?

  • yh if u dont test the feeling and do it one try u can easily get inturrupted by fear making u get it wrong

  • you have a subscriber!

  • Thanks for the tutorial!

  • thanks now i manage quite goog the dash =)

  • the part about practicing to land on one foot and both hands really helped me alot, thanks

  • no no , really, the best tutorial, AWESOME ! Thanks u veeery much!

  • the best tutorial ever made!

  • holy crap this is such a good tutorial!!! i shall start practising.

  • u guys this is a sick tutorial. great great job.

  • how can i get over the fear of sticking my legs infront of me?

  • lol nice username btw, but i got the same problem! anyone know any tips for that fear of falling straight on your back?

  • Don't lean back so much? XD Your momentum wouldn't allow you to fall backwards in almost all cases, and if your hands touch the table, you should be more worried about hitting your face on the ground. Momentum has everything to do with this move.

  • try to jump to and land sitting on the obsticle (try a picnic bench)then try to use your hands to flick off at the end

  • Ive been doing this same teqnique for about 2 mounths and my oly problem is gaining hight on higher obsticles.

  • i can do this it took me 3 trys and i had it, way too easy

  • this tutorial is awsome!!!

it took me about a day to learn this one :)

  • UCC, you guys rock. Your tutorials break it down into such a nice progression that's it's hard not to go right out and learn these techniques. Great job and thanks for putting these up in the first place.

  • Wow, thanks heaps man. I watched this and got it within a day. Nice work with the notes and stuff

  • dude you are awsome

  • You offer a warning in the beginning of the video: "Work within your comfort zone", but I have a counter to this warning: If you stay in your safe zone you will never progress, this is how it is with a lot of things in life. You must push the envelope occasionally and set the bar higher for yourself, thus creating a heightened sense of comfort with more difficult maneuvers upon completion of your first few attempts at more difficult acts.

  • Agree, but this is a tutorial. While learning you dont want to push it until you have complete control of the technique.m

  • Yeah, you make an excellent point..

But at the start it actually says: "Try not to go too far from the comfort zone" not, "Work within your comfort zone"..

But I'm not arguing with you, just pointingout that minor error ^^.

  • you have a training style very simmilar to mine. i am the kind of person who pushes them selves very hard (sometimes to hard) and learns from their crashes.

there are two styles (in my opinion) of training for parkour and/or free running, slow and steady, which most people do and it works very well.

and then my way, push it till you push to far, then learn from what you screwed up on and try again.

but you have to follow your instinct. sometimes u just know u cant make it, so u walk away.

  • your tuts will be great if you speak in them... there awesome already but you could take it to the next level with audio walk through

  • i hurt my shin by doing this

  • rofl i can jump over a bench no need for vaulting

  • vaulting looks cooler

  • its weird but i learned and executed the dash vault perfectly before i learned to do the kong vault O_o

  • How is that weird?

  • cause people regularly start off mastering the kong vault

  • i mastered the diving kong before i learned the regular kong vault. :P

  • bull

  • The diving kong is a regular kong, brother. A kong without being airborne is simply a monkey.

And nobody has mastered a vault. There is always more room for improvement.

  • im stuck on the part where one leg is on the table and one is hanging off

  • what? you can't have some fun in parkour? jeez

  • well, parkour is mainly getting from route a to b quickly, but freerunning (notice how free is in it) you basically do any tricks with no route to follow

  • That's a load of bullshit from start to finish. sorry but it is.

  • MilitantBlackGuy1 you're an idiot, that's what parkour is. Sorry but it is.

  • MilitantBlachGuy1

do your research before posting crap.

Parkour is the efficent travel from point A-to-B and not being controlled by your surroundings on the way. While an average pedestrian must follow a set path a Traceur can use his environment to get to his set destination in the fastest way possible.

Of course Parkour is fun, but it isnt flip and things. Thats like saying if i do a flip while stood on a football pitch im playing football. It just isnt football...

  • i know i was in a bad mood when i posted that i know what parkour is i do it. dont tell me to do my research lol.
