well personally i really like manchester, i live near birmingham and that's pretty shit, london is too big and impersonal and sheffield and liverpool just don't seem to have the same appeal

manchester is hardly the most beautiful, friendly place in the world, but it has culture and history and edgy enough to be interesting but not so edgy that it feels really unpleasant.

@jageiosjgaeiojg I agree with you to an extent, but it's a tad misguided to say Manchester is steeped in a history that gives it an edge over Liverpool. At the very least, if you incorporate the whole of Merseyside into the equation, then Manchester is squashed for history and character.
