The reason the balloon shrinks, is because cold air is more dense therefore taking up less volume, and when he puts it on the table again, the air inside the balloon heats up again and therefore expanding!:)
but I'd like to know why the balloon doesn't pop is it because the air inside the balloon hasn't fully expanded or did the properties of the rubber change because of the cold temperatures? :o
All you do is cool it down dramatically so it contracts, then let it warm back up slowly so it expands back to its' original size. I don't see what is so amazing.
cool :P kept watching this clip for like 10 times. cold air takes less space and if air gets warmer then it expands that's what happened to the balloon :P
hey man, nice to have a face with the name! you really seem like a cool and down to earth guy indeed.
i hope now a lot less people will complain in the comments, cuz its easier to be mean against a faceless person! (the reason why people are so agressive in traffic... they cant see the other driver's face)
anyway, nice video haha... didnt know the balloon wouldnt pop after being nitrogenized! guess its the rubber polymers that got all rigid... what wouldnt, after such low temperatures!
There could be major applications behind this, am thinking maybe storage, image a suitcase that you could just pull thing out of and they would auto inflate, such as temporary furniture, the balloon looked hard to burst which could also be a plus.
@omerjacobus Thank you!!! We are working on a format for a weekly short, staring me..... Not what I planed as you can see from years of productions that I have only been on screen in three clips I think. So we will start with a little experiment and a quick tour. We are still building out the studio and working on a format, so bare with us a little.
@kary213 It is OK... We need to be able to laugh with others sometimes and not get so upset over little things. Yes we should be able to laugh at our selves too. We like to look at life thru the lens and hope everyone can join us in our simple pleasures. lets not make it complicated. Thanks for the humor, and thanks for coming to my support to all of you.
im guessing that the dry ice(at least i think thats wut it is) made it so cold, the air molecules just compressed like crazy, but when it was taken out, the air molecules were able to spread apart. im not a genius, but hopefully im right
except that dry ice temperature is around -78°C (-109°F) and liquid nitrogen -210°C (-346°F) or even less and it would not have been possible with dry ice to reduce the volume of air so much
Nice, I think I saw that back in primary school. Hey I like these kind of videos. And if you're uploading more then you should make a 2nd channel. 1 more slo mo, and 1 for behind the scenes
@ultraslo I'm your age, and I've amazed several youngsters who can't believe I have a YouTube channel. I guess they expected that I'd be rocking on a porch or something. :-D
By the way, I LOVE your videos. Stay curious and keep uploading please!
Man, I saw a demonstration like this at the Green Bank Observatory in West Virginia and it was awesome! I dont know if anyone has said yet, but the reason it does that is because the liquid nitrogen is so cold, it actually makes the oxygen molecules bounce around very slowly and decreases pressure. Water freezes at 0 degrees C and if I'm not mistaken, liquid nitrogen is almost -200 degrees C. That is freakin' cold!
better when it was just slow motion stuff and less human stuff :)
