  • i can't tell if i loved it or hated it :/

  • That was a good movie but there were a fue things I didn't understand, like why the piano got dropped in the middle of the road at the beginig, and why he is alays wearing the purple suit.

  • Amazing what a little pussy'll do for a fella, eh?

Quite a disturbing tale of love...the implosion of unexpresed anger finding its way into explosive violence is somehow a thing of sexual fascination? Interesting take on the role emotional repression plays in love...Paul Thomas Anderson is a mad, mad genius.

  • well as someone with SA i thought this film was spot on at first but I think now they just used that at the beginning to give this film a twist. making the transition into a confident, powerful lover just like that doesn't happen. still, cute story.

  • anyone feel lke hes running unusually slow when he gets in the warehose to get the harmonium

  • I thought this would be the one Paul Thomas Anderson film I wouldn't like because I'm not a Sandler fan, but this is just as good as the others. FINALLY someone twists the romantic comedy enough to make it interesting.

  • I am surprised he didn't go back there and punch him after he said get the fuck out of here pervert. If I was him I would have went to the back and punched him idc if he said th....that.

  • "I would say 'that's that' mattress man."

"You came all the way from LA to tell me that?"

  • i guess im the only 1 who thought the movie was pretty boring and bland. and whoever did the music/sound effects should be fired from the film industry for life. 2/5.

  • moral of the story cut your penis off it will get you into trouble.

  • check out the commercial for D&D Mattress Man

    /watch?v=fkeLGisUHtc

  • That was the weirdest fucking movie I've ever seen in my life and I've watched the first 5 minutes of "In a Spiral State".

  • thanks for posting this movie, I have been looking for it for a long time, it's amazing and thanks

  • @PIXIEGIRL12341 Well Adam Sandler is a mentally sick man, he suffers some kind of depression and one night he decided to call a sex line, but the people of the sex line were scammers. Sandler falls in love with his sister's friend and he starts to improve a litle, but kees dealing with these issues till the very end of the movie. As for him carrying the piano it have a lot of meaning if you consider what he told her about the piano, rent the movie it worths watching.

  • Well WTF, where's the fight scene?!?!? I love it when Sandler mans up and kicks the crap out of those guys, one of my favorite scenes from a love flick. How did that get missed??

  • @umaeus the fight is in part 8

  • Matress Man vs Bill O'Reilly: BATTLE OF THE SHUTUPS!

  • how does he know he is in utah?how does he know his ware abouts?

  • @zxcvqwer84 area code,he has the girls number remember,he called her while he was on vacation.also the girl in the beginning said the charge would be to a mattress place so put the two together and he found them.

  • @DethKlok101

Your right about when the girl said it would be charged to D & D Mattress, but he discovered they were in Utah when one of the brothers hit him (when he was getting cash from the ATM) he fell down in front of their truck, which gave him a glimpse of their "Utah" license plate.

  • @prankcalls1234 i still think he found it another way,but i would have to watch it again to explain better, which im not going to do right now,ill follow up later.

  • @DethKlok101

When you go back and watch you'll see that Barry stares at the License plate for a moment indicating he was taking a mental note of their whereabouts

  • but wait...... whats the piont of the piano thing?

  • i think the piano is "love" -- it gets dropped off right after there's a "crash", which symbolizes his sex imbroglio. when he finally solves that, he unites the piano w his love.

  • and...and I have a lot of pudding...

  • the best part is when he hands the phone over to the person behind the counter. classic!

  • "DIDN'T I WARN YOU?!!!"

    "Th... that's that!"

See, even Philip Seymour Hoffman realizes you just don't fuck with Adam Sandler.

  • He took that phone from that he ripped out at his office all the way to Utah.

  • Shut up. Shut shut shut shut shut up.

  • I love the blue red and pink lens flares. PTA at his best! It's almost like he channeled Felini for this picture.

  • does he ever take off his suit through the movie? This is the first movie ive ever seen anyone wear the same thing throughout the whole movie, but still a great movie.

  • "shut up! shut the FUCK up! shut up- will you- shut up- shut up! shut-shut-shut-shut-shut up!... SHUT UP!" LOL!

    this is a beautiful movie

  • Philip Seymour Hoffman rules once again. Adam Sandler is good too.

  • Ok Barry, now the body slam the mattress dude onto the floor and tie him up and then bite his cheeks, nose and tongue and then spit them out.

  • yeah man, this flick is funny as shit! i remember this being weird and all cuz of the cool music when i watched it the first time. But watching again now, this has gotta' be sandler's best dark comedy ever!

  • shut, shut, shut shut, shut, shut, shut, shut, shut, shut, shut, shut up.

  • shut shut shut shut shut shut shut the fuck up.lol that was funny

  • lol dragging the phone line

  • Lol the matress man completely bitched out.

easy to see who the real man out of the two was.

I reckon Adam Sandler could play any type of role after watching this.

  • @EbsNhexz adam sandler is crazy in real life though i bet u he would fuck someone up

  • I may have to ask Emily Watson to marry me.

She is beautiful, though I'm pretty sure she's married. Unless...

  • Love

  • wow i just finished watching this movie cuz i have to write a paper on it for one of my classes and i actually really enjoyed it. adam sandler did a damn good job on this one and it was a good, mature role.

  • What i believe this movie is about is, a guy who is down in the dumps because of his family finds a piano/harmonium outside his office, the piano/harmonium is symbolized as his dignity and pride. He picks his dignity and pride up from the street and brings it to a safer place where he can figure what to do with it. Since he has been abused mentally by his siblings he's not used to his dignity and pride.

  • what the h was this movie about????

  • Fucking loved Adam in this movie. He kicked so much as xDDD thrilling.

  • come on guys, it aint as bad as it seems. its meant to be a comedy, if u werepaid millions to act such a role wouldnt u....have a laugh and quite discriminating. geeze

  • moral of the story: Do not ever call porn phone services.

  • @felipepeixoto7 actually if he never did that, then he would never stand up for himself like this in the end. This was the final moment of triumph and confidence for Barry that he would've never been able to reach without the harassment of the phone porn company so...

moral of the story: Call porn phone services!

    hehe

  • What the fuck was this movie about?...

  • @NordicCrossle

Just as long as they are all white who cares.

  • hahahahah... WHAT?!

  • You are a racist hiding behind bullshit flimsy nazi-esque ideologies. Break off your own dick and fuck yourself.

  • You are the racist.

  • eat a big bag of dicks, douchebag

  • Grow up.

  • Four Blonde gentlemen just attacked me!

  • LOVE IT

  • and I have a lot of pudding; if you just give me 6 to 8 weeks,I can redeem the millage.

  • Your remarks are invaluable. And it wasn't funny so don't type "lol".

  • @flypartsguy dnt watch it then

  • i love how things get increasingly bizarre for the watcher, but sandler's character seems to have the introverted experience

  • 4:10 looks like something from a scary movie, like jason the way he just stood there

  • This is probably the greatest scene of Paul Thomas Anderson's career. The writing is so crisp and hard-hitting, but also blunt. It hits you in the chest and knocks you over.

Phil Hoffman gives me chills. He's a five star actor. Five stars.

  • I think it's partially because he wrote those lines. It suits him so well.

  • love 9:30 ....love this movie it's just so poetic!!!

  • One of PTA's BEST MOVIE EVER!

  • thats that matress man!

  • lmao Adam Sandler is so awesome.

  • It takes a couple of times to understand 2001: A Space Odyssey or at worst maybe even Matrix - the first time you saw it.

Not this Sweet Movie - anyone who's seen shit in life & been through ups & downs can immediately RELATE to this movie & Adam Sandler's character !!!

  • The movie was good. Barry was a nice guy. His girl is sweet. The phone-ho was hot, her boss was a dick. Moral of the story for Me?When shit happens...and it always will. Go for true love and screw the phone sex.

    Thanks for sharing ...

    peace.

  • iam mexico, and agree, this movie is magic..

  • i love this movie

  • shoulda gone happy gilmore on him

  • There were times in my past where I could completely emphasis with Sandler's character.

  • Comment removed

  • "OY---MMMMM-----YOU......FUCK!!!!! DID YOU JUST SAY GO FUCK MYSELF....?!?!?!"

    Yes, I did

    "THAT WASN'T GOOD, YOU'RE DEAD!"

The music underneath that is great!!!

Philip Seymour Hoffman is the shiiiit!! God bless him! ;-)

  • i just watched it once nd i understood the movie perfectly well

another great movie of Adam Sandler!!!

    xD

  • lol at him taking the phone to Utah :|

  • i need sum1 to exlplain it hahah! lol . can sum1?

  • 10kx for movie but its a little strange 0.o but i guess it has some sense 2 it

  • I think this movie is supposed to depict a character who is afflicted by social anxiety disorder. It was well done, even if it was a little strange at times. He overcomes it towards the end of course. It's interesting how love can mend a soul. That's my opinion anyways

  • Thanks for the film dude, loved it! =]

  • no problem

  • This movie was awesome!

  • I have no idea what the fuck is so hard to grasp about this romantic comedy...

  • Ya you do. The first time you saw it, you probably didnt understand it either. It takes a couple times to understand it.

  • i know man

  • sandler kicks ass

  • omfg one of the best movies ive ever seen

  • ha ha i though this was kinda funny , guy:Now get the fuck outa here pervert!!! adam: Didint i warn you!?!?!?!

    guy: thats that...

  • Lol yeah whats up with that part?? He comes up as some big boss pimp and calls him a pervert as if he kicked him out of the store, but when Sandler talks back, he walks off like a bitch....

  • Thank you for posting this movie.

This movie is confusing to some folks but it makes sense if you relate to the character or you're good at picking up symbolism.

I can't put in words how I feel about this movie. It's just wow. I can feel the emotion because I relate to the character so well... Social anxiety sucks, man. ):

  • Who watched this because of Brandon Hardesty?

  • me! xD

  • me.

  • I did.

  • haha me

  • me too!

  • I have no clue what this was about.

  • awesome movie

  • haha, i love how Hoffman says "are you threatening me, DICK?!" as if he's talking to a guy named Dick

  • "I have a love in my life it makes me stronger than anything you can imagine" one of the most beautiful lines in modern cinema. PTA is a god damn genious.

  • this is art at its finest. if you dont like this movie i can understand why. it just means youre movie iq is extremely shallow. im sure you enjoy films like armageddon and transformers. all the same, pta is a genius. tarantino is close but no cigar. this along with magnolia, boogie nights, sydney (hard eight), and there will be blood is a body of work that will never be topped.

  • you dont even know what pretentious means. shut your face. if you dont like this movie or my comment why are you on this message board you "pretentious prick"

  • hey socnnr1.....shut up shut shut up shut up. SHUT SHUT SHUT SHUT SHUT UP.

  • oh ok

  • cmon admit it that was funny

  • as a hernia

  • it hought it was good how you said what the man in the talkie said.

  • Totally Agree. And this genious its only 41,There´s much too come from him.

  • Talking down to people like that is only going to attract negativity. If you are enough of a movie fan that you wish to discuss film seriously I would advise you to lose the condescending tone. You're only making yourself look bad.

  • How did he know he was in Utah and the name of the furniture store?

  • got me

  • After much speculation and research, and the effort I have put into watching this movie, collecting all the possibly reasonable data that fits the themes, motifs and symbols of this movie, I am, with no doubt, proud to summarize all my work with a quick question ``WHAT THE FUCK DID I JUST WATCH`` Thank You!

  • I appreciate your straightforwardness in terms that sum up my exact emotions after going thus far myself. Kudos

  • seymour: DID YOU JUST say GO fuk myself?

    sandler: YES

Seymour: That wasnt good YOUR DEAD

lol this movie is awesome who agrees wit me. you know i can really relate to this guy all his life he s been scared of stuff but when he meets his lover which is that girl man for her he will go the fukin distance for and he wouldnt care wat happens.

  • one word: crazy...

    gigwriter, u have right...

  • gaaarrr SHE LOOKS LIKE GRANDMA AND SHES LIKE 65! GROSS

  • phillip seymour hoffman is awesome in this film

  • wow what a hilarious movie i enjoyed it thanks for the upload:D

  • u came all the way from la to tell me that?

    LMAO!

  • I think a'm gonna have to see the movie again for several times befour I understand him. I think it's beautifull, but difficult to understand

  • I found this movie frightening. A middle-aged woman clearly in desperate emotional straits "falling in love" with a violent manic-depressive she barely knows who is battling mid-level criminals rationalizing their actions by creating a one-sided moral platform...it's either brilliant or nuts. The scariest part being this may the zeitgeist for 21st century romance.

  • gigwriter, that was a hell of a comment.

  • @gigwriter Hah, wow, that's a mouthful. Great comment

  • just watched this for my sociology class. I think this film is great. thanks for the post.

  • people that say this was a stupid movie obviously don't like movies that are outside-the-box, thought provoking. Go watch Anger Management or something. This is one of my favorites.

  • ? wtf

  • You're the worst person in the world.

  • You really have no taste, then. Especially if you think any other Sandler movie is better.

    :/

  • 8:54 AWWE!!!

  • Adam Sandler should of smashed the effing windows at the mattress Mart...I woulda...

  • I know, that was the only part I didn't like about this film.

  • You don't get the symbolism in the movie. All his life he's been afraid of social situations and standing up for himself.

He stood up to the Mattress Man, the Mattress Man backed down. Clearly afraid of him.

He finally gained respect, and had won. He had no need to smash any windows. He won through confidence in himself instead of throwing a childish temper because of his new found love.

  • that's that and i agree

  • @wankmyhorseplz well said.

  • Waited forever for this movie to be posted. Thanks a lot!

  • man philip seymour hoffman does such a good job as an asshole

  • Very good movie, didnt even know it existed until 2 hrs ago. Thanks for the post.

  • He should have grabbed the scissors & slit that sluts throat.

  • Well, that was odd, but a good movie nonetheless.

  • Thanks for the movie , just really entertaining.

  • it's a great film..

  • I wish he kicked his ass!! shame shame!

  • started off boring but overall its really good and a clever film. thanx alot 4 postin

  • wierdest adam sandler movie i've seen by far. it's pretty good.

  • though phillip seymour hoffman is one of my few favorite actors he deserved to get his ass kicked... c'mon sandler

"shut shut shut shut shut up!!!! ........... shut up!!!!!!!"

  • this movie was interesting thanks

  • no problem

  • Oh big wow. He told him "Thats that". What about your smashed car dude? The hospital bills!? wtf

  • Made him say "That's that" without lifting a finger after all that bullshit on the phone from the mattress man.

The "pervert" put him in his place.

  • cheers for posting...weird oul film

  • best part of the movie

  • i wanted him to beat the living shit out of that guy

  • co sign

  • PTA destroys conventions and gets a performance out of Sandler...brilliant

  • am i missing something...i didnt get this film at all, just seemed poor...i dont get the hype

  • I have a love in my life. It makes me stronger than anything you can imagine....... The best line!!!!

  • i think it's the worst line in the whole movie, it's just so fake and out of character.

  • the character tried to mind his own business as much as possible throughout the whole movie. I thought it fit the character just fine

  • thats that mattress man lmao

  • go PTA!

  • strange, but engaging movie. Not bad!

  • That's that.

  • thank you thank you thank you! I recorded this movie but it was cut off at this scene!!! I'm so glad I found it here, thank you!

  • shut shut shut shut shut shut shutup.

    lolol
