I own this guitar, it rips. It's called a Fret Wave for intonation The guitar is versatile It took 3 years to find one on E-bay looking for this item. It's unique, the neck goes through the body and the two single coils are attached to the neck for sustain. the Wilkenson tremolo springs are attached to the neck. The last pickup is attached to the body. there are no springs for the pickups, they are bolted straight to the wood for sustain. everything about the guitar is totally custom

@Basstard22 The fret-curvature is to achieve correct intonation for a "D" chord etc when standard tuning is employed. All guitars without this will not intonate properly on the lower frets of the upper strings.

Funny how we all missed this for all those years!!!!

Warmouth first did the compound-radius necks and I believe you need to speak to Paul Guy "Guitar Verkstan" in Stockholm , Sweden for the complete lowdown. He'll supply you a neck or guitar if you ask nicely.

@Basstard22 Well I'm not sure if Paul Guy can supply necks but he certainly developed the theory and the practical solution. The A and D chords being out is the tip of the iceberg. The whole neck is brought into line with these frets. We are talking 24 cents out on a standard guitar - which is quite a lot to deal with when you are trying to make sweet music.

Paul is an old friend from my Sweden stint in the '80's. Many good nights talking guitars and other stuff.

Godin are worth a look.

hey, yeah, they definitely look like the true temperament frets, but only the first two frets. On my guitars at least, the first frets tend to be the ones with most intonation problems, I notice it everytime I grab an F-barre chord, not a huge problem, and back when my ears weren't as sharp I didn't notice it, but I guess the true temperament helps

Frank does what I've dreamt of doing. I just never thought that fluent sound could come out like that. Beautiful and over my favorite beat as well! I guess that's Dave Weckl on drums. This band needs to just stay together and tour. Frank is my favorite guitar player Chick Corea ever played with.

Frank never ceases to amaze. That fret system is called Fret Wave. Frank is the only top player that Ive seen using it. I would love to see Frank and Chick together again in RTF. Wonderful.

I'm sorry. I know this is supposed to be some of the top players ever but.. In this particular clip it just sounds like they're not in sync with each other. Weckl is just playing to what he listening to through the phones. The bass player messing around and Corea and Gambale matching each other. They pull it together about half way through but this sounds sloppy to me

Hello everyone. For anyone who may not know, rumor has it that Frank may be joining Chick, Stanley, and Lenny for the next RTF tour. Apparently, Di meola does not wish to participate any further. Two completely different styles of playing, particularily when it comes to picking technique. If true, this could very interesting. Frank's guitar has the first 2 or 3 frets adjusted like that because those are the most out of tune frets, especially when a compensated nut is used, but it's not technically a TT neck.
