thanks. I'm looking into something for my wife and unsure. I know the body guard .380 had some issues as well. However, I think we will go with the lower price of the BG.
Do you think the problems could be something with the ammo or mag? Maybe leave one out the mag and try.
Wish ya the best.........it is a pain to purchase anything and have issues like this.
@JackkOfAllTrades I'm hearing rumors of a possible problem with the Kahr mags, but a lot of Kahr P380 owners have reminded me that Kahr expressly discourages manually racking the slide to chamber a round.
BTW: The S&W BG380 fires without a magazine and has true "second-strike" capability. And my BG380 is proving 100% reliable on the range.
I've put 300 rounds through my Kahr P380 and it still isn't functioning 100%. On the other hand, my new S&W BG380 performed perfectly right out of the box with a mix of FMJ, JHP & DPX. Can somebody explain to me why the extra $200 I paid for the Kahr was worth it?
@JackkOfAllTrades Occasional FTF/FTE with JHP and DPX, one or two per 50 rounds. I use Winchester, Federal, Magtech and Corbon ammo. No reloads, no junk. The FTF is most noticeable when manually racking the slide after inserting a full magazine. To reproduce the problem, I do this: empty the pistol, close the slide, insert a full mag (loaded with DPX or Federal Hydrashock), pull back the slide and release it.
I just bought my Kahr 380 and put 150 rounds thru it. It shoots wonderful but it is having lots of jamming problems. I'll put another couple of hundreds rounds thru so I'll wait and see.
@HandgunWorldShow For anyone thinking about the CM9 I would like to recommend it. If you're looking for "no-nonsense" on a carry gun, having better slide stamping or a match grade barrel like the PM series does not matter. Especially since Trijicon sights fit the CM as well as they do the PM you are loosing no utility by buying the "cheaper looking" CM9. Spend the extra $200 you save on ammo and practice. I shoot 3'' groups at 25yrds with the CM9 and I am NOT a great shooter. Nice review.
Thanx for the review. Although you mentioned no external, or thumb safety, you didn't elaborate why or if the P380 had a commensurate safety feature.
Is the P380 safety just the long trigger pull? Is it safe to carry CWB or pocket holster with one in the chamber? Just want to be sure because nobody is talking about this issue.
@bookwormbandit This Kahr P380 does not have a manual safety. In my opinion, it's not needed either. The long double action pull is perfectly safe enough to carry either in a pocket or IWB with a round in the chamber.
Thats not to bad with some rounds might just not be likeing the gun. I really like this as a everyday carry cause it's just so small you really can put it anywere. And really these days the .380 rounds really can do some damage like the hornday tap, Winchester pdx1, and others out can put a stop to your target. I'll prob look for a used one in greta condition that way the price will be a little better ..thx's and keep up the good reviews
Hey, Bob. Thanks for the video. It helped me with my decision to pick one of these up. Took it to the range and put 100rds of fmj through it, then started to tested some Corbon DPX for my carry ammo. I had one light strike failure to fire in the 20 rds I fired with the Corbon. I know you prefer this round. Has this ever happened to you with? Should I blame it on a not yet broken in gun?
The price of this gun is the reason I went with the ruger lcp. I love it though. If I had a free choice of the kahr and ruger would I pick the Kahr? Yes. One good thing about the LCP so far is that it has had no jams or fouls ups of any sort after 1200 round through it. Can't beat it for the price.
@HandgunWorldShow yeah they could make the sights a bit more visible that would be one thig. but I kinda get the point that this isn't a target gun when someone pulls a knife or gun on you. but... for a hostage situation i would like better sights. All hypatheidically speaking. I would like the sights to be raised for better performance at the range as well.
Would you personally own a pistol that does not lock the slide back after the last round fired? I love the Ruger LCP and thought about buying it but am afraid that in a "combat" situation the slide will be my downfall.... thoughts?
Good review. I am having trouble finding a decent leather holster preferably a IWB small of the back one. I own a Galco and Bianchi holster. What do you use?
Good video. I would like to ask you about the hogue grip sleeve. Can you tell me what model it is? I went to hogue's website, however, they didn't specify which grip sleeve would specifically work with the p380. They do mention that the "handall Jr" grip will work for the PM9, is that the one you purchased? If so, did you have to modify it? I noticed you mentioned something about using skateboard tape to keep the grip from slipping. How do you do that exactly? Thanks I appreciate your time.
The California version of the P380 has a loaded chamber indicator. I believe that is the only difference. Says on their website that it will ship later this year. Lots of hype about it over here because most small guns like LCP and Kel-tec's are illegal.
@kevin11ta Got my Grandpa in Oregon to buy/send me one. Getting one in CA will be near impossible...even when it starts to ship. Better hit up your out of state mom/dad grandma/grandpa

I would strongly suggest getting the Kahr Night sights or the XS Big Dot sights for this gun.

@LynchYT When they first came out there were issues with the polymer variants, but they seem to be high quaility and run just fine now.
